Can anyone explain the latest LWM/Huron drama?
Karasu_Browarszky replied to black_falcon120's topic in General Discussion
Don't worry, mate. We are all now a little more intelligent and insightful thanks to the thread you created. Especially those of us who practically never go to Reddit. .. and I'm hoping that 'us' includes other people apart from myself... -

Me too, as long as the ship is anchored in reality or at least not yet another potentially disappointing and pointless attempt at monetizing. -

Tell me, have you ever considered a career with WG? I'm under the impression that the job comes with many perks as well. -

What have I missed... I see. Well, it's a little surprising that WG didn't actually manage to break any promises per se, but I can understand why the fact that they once again pull ship stats out of a hat might seem a tad upsetting when you are actually expecting something that's the real thing. -

I think which sections collide matters too, though in a rather wrong way... Hitting bow on to the side of another ship typically results in both sinking... they that should not be the case. Colliding with the sides touching.. the same thing, though I don't think it should be so unless there is some hidden factor that makes the HP's run out really fast. I have no clue how the remaining HP's and ship classes are calculated, if at all, this would need to be tested to find out. In very few cases have I noticed that you can survive ramming, and not always even with a higher HP count for some reason. I remember one time serviving because only the stern section 'rammed' into the enemy ship. Watched the replay.. there is a quite large disparity in terms of the two ships' HP pool to begin with... I'm more surprised that OP didn't sink the second he hit the Ohio... is relative speed some kind of a factor here? Also... should have maybe tried to use those torps... and not show a cruiser broadside to a BB that close... -

Unfortunately for OP, I do not play brawls. -

Yeah.. so if you know who you can beat close up and who by keeping your distance... normally, that is. Capping does complicate things. If you can force a close up engagement by somehow 'hiding' in a capping position that could be a possibility. -

Oh... I see. I usually try to avoid any ramming except in coop situations. Very rarely do you survive unless you are the bigger ship. Thanks for the info! Yeah.. it does not work that way. IIRC, even a BB very low on HP's would still 'win' in the ramming situation. -

The Daily Bounce preview isn't exactly what I'd call encouraging though.. https://thedailybounce.net/world-of-warships/world-of-warships-supertest-japanese-premium-tier-ix-battleship-iwami/

Won't launching the game in safe mode achieve the same thing? Based on the description of the problem, though, could it be there's something wrong in the connection to the server that handles the daily rewards? Then it should be pretty much universal and not at the player's end. Worked alright for me, though, just tried it.

One problem with keeping many ships is the clutter. You have to use the filters and search funtion rather 'aggressively' to effectively manage that. In the past, I often used to use the tech trees to get faster access to the silver ships.. but then WG changed that so it now works in some retarded way, you have to click the ship about 3 to 5 times before anything happens and instead of Port you end up in Equipment screen....Then there are also the reports that the more ships you have in port, the heavier the load on your system. I'm not sure if the filters have an effect on that or if they are only 'cosmetic' in terms of the UI resource usage. One option is to duck into Armory while not in battle. I haven't quite solved the problem of which silver ships to keep and which not. One rule to go by is to only keep the real ships (except for maybe 9/10 where you will want to keep them all), but this may leave you without some good ships. A better way is to look at their stats and performance, and suitability for missions and your type of favored gameplay. For instance, ships I would keep due to these reasons include the likes of Aoba, Myoko and Fiji.

Frustration is what is coming through T9 and T10, except for those players who can handle the high tier meta that punishes you severely for any errors. I wouldn't say that knowledge of the game mechanics becomes obsolete on the high tiers, but the tactics might change because the damage potential goes up, gun ranges go up, but the maps don't follow suit. For these reasons, and for the harsh economy, I find the mid tiers more optimal for more casually oriented playing. Both the rewards and penalties become more noticeable when you move higher, and it's important to have the right kind of ship there, in the sense that it suits the map and MM and your optimal playstyle preferences. The former you don't know when you click the Battle button, the latter is something you should learn and find out when playing those mid tier battles. EDIT: For the sake of transparency, I've found many high tier ships that are definitely not optimal for me to play. Additionally, because the meta keeps changing (mostly for the worse...), whichever ships are optimal or not keeps shifting as well.

My take on this... First, never sell a premium ship, ever. Even though you can buy them back with credits later on (on WG's terms), it's a losing proposition. Keep any tier 8-11 tech tree ships you have bought, because of the economics (you lose too much if you sell them) and the fact that you may need to get them back if and when WG makes the tech tree split (which would make it even more expensive). Keep a good selection of tier 5-7 tech tree ships, not necessarily all if you are pressed for credits/port slots, but at least enough to give you a sampling of all the nations, classes and playstyles. You will want to have the mid tiers because the gameplay is better, economically friendlier, has more variety and maybe even some fun thrown in. Also, tiers 6-7 can be used for operations (currently no other tiers have operations).

When I typically cannot log in to a WoWS server, it's also typically the only one not working. WoT log in works, all other games work. Just not WoWS. -

Logically speaking, the only rational.. or perhaps irrational explanation has to be that WG thinks that by making the game as deterring to play as possible, the playerbase will somehow become more inclined to pay. Pay, don't play, perhaps this is some metachange that is occurring in how the gaming world views game economics? Or maybe WG is just proving to be hopelessy incompetent. And greedy. Incompetent and greedy's always been a particularly lovely combination. -

Teams can throw any operation these days. I almost wish there would be just one operation, and instead you'd have good and bad teams rotating weekly. -

Yes, it varies a lot. 1 sub, 2 subs, 0 subs. Down to luck or something else, I suppose. They are being 'fine tuned' now and will get a little extra speed if I understood it correctly. If only they went away, they could then go away little quicker.
