You know the bearing, but what can you do with that knowledge?

Potato Quality: Please stop giving out this advice.

Typically, I'd assume that that someone who feels they are at a disadvantage goes into the passive mode. -

That's a spotting mechanics/map design induced problem IMO. It's hard to come up with a tactical solution, the best would be to see that in advance and avoid getting into the mess in the first place. The caps are a problem, though, but the caps don't always decide who gets to win. I've seen plenty of matches were one team has taken all the caps, failed to defend them due to being too spread out, lost the caps and then the battle as well. You have to try to avoid situations where the enemy can bear a greater amount of firepower on any section of your team. How exactly... that's the question. -

Every change WG makes to WoWS seems to be hand picked to make the game more and more passive. Seems to me that one way to go about this problem is to try and adapt to passive game play tactically. The other way is to try and find tactical solutions which will counter passive play. B****r me if I know which way is the best to go, or would exactly this would entail on the tactical level. -
That depends on what exactly are they moving. Do we even know exactly how many things are going to change and how?

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Happened to spot @BLUB__BLUB in his Yolo Emilio. We engaged the red team and everything went according to plan... their plan, not ours... -
I just had a retarded experience against a sub. There's no counterplay after you use DCP once. The next ping comes in about 20 secs after that and then the torps hit. Sub not spotted, your joke ASW option reduced to.. not even worth wasting time on. I'm either going to have to avoid randoms altogether, or.. not move from spawn location/line, just cruising back and forth till the sub is sunk.

Interesting when you think what's missing from that lineup. -

Perhaps we need a new definition for overextending? -
can anchors be used in the game ?

Funny, isn't it... -
If there was a mode without CVs....

@Pukovnik7 Wargaming did originally come up with better maps than what we now have. Some of the older maps still in rotation are on the lower tiers, and they, despite having many rocks, still are better than the current high tier maps. Also.. there was the Ocean.... ... and the many great maps that the Scenario Battles had, gone with the Scenario Battles now, of course.... So... it looks like they did a hell of a lot better job with the original game design than what we've seen in the past few years. -

Just one sub, if the player has clearly better-than-average skills can pretty much wreck the game play for that flank. It's not just the homing (you 'waste' a DCP), or the torps (they can hit hard enough to be a problem), or the stealth spotting for their team (who will keep shooting at you), but also how there is no direct way for you to actually spot the submerged sub at the sort of distance where he is engaging (and spotting) you. If you are good enough yourself, you can try and guess his location based on the ping/torps bearing and approximate distance. That's pretty much the counterplay options you have short of running for cover. -
Constructive criticism of subs thread
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Nagine's topic in General Discussion
An actual real Convoy mode, not the weird one we had briefly. You could set up a Convoy mode with a mix of warships and transports/merchantmen, varying in composition from either being a troop/supply convoy or a naval convoy with support ships, depending on the MM. This mode could be made playable both as a PvP mode as well as a Scenario Battle mode. If... WG wanted to make it so. -
Constructive criticism of subs thread
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Nagine's topic in General Discussion
Well, I'm firmly in the lobby that thinks that subs should be in a separate game mode, to some extent because they somehow don't 'belong' in the randoms, and even more so because they don't seem to fit in the randoms due to how the game mechanics work. At best, I suppose, they could work as a variant of DD game play with some of their advantages and disadvantages magnified. -

The bottom line seems to be, the subs are either OP or they suck the sediment depending on who's playing them. -

So... 145 % of the players are against the subs. Very Russian figures. -

Perhaps the fact that subs don't fit in the randoms. -
I think most of the player base is about 10 people with multiple accounts.
Karasu_Browarszky replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Many people tend to play the same ships unless they are grinding something, and nowadays many people if they are grinding are probably also grinding the same ships, and they tend to play these ships more or less the same from battle to battle. They will be playing on the exact same set of maps they've been playing for years, and people tend to be creatures of habit so they will play the same maps the same way pretty consistently. -
There's also the National and National + settings. I use the + setting myself because it allows for the voices of the special captains to be heard, like Jingles and Cap.

I think it's bugged, you basically have to switch back to Port view and go back to the container ship so it's bloody annoying. -

what do you think about the revised submarine gameplay?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to CoffeeVendor's topic in General Discussion
True, you might get some idea where a single sub is if your team mates alert others when there is one in their vicinity (when pinged or attacked with torps). The subs can ping and fire torps and remain unspotted, so they won't show up on the minimap.
