Well, when you put it like that.. the only thing worse than underfunding your navy is funding the wrong sorts of programs which is what could have happened if the RN had gone the superbattleship route over building a carrier force. Not that the RN necessarily needed the kind of a carrier task force that the Americans came to use. The point, however is, that they missed the rise of the carrier and were still dependent on seeing the battleship as the decisive element. A sentiment I actually can share, but a counterproductive one given how technology was going to develop. Japan got a headstart in this regard, meaning in the development of naval aviation, a fact that was somehow apparently missed by the British which is ironic as it could not have happened without a little... shall we say, 'unsanctioned' help from Britain.

Currently the bots are beyound pathetic. Last coop battle, no less than 3 bots rammed islands and got stuck.

As long as we are dealing with difficult circumstances and fog of war, not gross incompetence. Not that I know of any instance of direct incompetence, per se, and one factor we can't dismiss is that the Royal Navy was essentially underfunded in the interwar years.
-
For us or the bots, I wonder...

The problem is, when you get a fire you should disengage, but the gimmicks and dodgy stuff in the game make that a little too difficult at times. Unless... you really only play way back from the enemy, at 90 to 95% of your maximum range.

Uhm.. IIRC, the only thing I experienced is how some of the Modstation mods stopped working (temporarily) following last update. I've now re-installed those 'missing' mods myself, though they'll probably break again following next update.
-
Well, some of the official modes were not updated for a while. They did eventually get updated, but of course you needed to reinstall them manually. This applied to some of the UI elements, I don't know if any of the crosshairs were 'unavailable'. Other than that, all your settings are saved at client end, so maybe the settings file got somehow corrupted?
-
The only reason I could think of is if you reinstalled the game but are too ashamed to admit it....

The mistake was due to not realizing how much the 'meta' had changed with the technological advances that had been made to improve and strengthen carrier strength and performance. Typically, the fault lies with the Admiralty as is usual in the cases when doctrines as not kept up to date with reality.

Is there any limit to the arcade stupidity?

If a torpedo hits a BB in the right spot at just the right angle, it may hit in such a way as to cause a detonation. At least this has happened with some high tier German BB, may be possible with others as well.

You may perhaps experience a degree of technical difficulty with your otherwise admirable plan.

Yeah... you know how GTA Online is one of those huge MMO's out there... I play it regularly, but always in a private lobby... -
The WG "Sub_Octavian" replied to my Reddit thread about latest "Submarine Survey"...
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Plus they often include initial set of questions (not just WG), that gauge if you are part of their 'target group'. Give the 'wrong' answers, and the survey will quickly end. I noticed this when I was filling in some survey online. I replied to the first couple of questions, and the survey ended with the usual 'thank you' page. What was a little less usual, though, is that when I looked at the page URL up, it spelled out very plainly 'not in the target group' or words to that affect.... -
Well... no. Not always.

Karasu_Browarszky replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well, yes. It's not just WG, though, that's how all the 'important' surveys are done. You first pick the results you want, and then you shift through your database and find the target samples you want that you may reliably expect to return the wanted results. Well.. I predict the one they sent out will return just that result, and the one which most of us here filled in (uninvited) will return the opposite results, and be ignored, of course. -

So.... another issue with subs.....
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the clarification. I agree that it is not a fair indicator and shows that WG has no clue about how to balance the subs. There's no indicators for radar or DCP cooldowns, or for any enemy use of consumables. All that's down to player experience and/or luck. The subs should be removed from the modes where they do not fit in. With the CV's, you can make an argument about them not fitting in, and forcing them into the sort of game modes we now have breaks the game (not that WG(mz) cares...), but not to the degree the subs are doing... (... but will WG(mz) care any better about that...). Both the subs and CV's belong in this game, but only in selected game modes. Or, to put that in another way, if they are kept in the coop/random modes, we are going to need more of those dedicated game modes to balance things out. If they are kept in the 'generic' game modes, WoWS is even more desperately going to need separate 'Carrier Battle', 'Gun Battle' and 'Submarine Battle' modes. ... along with well developed Scenario Battle and Convoy Operations modes. Then again, I think most of us know this, it's unclear whether that is the case at 'Lesta City'. -
Or Richthoffen planes....

So.... another issue with subs.....
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
I understand your complaint, but even if it's 'intentional' it may not be dishonest per say, merely inaccurate. The indicators we have, whether vanilla or modded, don't seem to give precise information. The RDF does not point to the exact direction of the enemy, but to an approximate direction, nor does it tell you anything about the range. Then there are the accurate indicators, like the radar blips or spotting, but those have their limitations as well, whether time based or otherwise coded in. -

Karasu_Browarszky replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
Hmm.. yes... but.... 'asymmetrical knowledge'... there's a lot of stuff you don't know in battle, knowing it would help you to win. At least in some way this makes more sense than enemy ships dropping out of hyperspace about three times closer than you should see them coming. -
Yes, 'something unknowable' takes us straight to the Twilight Zone.

Not the Makarov, surely!

Stalingrad was a good map, but for some reason the community hated it. I assume it's the same community that likes the wheelies...
