The Sorrows of Young Kapitänleutnant

I mentioned the similarity to the WoT wheelies in another thread... Fortunately, my new rig now has ample diskspace for me to install... alternative content, shall we say... -
The Sorrows of Young Kapitänleutnant

So... the best possibly scenario is preventing the subs from creating havoc long enough that your team will win by the points... I hope your stern isn't ticklish... -

Also consider, will the CV's consider chasing after subs (that fairly likely can dive and avoid their 'charmful attention') or DD's, assuming they have a choice. I think what actually is the fly in the sub's ointment, is the ASW airstrike some BB's have. Depending, of course, on the situation. -

You've given a name for your reality? I need one too, for my Parallel Universe................... Crapzone-Gamma -
Perhaps they didn't bother to have the voiceover recorded in Argentina and chose instead to find some Spanish speaker close by in Russia who, due to the nature of things, turned out to be a Venezuelan. Unlikely Hugo Chávez himself though... With smaller language areas they won't run into this sort of problems, because you can easily find a 'general' accent for most languages in Europe, like the Dutch, Swedish (though they don't seem want to do that...) and so on. English and Spanish probably cover the largest area of the world, so there's bound to be lots more variation, and importantly, differing national standards.

Submarines, should they be removed from Random Battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Dukemaster105's topic in General Discussion
We now got our version of the wheelies. Any more or less former WoT players know full well what that means. -
On a more serious note. Yes, it's kind of a strange omission....

Too many officers with names like Hamilton and Douglas?

Yes... but I have to say I'm dubious about having U boats chase after their targets at flank speed. What they could do is move to intercept the convoy without alerting the escort ships. The way I see it, it was more of a waiting game than a chasing game.
-
Brilliant design isn't it. In real life, the subs wouldn't be moving, or they'd be dead. You don't chase the subs around around half the ocean, and the subs also won't go around chasing after you. All of this points to one inescable fact: the whole concept is incredibly badly designed and implemented. oh... I just realised, that statement covers about 95% of the game as it currently stands (or falls...).

Just in case, you will only be a returning player if you've been smart enough to stay away from all their titles.

Sadly... WG(mz) planned this very very shrewdly by putting up no less than a tier X ship for this auction. In a certain sense it does not matter that this is not a premium ship but only a tech tree ship in early access, and that's because it is a top tier ship, a BB, something that many, especially newer players would be really prepared to bid for because it will give them an instant access to tier X battles without the grind through the tiers. A cunning plan... one that's made them a bundle I'm willing to bet, no (or only marginal) pun intended.

Submarines, should they be removed from Random Battles?

Ah ahah... shame on me but that reminded me of an article I once read and of a certain Dr. Aronov mentioned there who was so unaccustomed at driving a car his hand kept missing the gear lever .... Perhaps the fantasy started a bit 'like this: “You’re walking along the seashore when you see a handsome Soviet CV sailing toward you.”'... -
Submarines, should they be removed from Random Battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Dukemaster105's topic in General Discussion
Well.. uhm... I'd still take the CV's because at least they belong in the MM (with consideration to the historical era in question) unlike the subs (someone's obviously dirty fantasy). -
Submarines, should they be removed from Random Battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Dukemaster105's topic in General Discussion
Well, as a tank WoT is a complete mess, as a naval warfare game WoWS is more tragic than a Greek tragedy, and what I heard about WoWP makes me glad I haven't touched that with a ten yard stick... Maybe they should have just applied for a gambling license in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Monte Carlo or Macao and everybody would have been much happier. -
At least they have such wonderfully beautiful names.

Why not just pull the game and be done with it ?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to MightyMac22's topic in General Discussion
Not in this game, not in this meta. I'm saying how it's supposed to work, and how it was, to some extent, with the RTS CV's we had when the game was... better than the $$$$ show we're being 'spoiled' with now. -
But but... what about the placebo effect?

Submarines, should they be removed from Random Battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Dukemaster105's topic in General Discussion
Well.. we have evidence showing that BB's are now actively running away... so... yeah, I think that's plenty active... -

Why do the subs surface after you launch depth charges? Is it just coincidental?

Legendary captain Lutjens and new line.
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Sir_Grzegorz's topic in General Discussion
With ships, and I suppose with captains too, I've always been somewhat unable to decide which is the best option: A) go for maximizing their strengths; or B) try to address their weaknesses.
