You would have been best served by visiting and interacting in the forums, where if you had you would have read many reviews on the Atlanta. Also this ship is best used by experienced captains and once you have learnt to use ships to the best of their respective abilities you may do well with her then.

Training Battle is unavailable. Although I have training battles enabled I had that warning icon over them (they still worked as intended). Logging on today reveals the warning has disappeared.

Hello Humbug_1, It is a shame you feel the need to complain here after just 16 battles in a BB (albeit the South Carolina). If you had read many previous threads regarding other complainants of torpedoes whether they be dropped from planes or launched from DD's you would have seen the responses as to how you can counter them (as much as possible). I started yesterday with BB's for the first time and yes, with the South Carolina but thankfully had enough XP (I did a few in PvE to top up the XP for the Wyoming) before long to progress to the Wyoming which is as far apart from the South Carolina as you can get. I have to say that you warranted such a negative response as you waded in with a very negative thread OP. Instead of complaining you would have garnered more positive responses if you asked for guidance and opinions. Anyway, I am sure once you get your Wyoming you will be happier but then you will face at times tier 7 CV's so beware of those torpedoes!

Do battleships (low tier) need some loving?
OldGrandad replied to Tr0xx_'s topic in General Discussion
In fact BB's have been buffed a bit since Alpha, remember those awful turning circles? Bit the bullet and started with a South Carolina today, first battle 3 kills but the rest of the team I am afraid were not so productive. But, still the same at those lower tiers, the BB love starts to grow at tier 5 onwards, as for now battles in lower tier BB's are much like blind dates, some good some not so good.......... -

So eloquently put, education shown at its worst...... If you cannot describe something a little more sensitively I suggest you leave the room and shut the door behind you.

Aoba...A Giant, Slow, Flammable, Fragile [edited]?
OldGrandad replied to kbb07142's topic in Archive
There is a great idiom out there, "A bad workman always blames his tools". Like a tool, a ship has to used in a manner that best suits its qualities. You have mentioned many times about using its torpedoes as a manner of attack and that is where you are failing, they are primarily there for defence. Of course in the correct place they can be used as an attack weapon but stick to those wonderful guns as they really can do a great deal of damage, more so than the Cleveland's. Looking at your Aoba statistics you have a 48% win rate with an average XP of 1145 (the stats you quoted for yourself may well have been taken before you last sailed in her) so maybe you are trying a little too hard to use the Aoba like a DD than a cruiser as you have a reasonable torpedo hit rate of 16%. I personally love this ship, I have not sailed in her as many times as you but the XP I earned from her I quickly unlocked the Myoko (average XP per battle for the Aoba was/is 1789) so for me will always be a keeper. Look at the way you are playing the ships, they all have characteristics you need to play up to. Next time when you use a hammer to bang a nail in and miss, do not blame the nail. -
Double CV divisions were stopped due to the fact a pair of well coordinated CV's DO dominate a battle. Other ship type divisions do not have the same effect as they cannot cover the map in the same way a CV's aircraft can. It only takes a little imagination on how pre battle tactics can be discussed by a CV division (strike/fighter set ups etc). I will ask myself a question, "would I fear any other ship type division over a CV division?" The answer is no. As Desi_Roxx's post above, if you have a friend, try doing a CV/AA escort division it is as much fun and the swap around the next battle.

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
OldGrandad replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
Jungoman, I was in that battle on your side and you did well. I was doing my AA coverage for our CV's so even with those tier 9's on the opposite team it was nice to get a draw, well done again. -
Hello MechBuster, I can assure you that no update will change your preference file. I have not changed mine for many updates and the code stays where it should. There has to be another issue causing your problem, any mods installed that may aid in causing this?

No team work on EU server. Language barrier too Big!
OldGrandad replied to Dbars_eu's topic in General Discussion
I opened an account on the NA server last week and I can assure you their player base equals ours in 'gutterspeak'. In total honesty it is home from home, you speak kindly and you will get kind replies. There are always those that choose to do their own thing no matter the country. -
People useing the out of bounds line to speed boost and faster turn rate
OldGrandad replied to Rytlock_Brimstone's topic in General Discussion
It is fine in as much as it has a 'soft zone' all that needs is some sort of automated pilot to turn you back into the map again. many a time I have sailed into the edge of the map seemingly oblivious to the fact whilst viewing the enemy through the scope I am actually drifting sideways down a border. Some are not intentionally sliding down the map border so please take that into consideration. As per my reply to the quote above, some are oblivious to the fact they are 'drifting' down the border so an automated return to battle would be the best option. -
It starts by automating the process that sends out birthday and Christmas cards to the benefactor........... Some chance, but like you it would be nice to hear from devs exactly what they have in mind for the reporting good play (behaviour) option. Going back to the OP, you have to remember it is those that shout the loudest that get heard, I am sure 90% of the players in those battles are not responding in the way you describe and are as nice as you. Unfortunately wherever you go in life a small minority seek to be heard normally spouting repugnant rubbish hoping to provoke a response. Best weapon to use against this minority is silence as that is not what they want, they want that response as that is what feeds them to say more.

Hello Erik, to help determine the cause of your problem could you please attach your dxdiag report to a reply. How to acquire your dxdiag report.

Hello, welcome on board. Yes, you suffered a critical hit, it will randomly happen and no doubt in the battles to come you will have your fair share as well. There was one well documented critical that happened in CBT where a Shimikaze took out a Yamato with one torpedo, yes just one! So, this is working as intended.

Thanks Deamon for posting this. It was enlightening to read the devs response to the question as to how long a battleship model took to create, in this case 6 months. I can recall a forum poster arguing that it did not take them long at all so hopefully that poster can now read the facts. But, the good news is further content, a new nation? This year? a Christmas present for us all? I hope so.

Quite interesting, I only asked as to how many flags you could get as I have a couple of flags sitting at 89 and 99 respectively (thought they may be capped to 100?). Update. Current HE will be replaced by gold napalm shells as the current ones are just placeholders. HE will in future just blow sh*t up with no fires.

As much as I queried the Marblehead/Cincinatti Omaha class, as a Premium they will fill a spot for the NA line ripe for training captains. Yes, they will have the Atlanta back but a tier 5 premium for the USN line would be more forgiving for new captains then the fragile Atlanta. Let's wait and see how they pan out.

Why does Wargaming allow 12 Players at tier 10 destroy fun for the Rest of People ?
OldGrandad replied to TLG_'s topic in General Discussion
What? I think what I said was just a matter of fact and nothing worth commenting on. If you start playing the game after everyone else you are bound to meet higher tiers in battle. For an experiment I created an account on the NA server so was in the same position of many others and before long I was in my T2 against T5, poop happens. I choose to ignore it as no complaining is going to change things any time soon. My comment was NOT about divisions. -

Ok, some are getting on their high horse. I am in no way defending the MM and its deficiencies, I was only targeting facing higher tiers, the MM is another subject. I have no idea what makes the MM do what it does but looking at the image of the teams, you have a significantly higher amount of tier 8's than their team (6-2) so all I can offer as to why is that it has to be a points based MM, but screwed none the less. I wholly agree with the suggestion of tier spread limitation right across the board to no more than 3 tiers. Hope WG listen to that, until then we have to keep on sucking that lemon if we want to grind higher. -

OldGrandad replied to TLG_'s topic in General Discussion
Unless you were in the game at the outset you will always have to face higher tiers much sooner than later, period. Live with the fact you have to face higher tiers on the way up, I am sure you have had many a good game 'seal clubbing' yourself so do not be a hypocrite. The way you are voicing your argument is that you want your cake and to eat it. Yes, many will buy the Atlanta and Atago because they are good enough to use them (some may of course not be....). As for the Murmansk, yes go for it as it is a sure fire way of earning enough cash to reclaim what is lost elsewhere. -

Unfortunately you are as short sighted as your nose. It is the population that is weak at the top that is currently the issue. Oh, and thank you for the neg rep shame you cannot understand a logical argument. -

Hello All, Well, this has escalated just a bit with both for and against debating quite vociferously now. Firstly, some one had to achieve tier 10 status first, that is a hard fact in itself. What is the problem with that? Well I can see that the detractors are bemoaning the fact that we do have a few that are now settled into tier 10, and with that they are having their (to use the phrase the Kriegsmarine used in WWII) 'Happy Days' and as we all know that came to an end. I do understand and empathise with the detractors, as being nothing more than 'cannon fodder' for the newly instated 'unicums' can sometimes be frustrating and demoralising. With the current low population at tier 10 this will though the proverbial 'spanner in the works' and imbalanced matches will appear, this will not change much until the population grows enough at the higher tiers. Writing a new algorithm for the MM just to enclose the very top tiers would prove a failure as they just would not get any battles but what probably could work if there was a temporary cessation of divisions in the top tiers until the population has propagated enough to allow divisions to be reinstated. But, having any sort of restriction would be going against what divisions are all about, teaming up with friends and like minded individuals to play the game as we like throughout all the tiers. Divisions will stay throughout the tier structure, and as much as a few feel embittered now, once they have reached that pedestal that tier 10 is I am sure before long those too will be forming divisions with their like minded friends. The old adage, “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time” is so very true here and there will always be those that feel they are losing out, in the short time they maybe but in the long time it will even out. How anyone got to where they currently are in the tiers is purely their own business, whether they played diligently using either their time, money and skill (or all) matters not as they have done so without breaking any rule along the way. We have to accept this with good grace and for those that are still trying to get there, remember there are those that beat you to it and you have to accept it. -
For those that are interested you can alter a file to give the sea a little more 'dramatic effect'. Any changes though are purely visual and do not affect the way ships handle. Values can be changed in the below file. Games\World_of_Warships\res\settings\Global\GlobalValues.xml Always back up the file before making any changes. Have fun in rough seas!
