Return of Puerto Rico
Karasu_Browarszky replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
Pretty much so, I think. Coops are 'too quick' for certain types of missions. They are good for 'kill' missions, also maybe capping and cap defense, and for ribbon missions. Anything XP or credits related, I'd opt for the randoms myself. With 'received damage' and 'caused damage' missions, though, I'm less sure which is more efficient timewise, at least in my case. I think in some way Coop is more consistent for an average player. -
Can we have a code for 'I am chatbanned'?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to GrandAdmiralRaeder's topic in General Discussion
Could be useful.. if this is a... recurring issue. -
Do you typically have higher or lower pings? Do the disconnects occur when your ping is high? In general, though, I think using a cable is a better option than wifi. I don't get that many DC's currently, in fact what happens more often now is not being able to connect to the server at all. Not often, but when you were planning to play a couple of battles it's still annoying, just without the risk of going pink for inaction.

The DC's seem to come and go in waves. I don't usually have them, but when I do they appear frequently. What I usually do is try solving it with the 'check for additional sofware' option to see if the cause is down to some Microsoft software being out of date. Then there are of course any issues related to game file integrity, the mods (try running the game in 'Safe Mode' optionally uninstalling your mods first if that helps)... and I think even possibly to DNS and how your connection is routed. Re-installing typically does nothing except wastes your time. You have the option always to generate WGcheck report and contact support if all else fails (or the forum can't help).

Well, it's not P2W but otherwise problematic, of course. I think I only ever bought those starter packs with the Puerto Rico... maybe they should be called 'motivation packs', because buying them means you are committed to the project. Experience indeed has shown it's better to think twice, or even thrice, before opening your wallet here. Steer clear of the traps and hope you will have plain sailing in future!

You and me both answered then. Good poll, start voting folks!

Graf Zeppelin, most crap premium ship!

There's a thought... what's lacking in this game are ship citations. -
Return of Puerto Rico
Karasu_Browarszky replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
@The_Chiv Good tips, cheers! Some of those I do actually make use of, not just for dockyard events but other mission chains as well. What I usually don't like are the mission chains that have a number of stages 'locked' behind a bottleneck mission. Maybe my memories are golden about the PR event, but somehow I think I didn't have such issues back then. I'll have to have a good hard look at the next dockyard event mission chains to see what they look like before deciding whether I'm going to make a serious attempt or not. Generally speaking, you have to make sure you read the mission requirements carefully. For instance, some missions just require ribbons. Any ribbons will do, so typically there's two options you have, rapid firing main guns (certain cruisers especially) and secondary specced BB's. Sometimes it states 'main gun hits' and so on.. When I haven't read them carefully enough, I sometimes notice I've pretty much wasted a number of efforts and time. Also, you need to remember to check which game modes are valid (and which ship classes too!), because they keep changing from mission to mission. Usually, though, Coop is your best choice, except when it isn't. -
Return of Puerto Rico
Karasu_Browarszky replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
Well.. while not disagreeing with how the original Puerto Rico dockyard event was rigged to force most players to spend money due to how they got trapped by the 'sunk cost fallacy' where they had to throw good money after bad money, or time and resources. So it was a scandal even when not considering the 'apology' and statements related to 'providing the disabled, the unemployed etc. with a meaning of life' for the holidays.. and the resulting dumbster fire.... However, if you recognized the need to spend some real money (Doubloons) and gauged how much you needed to spend in relation to how much of the other resources (time/flags etc.) you were able to commit to the dockyard event, you could actually complete the 'remaining' missions with relative ease. I don't remember how much I spent, but it was in line with the typical cost of high tier premium ships. I admit my case is a little 'special' since I didn't have any holiday celebrations, real life, family or social life in risk of getting ruined by it.... Okay, maybe there is a psychological factor at play which works in reverse too. As the Puerto Rico was advertized as a 'free ship' you could look at it in terms of how 'free' you might be able to get it for. Whereas with the later dockyard events it was clear from the outset you will need to fork some money if you plan to get them. Without question, of course, the latter formula is much fairer, but I've typically failed to complete enough missions through gameplay to get to the point where the remaining Doubloon price might be called 'reasonable'. -
Lighthouse Auction - Musashi this weekend
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
But good enough to be worth almost anything? I suppose this is a player related equation, whether they think that for them the Musashi will be a better choice than the more easily available t9/t10 ships, whether premium, special or tech tree. -

Lighthouse Auction - Musashi this weekend
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
.. interesting. Would ranked be popular enough to create a huge demand for the Musashi? Because from a point of view of a random player the ship has little to offer, certainly not at hugely inflated prices. Or are they paving the way for a doubloon Musashi and this is a way to create interest and more hype.... -

I'd say close to something like having a tier 9 Yamato. Then again, given how the Superships have changed the situation it would be far far far far smarter to just grind Yamato and get a permacamo for it. -

This issue is a community wide problem, I don't follow NA or RU, but here as well as on ASIA Forum sub related threads keep popping up like daisies. Here's the latest on ASIA FYI: https://forum.worldofwarships.asia/topic/55816-are-submarines-a-healthy-for-wows/ -

Detection, spotting, sub stats (torp range;speed surfaced/submerged), torpedo ping/homing, ASW/countermeasures all remain totally effed up. Oh.. TLDR; -
Return of Puerto Rico
Karasu_Browarszky replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
Do we actually have it somewhere yet in what they have said? In firm print, I mean. Well.. as firm as it comes with WG considering how the description of the original Puerto Rico event mysteriously got reworded in the published article overnight... -
Return of Puerto Rico
Karasu_Browarszky replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
I did, TBH, had to throw some money at it. Otherwise it would have been pretty much a doomed proposition to even participate in the event. IIRC, the Puerto Rico is the only actual dockyard ship I ever gotten, unless we include those that come as lower stage rewards. Lately, I haven't really bothered with these events at all. -

Return of Puerto Rico
Karasu_Browarszky replied to ________________Morrison's topic in General Discussion
Well, as I understand it the Puerto Rico as the original ship was easier to get than those that have come later, cheaper too, and it was even entirely possible to get the ship for free! -
idea new port view mode where you can put up to 4 ships into taskforce view
Karasu_Browarszky replied to VedranSeaWolf359's topic in General Discussion
Alternatively, the four ships you played last. Would help a bit especially when grinding more than one line.
