Aye. This is a real issue for me too. Fortunately, though. Within certain limits you can make use of the tiers 1 to 4 for 'Naval Battle'. Depending on what the requirements there are.

This is easy to explain. These are torpedoes fired from the adjacent battle, when they cross the map border it breaks their normal range limit and the torps just keep traveling on till they hit something, a ship or an island. This is something I think I've experienced as well. Theoretically... you could say the ship somehow managed to fire the torps right before you sunk it. However... the odd part here is that the bot seems to be good enough to actually predict the course changes I make even after the bot ship has been sunk...

Food for thought. Can you use ASW planes to help your cv?

With ASW planes you can barely help yourself, or not even that. -

Update 0.11.5: U.S. Independence Day
Karasu_Browarszky replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Ah... okay, thanks hadn't noticed this thing though I had actually seen the image of the both patches before. Curiously enough, the RU news has the same article we have: https://worldofwarships.ru/ru/news/sales-and-events/missions-0115/ However, they also have a dedicated article showing both patches: https://worldofwarships.ru/ru/news/sales-and-events/peter_the_great/ It's a little unclear for me how you get them. The monogram patch I think is a completion award, but the imperial standard patch is stated as being given to all who take part in the marathon. I don't know if that means you get it even if you don't finish it or is it just for completion as well. By the looks of it, it appears to be RU only unless someone here knows differently. -
What the **** is this? & Faroe Islands.
Karasu_Browarszky replied to Bear__Necessities's topic in General Discussion
Yeah.. could have actually been more like the real thing, with interesting weather effects and all. The problem with the maps are (apart from the blasted rocks) that they only look different for the most part, and they do look great but they don't really offer any unique features or gimmicks, there's too little of character there to make them meaningful in terms of variety. -
Ш\ь ы I'm sure everyone was very understanding of your situation.

Update 0.11.5: U.S. Independence Day
Karasu_Browarszky replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
The current mission is hidden under the United States article (I know, go figure...) https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/sales-and-events/missions-0115/ The imperial standard is a mission reward but the mission was on offer like ages ago, I mean years ago, can't remember exactly when. Fortunately, Wiki does. https://worldofwarships.com/en/news/sales-and-events/missions-089-weekly-2/ I don't know if the mission's been ever repeated, though. -
Or... enjoyment bias. We remember the game being more fun and the battles being more engaging back in time and if we connect that to playerbase skill it's a foregone conclusion what that will show. While there definitely is a connection between general gameplay and player skill, I don't think relative skill levels are the only thing that make the game enjoyable. It can easily be too easy or too hard, so much of what we think makes the game fun to play better come from something else as well.

Question for people who use mods.
Karasu_Browarszky replied to The_Chiv's topic in General Discussion
Spotted something recently in the news about new breakthroughs. NREL High Efficiency research has produced new solar cell technology that has a record 39.5% efficiency. Even now, there are new residential buildings being constructed with solar panels on roof to produce at least a share of the electricity needed on site. -
Exactly. Though.. TBH, I'm not entirely sure how much of the game's decline really was down to one major mistake like the CV rework, and to what extent that's just become a community rallying point later on and that's why we get that 2019 because everybody knows what 2019 means. Arguably, the CV rework changed the meta considerably, and in my opinion to the worse. I'd still be inclined to believe that there are a number of factors and several other bad development decisions that all compound on each other. If it were possible to undo the CV rework, obviously I'd consider that a step in the right direction, but what I'm saying is that getting the game on the right track is more of a distance event than a sprint. Even if WG was interested, that is...

I've been incompetent since 2015, and still going as strong as ever. It's the other players and the deteriorating meta that cause the problems.

The best way to avoid misunderstanding the reward, though, is to remember that there is no ship unless you see a ship.
-
You know full well what it is that creates the confusion in the image.
-
Yeah.. this one was pretty easy. Hank Bailey was a lot harder to get, doubly so if you ran into the 'Mystery Disappearance of Hank Bailey' bug. This issue that OP posted pops up regularly, because the way WG chooses to present the captain images can easily lead you into thinking there is an actual ship involved when it just indicates that the ship the captain is trained for.
