Well, currently I don't like how gimmicky the aiming/tracking/detection process is. IMO, either you got a visual sighting or you don't, in which case you either give up or rely on reported sighting coordinates for your lock on. The game should be able to handle this easily. And all this would be welcome, would spice up things real nicely. Yes!

You don't see how it just gets better every time you see it? Since there's hardly anything worth watching on the telly these days, on either side, I typically grab a fresh drink and popcorn in anticipation for what must be the highlight of my evening. -
I don't think the OP wants to make them more visible than they are now, though. It's the blinking effect that's the issue here. At the very least, the game should maintain lock on target that gradually becomes more imprecise unless they get a new visual sighting on the target within a certain time.

Yes, that would be preferable. I just don't know how the game engine could cope with that.

You need to ask yourself why that's the case. Then you need to ask why WG in their infinite wisdom have chosen to make it so.

Not even the bots are immune to those problems. Other day, in a coop match my team Iron Duke was stuck on an island, with the red team Iron Duke stuck on the other side of the island.

These are among the oldest ships in WoWS, they go back to the days of when this really was 'a thinking man's game' and an up and coming title for ship & navy fe... enthusiasts. I'm not sure if they've received any significant buffs along the years, to keep them 'competitive' against the later additions. -

True. The most probable reason why they didn't fight in the middle of the Ocean, like the Atlantic, or the Pacific, is that the likelihood of such of engagement would have needed to be based on prior agreement like... 'Guys, X marks the spot where we will fight this out without any crowds, okay?'. Also, from a logistical point of view that would have been dumb as.. well.. something that rhymes with 'duck'. You wouldn't want to have your fleet zig zagging and cris crossing Oceans just in case there's a chance of them running into anything more threatening than a yellow rubber duck. Depending on the era, they might have either caused maintanence issues and/or run into enemy submarines. There would have been convoys, either escorted transports or fleets in transit, but the main focus of the battle fleets would have been to guard and watch each other's movements, either maintaining blockades or running them. This type of engagements would most likely occur in the various larger bodies of water, with land, friendly ports and bases within reach, but still in open water, not in coastal waters as WoWS maps seem to imply. WG's take on things feels like having to eat turnips pretending it is candy.

It's not always just about the ship, it's how the high tiers work.. or fail to work. -

Yes, but.. overall, except for some very rare exceptions as far as high tier cruisers go, the cruiser play gets more and more frustrating the higher you go tierwise.

I play them because they are Japanese, not because they are cruisers. -
Uhm.. Worth it? Depends what you mean by it. WoWS gameplay changes drastically as you go up the tiers, until it finally disintegrates when reaching the very highest tiers, depending, of course, which ships you play... Playing below T5 is worth it if you are doing something else than the missions or grinding. Battles played on Tiers 1 to 4 register toward the 'Naval Battle' and meeting some requirements either in coop or randoms is easier there. The midtiers... I've long considered those the 'sweet spot' of WoWS gameplay. This is why I now mostly stick to tiers 5 to 7, 8 not really that much, 9/10 somewhat rarely.

The Milk Whales have woken up for 2022. For me it also looks normal. I use mods, but none for the ocean IIRC.

Correcting myself, it's not the TAB key. It is the ALT key getting stuck that causes the controls go haywire. Like pressing ENTER not giving you chat, pressing the ever useful SHIFT + F12 for the critical message needed, and trying to press F4 will be like normally pressing ALT + F4. So tapping the ALT key sets it back to normal. -
DD's with stylish interiors?

Confirmed, the little b*****s are still there. Hear, hear! Well.. don't play much CV's (due to gameplay reasons) or cruisers (for balance reasons), but I do play DD's as well as BB's and I favor the Ocean. Or, failing that, maps with wide expanses of open water. Exactly! A re-balance/combat role issue....
