... Perhaps we need a pinned 'General Islands related discussions'.

But.. in a good sort of way. IMO we need that variety, meaning both high seas fleet engagement type of naval battles (The Ocean and marginally some of the more open old maps we used to have...) where the movable force clashes with and rams the penetrable barrier of the enemy battle line... , as well more of the sort of coastal skirmishes. The thing is, the latter are better suited for the light elements and are completely ridiculous for the capital ships in the game.

WG promoting Operations again?????
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Johnny_Moneto's topic in General Discussion
So would I... in real life, Cherry Blossoms are due in about two months (or less; well, a little longer if you live closer to the arctic reaches..). Would really like to see a bit of action make it back into the game. -

No kind words for the Yukon?.. I mean there's even a nice flag and all that up for grabs... -
The opted for a radical option with the Mikasa. That kind of permanent mooring will cut maintance costs down in a major way, yet I don't know of any other ships that are permanently docked that way. With floating ships, the cost are inevitably higher, and the risks of flooding higher. Here's something, BTW, you never get to see any more these days:

Any old ship would have most of these problems (apart from the weapon systems though I think the navy would quickly remove those regardless). Museum ships don't seem to be an economically very sound venture, even when commercialised they aren't necessarily doing all that well. Think of the Queen Mary, not exactly up to museum quality (except in parts), but AFAIK, she (the ship) /it (the hotel) is not having a stellar economic record as a floating hotel either.

But I wan't ships and big naval battles, gunfire, excitement, Russian ships taking an around-the-world cruise (to Manila). Big things, much excitement. Don't want no planes so much, and I definitely don't want to go boating (at least not in randoms/coop).

Well it's dirt cheap compared to what you pay and what you get with WoWS.

I think the BB's are in large part doing it more to avoid the HE spammers, and optionally the CV planes. In general, many people tend to shy over from whatever they perceive as the strongest threat which is natural, per se, but doesn't make for very fantastic gaming.

What's the logic around BBs Airstrike range??
Karasu_Browarszky replied to OldschoolGaming_YouTube's topic in General Discussion
A typical gimmick in the World of Wargimmicks. As for the proper explanation, the range is based on the elastic tolerances of their propeller rubber bands. -
[Poll] Which consequences have the unhappy players drawn?

Submarines are not that frequent on mid tiers at least. Not that I do a lot of randoms, mostly I do Coop either for the missions or out of necessity (odd hours). -

Well.. I've watched a lot of comedy including scores of Benny Hill Shows so I'm rather thick skinned when it comes to 'undignified' humor. (Almost) anything goes, as long as it's all done in the best possible taste. Still wondering if Dasha is one of those Perovs who are my distant cousins... -

You should try pinging some of them. Cause even Google does not know, if you can possibly imagine there being something they don't already know. -

One of my ancestors had three, apparently chopped off black heads. Each wearing a white powdered wig. Very posh. -

I have several distants (distant cousins) who have a red troll on their shield. The troll's kind of headless, though, but running wild. The head is stuck on top of a bucket of sorts with lettuce all around. -

Well.. there are times with the good colonel says something, like an uncomfortable truth you may find it hard to disagree with, but most people don't see that as they are blocking his posts.. and even if they do see it I sense they may still end up hating it or feeling strangely perplexed Keeping an open mind, and an eye on the colonel's posts should I ever be in need of hours of forum time spent on extended reading and crazed typing. Pro tip. Just be careful not to end up disagreeing with your own initial reply. -

I sort of get what you are saying about having an open mind, but when having an open mind you have to be careful what you expose yourself to (or, alternatively, are being exposed to). As for the news media, the basic paradigms are crystal clear; reporting is based on facts as they are known at the time (and if they change you report that because you stay on the story) and needs to be unbiased (at least as far as not having a concious bias goes), commenting/analyses must always be clearly separate from news reporting. The problem, obviously, is that this paradigm gets followed less and less in the media which means, you have to be more cautious with having an open mind than what used to be the case. -
