That's how they were in my recollection, too. Not that you were guaranteed the top prizes even then, but basically anything and everything in the boxes was nonetheless useful if it dropped, and exceeded the 'value' of what you were paying for it. Bit like a raffle where every ticket won at least. If you were looking to get something specific, sure you could get disappointed, but nonetheless what was missing was the feeling of being cheated and swindled... whereas now...

Unless there is some in-industry secret knowledge telling them that crappy game design makes people want to spend more.... some reverse psychological thingy or sumfin.

Yeah, it's always a good idea to do the check and repair if you start having problems. Re-installing probably had the same effect.

Yes, it would be much better if there were separate rewards for team performance and individual performance. Likewise, when the mode is about in-team competition where you'd expect team vs. team competition, i.e. team play, at least on the most rudimentary form, you know there's something not quite right about it... How reliable is your connection/ISP? Try changing you DNS to Cloudflare or Quad9 to see if that makes a difference.

If ranked was changed so you could not lose any stars, to balance that out, they might need to make progressing a little harder, or slower. If only the top players in the team were awarded stars, the problem with competition as opposed cooperation would actually get worse, so the progress mechanics would need to be careful thought out. However, losing stars is a bigger problem in my book than progress being hard, so I'd rather go for any solution that goes in that direction.

We really should have three separate modes. 1. Gunnery engagements (no CV's/subs) 2. Carrier battles (CV's prominent, supported either by players or bots) 3. Convoy service (featurings subs vs convoys) Not popular with certain people, and not popular with WG, just saying how IMO things should be.

We used to be able to get cosmetic flags reaching rank 15 in the old ranked format. Then.. they removed that option at least as far as I'm concerned. Now I managed to scrape up the occasional cosmetic flag through the various combat missions...

I would have expected this to be the shortest thread 2021...
