    First steel ship?

Would you say it's a slightly more difficult a ship to play, though?

If you could make up a ship...

Well... since we don't seem to have any proper 'action' going on in the pre-dreadnaught/pre-WW1... or even WW1 era (it just doesn't feel legit any more on those 1-4 tiers any more, and you can't do the missions,.. and the queue times are murder too...)... I'd like something along the lines of 'fantasy' high tier versions of the early 20th century ships like the Mikasa, Iron Duke, Pam... er... or perhaps not those right now... Wouldn't be historically even as accurate as the low tier play but at least I'd get to play those ships a little more.

More of those rocks of yours, I see...

More resource container droprates are wonky

I guess, if you can call anything statistically relevant when it comes to this game... one way would be to harvest exactly 100 containers and open them at once. Except... I think you'd have to be careful to open all the miscellaneous containers from various mission reward and daily login drops to keep it possible. A lot of trouble still, in other words.

    First steel ship?

None of these ships seem very common, or at least I don't see them that often. Napoli is probably the one I have seen around at times. Napoli is also featured on this video here. It's a ship that I might be interested in except I don't really feel comfortable enough with the cruisers.
  6. BTW, I tried both the MSAA/FXAA and the TXAA options in the same battle. The only visible change I noticed was that the MSAA/FXAA seemed to take a few FPS off at times. Visually, I did not see one or the other as being any better.

Interesting new video on USS Salem

Well, yes. If there are museum ships that are close enough they can shoot certain scenes on those but.. I'm not sure how easy it is to actually film in the internal parts of the ships because of the technical requirements they need for the lighting and room for the camera crew and how they work out the angles. Modern equipment is smaller and lighter, though, so I guess it can be done if it's carefully planned and rehearsed. Otherwise they have to build replica sets for certain parts of the ships, or there is no surviving ship that would do, like the Yamato, they have to build parts and do the parts with CGI.

Interesting new video on USS Salem

These days the special effects like CGI + built sets could solve this problem and 'resurrect' any ship needed for a movie. It's just they don't seem to be making many interesting movies these days in general, and specifically not when it comes to war movies and naval battles/ships. They made a lot more of those in the good old times...

try Carrier for first time get a unsportman

It's a little strange then, because AFAIK, you don't get unsportsmanlike conduct just because you get zero damage. For instance, if you D/C right at the start or fail to load the battle and once you finally do get back (if you get back) and your ship is sunk, you will go pink. But if you move around during the battle it should be enough, even if you you can't hit a single thing during the battle. Er... that at least is what a friend told me how it is...

try Carrier for first time get a unsportman

Don't play CV's... So, the problem is you can't do damage? Try first in coop till you learn the basics. Did you stay in the spawn spot, by the way? Not moving at all, not using your engines?

Interesting new video on USS Salem

In most sources old Georgios is listed as 'armoured cruiser', because that was the ship was throughout her service, I suppose. I have no clue how the RN classified it, apart from the fact she was assigned to convoy duties. In The Royal Navy and the Mediterranean by G. A. Titterton, Georgios Averof is listed simply as a 'cruiser'.

    Georgios Averof armored cruiser(Pisa-class)

Georgios Averof, and other pre-dreadnoughts is something I'd like to see more in the game. Played separately from the WW1 era or later ships, or course.

I see your reasoning, but I don't agree that you should mix up ship types of the pre-dreadnought era with the dreadnought era classifications. Actually, make that post-dreadnought era because that's where the Hawkins showed up. I think it's better to give the Georgios Averof credit as an armored cruiser with a very long service record spanning two world wars.

Interesting new video on USS Salem

Yes, but there's more to it if you see these as a system of classification of specific types of warships. Wikipedia explains it fairly well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armored_cruiser https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invincible-class_battlecruiser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_cruiser Technically speaking, then, Georgios Averoff isn't a heavy cruiser. She meets some of the criteria, but not all. I see what you mean, though, with the Hawkins class heavy cruisers. They predate the Washington Naval Treaty of 1922 but seem to be something of a 'prototype' for the treaty based concept of heavy cruisers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawkins-class_cruiser

Interesting new video on USS Salem

'The last heavy cruiser to enter service and the last one to remain'. If he meant 'in service', though, that is inaccurate as you say, cause Des Moines remained in service longer. Ah.. I get it now, Georgies Averoff isn't a heavy cruiser, but an armored cruiser. Still, I think her action following the Ionian earthquake is noteworthy, even if it wasn't a battle, and exceptional in its own way. Plus, you get a museum German pocket battleship thrown in the bargain!

Simon Whistler has released lots of videos on various interesting subjects. They are packed with a lot of information in a user friendly format. Highly recommended for viewing.

    Lock-on bug or something else?

The islands and other such obstacles definitely interfer with the mechanics, you can see this when using a dynamic crosshair where the scale goes haywire when a rock gets into your line of fire. Now, I don't know if it interfers with the aim mechanics and dispersion as well, but I consider it a distinct possibility. Nobody knows how to eff up things like our good old WG.

    World of Torpedos!?!?

I see you've encountered the subs.

Subs getting buffs - some quite massive

    Coop here we come...
  22. Karasu_Browarszky

Maybe it's time to stop blaming Subs and CV's on passive gameplay.

Well, we did have passive game play before... but I'm still not going to reconsider my position.

    First steel ship?

One aspect to think about, BTW, when it comes to those high tiers is that what is the current worth of T9 ships, especially premium/special ships because they are now going to 'feature' as bottom tier in against 10's and Superships. Would it be fair to assume that T10 ships are now more cost effective in terms of how much resources you want to use? There's the added bonus tier 10 ships have over the 9's, you get better rewards from collecting snowflakes on tier 10, and the Super Containers that only T10 ships give you when those are available to pick up.

    First steel ship?

Have you had a chance to play the Satsuma? How would it stack up against the Shikishima in terms of performance? I'm not seriously considering either one of them, myself, but if I were, I'd probably rather spend the credits than the steel, especially since for me steel is hard to come by.

OMG what a turd Tulsa is......

That's a problem for me, at least, overall when it comes to cruiser play. You see nothing, but everyone sees you. Till there's nothing to see, that is.
