I thought you wanted to have the subs in the game?

... and if the players don't like it, change the players...

Sub_O on NA: As we would all expect...
Karasu_Browarszky replied to SodaBubbles's topic in General Discussion
Yeah.. like Jekyll and Hide. -
Uhm... Let's see now. Let's first ask ourselves, is there a way to make the subs work in randoms? If the answeris no, that is pretty much the end of the matter, or it should be. If the answer is yes, then how, exactly. But the more interesting question I would ask is, why bother? What overriding itch is there that needs to be scratched exactly this way, by having the subs in the randoms at all?

Well.. I can only speak for myself, but with the introduction of the subs this game has one more element in it that defies my own perceptions of what this game should be like. More precisely, WG(mz) keeps placing everything in every game mode they can come up, until finally everything is literally the same. I'm not going to mention the islands or CV's (though, I guess I just did...), but when it comes to the subs, many of us here have voiced their opinion that the subs are welcome, but only if they are restricted to one or more specific game modes tailored for them, such as a Convoy mode, submarine operations and such. Not in the randoms or other pre-existing game modes.

There's two kind of players. Those, who can conduct an objective analysis of the game and the meta. Then there are those who can't do that. The best they can do is try to form an 'informed opinion' based on how they experience it and using any objective data that they can find. Like on this forum. I belong to the latter group. Unlike the first group of players, players like me pretty much have to take it or leave it.

FTFY The way how you 'experience' CV's vs subs has to do with what you are playing. From the point of view of a DD, I'd say the CV remains a bigger threat, at least in the first half of the battle. Towards the end, the balance might shift the say way as the DD's become stronger the longer they survive.

Sub_O on NA: As we would all expect...

Years back, I think most of us bought that illusion, it's the most expensive thing WG's ever managed to sell me. -
Ah... do you think we might one day also see those extremely OP British fishing trawlers as well?
-
Hmm... with these forums you never know who's posting and whatever alias... not that I'm ever trying to imply anything in this case but... As for crying about the subs. Well, I used to play WoT regularly, then they put in the wheelies. I used to cry about the wheelies, until I stopped. Then, I also, for all practical purposes, stopped playing WoT as well. I only do an occasional couple of battles a few times a year these days. Sooo... I guess it is possible to stop crying about the subs.

I once encountered a sub. It had a deck gun. It shot at my DD. My DD sank. -

Their BS is 100% recycleable. WG(mz) is 100% eco-friendly! -

Now we know why there aren't many people on the forums telling us how fun the subs are and what a great job WG's done with them. They are all too busy playing subs.... -

WoWs business model outpaced the UI
Karasu_Browarszky replied to ZaalKoris_vas_QwibQwib's topic in General Discussion
Is there a miscommunication or a communication gap or something? -
Likewise. But I'm trying to be creative in finding ways to hang on.

Well.. whenever people criticize WG doing stupid, ridiculous, destructive things there's a... 'silent majority' (?) which loves to remind us that 'it is an arcade game'. Apparently, when you got an 'arcade game' all other considerations are rendered worthless. Ee... the autoloaders weren't the biggest problems in my book, more like a nuisance on top of every nuisance. My traditional gripe in WoT was essentially the same as in WoWS; dodgy spotting mechanics. Only in WoT they've always been actually even more dodgy than in WoWS. The one thing that completely wrecked WoT for me was not the autoloaders, it was the 'wheelies'. And the 'wheelies' do not have any similarities with the superships. They are the WoT equivalent of the WoWS subs. That is what makes me afraid.

WG(mz) strategy seems to be not to encourage people to enjoy playing, but to encourage people to enjoy paying. I'm going to enjoy playing selectively, and paying even more selectively.

Any QoL improvements to the UI would be most welcome.

Developer Bulletin Update 10.10: Initial Comments
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Aethervoxx's topic in General Discussion
A little.. counterintuitive, IMO. Conventional wisdom would require the gunnery ranges (and thus, range of engagement) to become more extended higher the tier, and the map sizes to follow suit. This principle is not consistently enough (or at all) observed by WG when it comes to game balance and map design. IMO, that's also one of the reason why at least I find the mid tiers (or ... past tense as we now have thes subs...) more enjoyable than the higher tiers (even though my most played tier is 8, at least for now). The meta, while far from ideal, is more balanced on the mid tiers. Or at least, that's what the case has been till now.
