Well.. technically, yes. Though, I think the difference of spending and investing may get a little blurry at times. I think it's down to the fact that with 'investing' you may perhaps expect to get something that you don't expect with 'spending'. Of course, normally, you wouldn't 'invest' money or time on games, or even a lot of other things that are supposed to provide you with fun and entertainment. The reason why it gets blurry, I think, is the online games are seen as long time 'ventures' and commitments, whereas stand alone single player games rarely fit into that category.

There's three ways how a larger number of modes wouldn't be a problem. Stable, preferably an expanding rather than a shrinking playerbase. (Variety in terms of content should attract more players) Variation in game, you wouldn't need to grind just one mode ad infinitum, players could switch back and forth between the modes as they choose. Rotating content, keeping some modes for special events that rotate from season to season, or month to month.

Oh... Murmansk Convoy mode.. I can picture it. Would be interesting to see if WG(mz) could make something good along those lines. That is... if they actually gave a rat's **** about things.

I'm not entirely sure, if I can reliably estimate how all those changes would change the game, some seem to make it harder to play, though. I agree, nonetheless, that many of these issues need fixing, but I'm sure many see no problems with them as they currently are. It's clear, WG can't please everyone with their choices, but for the most part they seem to be clueless about how they need to develop the game mechanics. How they need to fix things, that is. Originally, the game offered a far better playing experience, then.. in smaller or bigger steps, they went on to break it. Fix their game they must.

That preliminary list of yours will give you a good starting point, now you just need to expand on that.
