Yes, the danger of this being a fallacy is there. Trust your feelings, @Fastmotion. It seems to me, if you really wanted to get close to the original teachings, as far as we can tell, you would need to be fully cognisant of the realities and language of the 5th Century BC. If you aren't, you are having to rely on various interpretations, both on the lexical and subject levels, which means it's not going to be exactly the same. A somewhat unattainable goal, in a sense. Then again, the concept of Buddha is not exclusive which opens up the kind of possibilities you mention. The real idea of Buddhism is for each and everyone to discover, the path to enlightenment. What one needs to discover is what is relevant and what is not. Most people do not feel obliged to go that far or that deep, not even those who claim to practice Buddhism as a religion. They prefer to stick to any of of the earlier or later interpretations, and it is my impression that they stick to the letter of those interpretations, rather than the spirit. Then again, many do not even plan to go that far, and reject the idea of 'practicing' Buddhism and are content instead of observing the customs and traditions. I think this can be called the 'easy' or 'simple' path. I also think it will suffice if it brings something positive to their lives. I don't see any reason to complicate things where such complications are not desired or needed. I agree in a sense. This community sees the subs in a number of ways, there are many paths and they do not seem to cross easily. There is also a growing sense of frustration and that frustration is directed at the game developers, but many people here get caught in the flak as well, even though they are not really responsible for the bad decisions that WG is making and refusing to set right. The people who disagree with you, genuinely think the current implementation of the subs is a mistake. One in a series of many such mistakes which are detracting from what this game could otherwise be.

If I understood it correctly, the phrasing was something he had seen elsewhere.

Well.. if he is saying that some people are obsessed with stats... I think it makes sense. Personally, I'm not obsessed with my stats. Would I love better stats, sure! However, stats are not why I'm playing this game.

This would make me the paragon of health.

i take it this is a 'non-existant talent' then. The problem with something like the teachings of Buddha (and many others) is that they've been written by someone with an exceptional IQ, so much of what they are saying isn't necessarily what they are saying. The clues can be visible where they coincide with science. The teachings run concurrently on several levels, some more accessible than others. There are also followers who are only capable of 'accessing' the outermost form only. Now that's an interesting take.

This is an anomaly in the data. Are you not equipped to handle anomalies?

NVM I misread it. Game 1: 1 sub per team (bonus; 2 CV's per team). Game 2: 0 subs Game 3: 0 subs Game 4: 0 subs

Well, he's talking about physics and metaphysics which takes the subs to a whole new level. Do we actually want to get there is, of course, an entirely different question...
-
Most of what you saying is pure physics, or at least, our understanding of physics which may be true or false. Philosophically speaking, if we assume this to be both true and false, concepts like true and false will also become meaningless. Yet, as persons we attach particular meanings to them based on our interpretations. Within the illusion itself, which we cannot truly - or falsely - escape, all of this seems real and tangible. So, of course, is the suffering, same as pleasure. Both being part of the same continuum. Where does that leave as with the topic? Yes, I can end the suffering by hitting ALT +F4 and quitting the game. Do I want to do that, though? I have my own illusions about this game, and I've grown very attached to them. What that means is that they also have a meaning for me, personally, which means that they now form a part of my 'self'. This 'self' is at odds with the direction WG is taking this game which leaves me, and many others, extremely unhappy. Are we wrong? Are we right? No-one who is part of the illusion that is our concept of reality can actually answer that.

are you guys too geting a lot of free stuff from WG ?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to czolgfilip2's topic in General Discussion
Banned for not spending? I find that unlikely. The game seems to throw freebies at F2P players, especially new accounts. Including a lot of rental ships, coupons etc. with the purpose of getting them to spend money. My recommendation (currently) is that don't; I'd wait and see where the game is headed first. Especially not if you are not experienced enough with the game, the ships and... WG mode of operation.... particularly the latter. -
Logically, then, what you are saying is also false and has no point.

I will need to look into nothing.

'Extreme non-dualism' means running around in circles... isn't that what we are doing. I'm not Charles, either, though.. nor am I an AI algorithm.... All that trouble just to become nothing? I think I can manage that a lot more easily, though, I am friendly towards buddhism but not as a religion.

Still, it's a brilliant piece of coding that makes a 'collision avoidance system' steer your ship straight at the rocks.

Wish that worked for me too... .... or maybe it does I wouldn't know would I...
-
Well, Buddha tells us to be careful of our steps which I take to mean the middle path is not that easy to follow as you'd think.
-
But what if I'm not very good with steps and stumble. Won't I fall flat on my face?

So the secret of winning debates is debating on your own... if only Playdough had known this.

I read that and literally didn't know whether to cry or laugh.

Like.. Elon Musk?

Q and E are hard steer, IIRC they stay in that position unless you release the rudder.

Oh, it's a game, izzit?

I'm still not any the wiser.

I stepped out for a minute... now about 10 pages later, are you guys in the closing arguments yet? Glad I'm not a mod who's gonna have to read everything from page 1 onwards.
