It ain't that easy to leave. Hope you still visit the forums. We all know they provide much much more quality entertainment than the game (as it currently is...).

We all know that if we could only have real ships on the higher tiers, a certain navy, which I will be exceptionally considerate not to mention specifically (as I don't think I really have to.....) would virtually completely run out of ships halfway up the tech tree....
-
I've just discovered what WG(mz)'s ultimate diabolical plan is. They are planning to turn this game into a combination of Pacman and Space Invaders...

LIMITED terror.

Then there was the PC version released later on. 90's nostalgia, though not just nostalgia. If we could combine 'olde time' game design with modern graphics...

Agreed, though I'd like to see them in a Convoy mode. I'm not against increased variety of content, I'm against shockingly bad implementations of it.

Is there a difference? The sub always comes out on top, no pun intended. Unless I'm playing the sub in which case it's a totally different scenario...
-
Oh, like fighting against the subs, you mean?

[Info]: Possibly one of the most important posts for our understanding of WoWs gunnery dispersion and in-game hidden parameters related to it!

And... Tashkent is a real ship. Funny, isn't it? -
Thank the Almighty. I was silently afraid I had gone completely senile already.
-
Did we actually have it in the game? I seem to recall something... but it didn't last long did it?
-
If only we could...

As I understood it, Izumo conversion was completed and Kaga is to undergo a similar conversion next.
-
Undergoing conversion as we speak.

Was anyone born then?

True, we frequently use gunboat/torpedoboat by way of shorthand on these forums to refer to those parallel tech tree lines.
-
There's the MTB/PT craft that I think most of us today think of when talking about torpedo boats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motor_torpedo_boat

Yeah.. guided weapons require electronic countermeasures. WG could of course give the subs wire guided torpedos... we'd finally find some use for the scissors part of the rock-paper-scissors combo.

I haven't quit properly. I come ranting here on the forums and then I sneak back into the game... No, seriously speaking. I haven't quit per se, but I play a lot less than before... and I play on two accounts even, only in a very limited way. While I was still playing randoms my battle count was dropping fast, even before the subs appeared. With the subs in the game, I've switched from randoms to coop. In some way, I now play a few more battles than when I was still trying to find a reason to play the randoms, but I still spend a lot less time in battles compared to still, say, a few months ago. On some days, all I do is a daily login, collect the Armory freebies if any, and head onto another game completely.

I'd say that the way any warships is played differs a lot on what type of game we are talking about. I've played simulation games featuring submarines more than games with surface ships. I've liked both, but most of the titles I've played are 'pre-historic' by the present time. IIRC, World of Warships has been advertised as 'naval warfare simulation' previously. I'm not sure if that's an official source and designation or something that someone's come up in 'unofficial' content online. I wouldn't expect submarines or any other warship in this game to have controls that operate on the level of simulation complexity. The issue here is more about what makes sense gameplay/immersion wise. Ultimately, of course, what is fun and what isn't.
-
Don't you worry, I do.

Err... sorry for quoting you again but... Let's just keep things simple, like Wikipedia does!: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warship ... and say that submarines and torpedo boats are warships even though they aren't ships, but boats... The biggest fault line I percieve here has to do with what people are looking for in this game. An arcade semblance of reality showing action based combat between elements of naval warfare in various PvP and PvE game modes providing the player with fun and engaging gameplay and enough historical authenticity to enable suspension of disbelief (aka immersion) while not being an actual simulation game due to the constraits of the online multiplayer genre. Or... a free for all where reality is fantasy and people can play anything they want, anywhere they want, be it a warship or a kitchen sink. BTW Silent Hunter is an excellent game, gold standard! WoWS... on the other hand...
