    Missouri credit mission expiring today???

Can't believe they didn't come up with such a handy option before.

Can anyone explain the latest LWM/Huron drama?

The way I remember the earlier Yukon debacle, there was a complete break down of communications. As I understood it, LWM was initially given the impression that her input would really be considered throughout the development of the Yukon, but WG corporate 'culture' or something intervened and pretty much binned all the work she had put into it. The only thing I can blame her for is then what the saying says, 'Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me'. Seems like a miscommunication, or more correctly a misconception (on WG's part). Many here share that same misconception which shouldn't happen if you at least anchor your game development to RL counterparts such as the Tribal class and their historical armament.... It's one thing to adjust the gun parameters (and other stats) for game play, it's an entirely different folly to do it inconsistently. If you have ships fitted with the exact same guns, across the board their performance should only vary within a tolerance of say 5 percent, 10 at the most. IMHO. Cool idea... but did they run out of options then? It's not like the Tribal class was the only DD class in service, was it? To me this starts to feel more and more as a case where WG is trying to achieve something on the cheap and maximise their profits at the cost of all other considerations. Yes, a forest has many other things apart from the trees. Including birds that take a crap on you.

    Regarding Dockyards

Apparently, that means 6 x 1750 = 10 500 doubloons in all. The only questions then are 1) Is PR worth this + the time and effort, and 2) The risk here is that you have to either be prepared to finish all the other 34 stages on time, or risk having to pay more. Why are high-tier maps so stupid?

Do we know at which tier the maps change? Is it dependent on the highest tier ships in battle?

Why are high-tier maps so stupid?

It's mostly the other way round, I tend to make of point of staying clear of the rocks if I can help it, but the enemy ships regularly try to make en effort to pass them as close as they can. Some of them can shoot over the rocks, whereas I cannot. My shells would only hit the rock itself. Only by going way wide, will I possibly be able to fire over the more low lying formations, but at that point I'm getting in a position where any number of enemy ships can focus on me. Usually they not only can, but also will.

Why are high-tier maps so stupid?

I agree that the low to mid tier maps are designed much better. However, on the higher tiers, the range does not really help because the rocks are very high, and they are typically placed in such a way that the enemy ships remain covered as both teams move into position. At least that's been my experience on many, if not all the maps, except possibly the Ocean. Oh, and I don't think the gameplay is fun if you have to move 'extra careful'. That is the definition of stale for me.

Why are high-tier maps so stupid?

That sounds a little counterintuitive... the islands are part of the problem, not the solution. Many times the islands are blocking your line of fire leaving with only bad options, like hanging back and waiting waiting.. or compromise your position and take unnecessary risks that may pay off, but typically do not. We would need a clearer separation of the maps into open water zones, and 'archipelago'/island zones. These would need to be strategically placed in such a way that the players on either team could try to use them to gain a tactical, or even a strategic advantage.

    Regarding Dockyards

You can perfectly well ignore the whole dockyard. The only thing I ever go there for, are the odd rewards I may get through regular gameplay.

Can anyone explain the latest LWM/Huron drama?

When someone mentions 'Tribal class DD', and if I had an idea what the Tribal class DD's are, I would also definitely make the assumption that it will be something that shares the key characteristics of the Tribal class. Correct, we don't know if there was any confirmation beyound that fact. Since we don't know that, it pretty much depends on if you consider the 'arc' or the 'floaty shells' a key characteristic for the Tribal class in the game or not, as LWM was not expecting them to release a realistic model. It also depends on how you view the gameplay experience for a ship class, do you think the adjustments should stay within such limits that the gameplay remains fundamentally the same, or is it acceptable to change the ship in ways that will have a marked impact on how you play the ship. Furthermore, do we think that if several ships have the exact same main weapons (based on RL counterparts), do we accept major deviations in their characteristics from ship to ship. People here seem to fall into two 'tribes' on this, roughly speaking. Seems to be so...

OP has like stats inflated above the balance point, but can still be defeated. Broken has a feature or a gimmick that makes it hard or impossible to win against?

Can anyone explain the latest LWM/Huron drama?

Yes, it's like giving a person a box of expensive chocolates... where you've first picked out the ones you like yourself. Very thoughtful of WG, I must say. So what is it, then, incompetence, thoughtlessness, or that once again somebody higher up decides to use this as an opportunity for something else again? It's not like the job would have been all that hard. Develop one more Tribal class DD, give it a nice balance and it's all set to go. Not sure if we can pin this on autism that easily. While there are undoubtedly limitations, if there are developers who are on the spectrum, that is, the thinking patterns of the people on the spectrum seem to have a lot of individual variance (see the link). Do we even know how many devs were working on the Belfast at the time, one person, a team, the more people you have the more likely it should have been that they would have been aware of any balance issues. If I was to guess, however, what can possibly happen is that they were unable to detect certain 'thresholds' in ship interaction, or unable to gauge the linear performance of the ship in battle correctly. Again, if they do not actually play the ships or the game on a regular basis, they would have no clue how to balance the ships, cause I seriously doubt no matter how analytical you are that you can build up a balance model of out 400+ ships detailed stats alone. https://theplaceforchildrenwithautism.com/autism-blog/thinking-and-the-autism-spectrum A valid point. Someone higher up is usually the one who effs up things.
  13. Well... the bonuses should stay, and the awesome camos should still be available for you as well, to... delight yourself and all other players with...
  14. T9 Epoch camo. I haven't got it... not quite sure, maybe I got it on ASIA, though.
  15. Don't those get converted to permanent bonuses and permanent visuals? Haven't actually seen it communicated very clearly, but that's what I think is going to happen.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this how it was with the Yukon? And what happened, still happened because.... WG.

You mean is WG testing a concept on the live servers? Do you think they would really do something like that?

    Realistic Carrier Operations

Yeah... If only we had a real development team at WG, then we could get all sorts of exciting game modes like: Carrier Battles Battle Line Convoy Raiding Skirmish .....

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

I was spotted by @Lothinr. The map was terrible, my luck was terrible, and I still don't know if we won or not, as I am safely back in port.

Can anyone explain the latest LWM/Huron drama?

LWM seems to be taking this very personally, and I don't blame her for that. Don't overlook the aspects that this is a continuation of what happened with Yukon. Let's also be clear that LWM obviously did not expect WG to release a DD that would be realistic or historically accurate, any more than Haida or any other ship in this game is. However, let's put it this way, for the umpteenth time, the ships we get are arcade 'approximations' of the real ships, and we've seen and accepted a degree of variation in how that's been done in the past. With some ships they've done it better, with some not so well. In LWM's view, with the Huron, WG dropped the ball. Some of us here expect more faithful realisations of the the real world ships, like myself, some expect a minimum degree of consistency in how WG 'transfers' the ships into the game and adjusts them for arcade focused gameplay. Some of us don't care much either way, at the most they care about how the ships get balanced for gameplay reasons. The Huron clearly fails some of these 'checks'. I don't like bad gameplay, but I also never liked the fact the same exact guns perform differently. For me the dilemma here is whether to prefer something truer to the in game Tribal class, meaning 'floaty shells', or something with improved ballistics, meaning flatter arcs. If I was to look for an elegant solution here, the one that I would suggest is releasing the Huron with two sets of 'gun' options, one matching the Haida guns, and the other with the 'flatter' ballistic behavior.
