Only presuming, as it is a limited time I would put odds on accelerated earnings to ensure players can try all ships out that have had changes for this update.

Start the launcher again and in settings (small spanner icon top right of launcher) untick 'Allow torrents' and try again.

To bad the devs have better skills in destroying games then fix something.
OldGrandad replied to chabo's topic in General Discussion
Quite strong statements you are making. Ok, let's look at this bit by bit, you say quit the game, but you have posted here so you want an audience for your rant, yes? Well, I will agree with you, matchmaking at times leaves you wondering whether it is picked by class 5 of the local primary school so I empathise with you there. Are the devs refusing to work on important stuff? Of course they are, they would rather ape around in the office and visit Gamescon than work on the game. Ok, I lied there. They are working tirelessly on the 'important stuff' and we are witnessing with this latest update what they have been working on as of late. Other games devs? We are not here to discuss them now are we? Matchmaking is totally crap? Now you are repeating yourself and I will only answer once. Some ships are totally crap? Well, I partly agree in that some ships are less desirable than others. Ships auto steer away from islands? I hope so as I do not want to crash into them all of the time when I am not being as aware as I should! (There is a setting you know for that!) It's good it's a free game free - Yes I agree. But it is worth a good few Euros, not dollars! -
Can we please have the warspite again :(
OldGrandad replied to scousersuk's topic in General Discussion
With an update comes a new version number. In the res_mod folder a new folder will have been created and mods need to be redirected to that instead of the old one. But, with 0.4.1 no mods will work, period. -
Why is there a difference in communication for patch 0.4.1
OldGrandad replied to vontrox's topic in General Discussion
I believe this comes down to some artistic translation from the Russian notes, but, I will admit whoever was responsible for writing up the patch notes for the Asian portal deserves the gold star. They make it more interesting to read so whoever is doing this task for us here at the EU take note. PS.WG EU, if you want a volunteer to write up notes ask no further. -
Plus 1 for the best kick in the nuts I have seen for ages....

Both ships needed balancing to ensure the grind was more even going through the tiers. We all know the Minekaze was more than overpowered for her tier so the balances she received (there was a nerf and buff bestowed on the Minekaze) seem reasonable to me. For those that had previously revelled in the OP'ness of this little beast will just have to work a little harder to get the same results! As the poster above has found the detection increase for the Minekaze (albeit from the RU) I feel that I can concur with that, yes the range has increased by 0.3km to 6.2km not 1km as others had thought.
-
Hi guys, just to settle you down regarding the Minikaze, detection range was increased but not by 1km, well not when I was testing her. I am covering myself a bit by not confirming the exact change until PT is open to all (NDA and all).

This, thank you for a little common sense. For those that are concerned 3 minutes is too much time there was a time where the cap countdown was quicker the more you had in the cap but it was deemed too quick so it appears we cannot please all the players all the time!

You are correct about the higher possibility of unintentional friendly fire but we are now looking at players with only having the intention to damage/kill friendlies. I for one will not be nice to a pinkie as it does take a lot of friendly damage to become pink (I know I have tested this in our test environment) but I will be wary of them. One personal instance from last night for example, I decided to have a quick play on the OBT after a few hours testing and thought I would grind my Nicholas. Due to it being my first battle it took longer than normal to load, upon getting into battle I found myself to be half health and still being shot at. My first action was to get going and look around for the enemy but no, it was a 'friendly' cruiser quite happily targeting me. I had only just enough time to ask them to stop before I was sunk. Now, please do not even start to defend pink players whilst they are still serving their punishment for being aggressive towards friendlies, they did deserve punishment.

A message directed to WG about 0.4.1 and Mods... is this really true?
OldGrandad replied to Tsukotaku's topic in General Discussion
Hello OVanBruce, to quote you; "cheaters and hackers" are modders, probably the best way to distinguish those that want to do good and those that want to do bad would be to call them white and black hat modders in the same way you do with coders. It is just easier for us to call black hat modders 'cheaters and hackers' and it clearly defines their intentions. Anyway this discussion has really hit its peak and the 'proof of the pudding' will come with the release of the next update where I am sure this debate will be opened up again. On a personal note I support skins and purely visual enhancements (I do not use them though) and I hope those 'white hat' modders can continue to work on their selective areas of design. -
Oh dear, for some reason plain English is hard to comprehend. The game mode is not flawed, it is the players that create the result not the game. I am not being an apologist, just fed up with those that cannot understand the object is to win if possible by killing all enemies (some are too blind to try anything else!) or capture the enemy base. Ah, you mention stats, who cares? Try and be a little positive, a draw is not a loss..........

How to install from a backup and not download everything again?
OldGrandad replied to Supersubway's topic in General Discussion
You said the others PC location has a slow internet connection, if that is so I would not bother as playability will be terrible if it really is that slow. -
You have a few ships in port yet your profile states you have not yet had any battles? I will assume you are only playing PvE then? Reason for asking is, 'was the game ok previously?' If it was, try renaming your Preferences.xml file to force the game to rebuild a new one and see how it goes from there.

Hello Vulgarny, I want to inform you the Supertesters actually are important, not just here in the EU but across all communities. They put tireless hours in to ensure the game is as free from errors as can be to ensure that you as a player can have a better game to play. I personally have put more hours into testing than I care to mention and I find it mildly offensive that you, someone who obviously is enjoying the game can ridicule those that strive to do their best for the game and not themselves. Please take that into consideration next time you want take umbrage with our Supertesters. I thank you for your cooperation. Ducat

Standard Battle. It's the baseline World of Warships game mode. Your mission is to capture the enemy base or destroy all enemy warships. This is what your team failed to achieve (as well as the enemy team), neither team killed all the enemy or capped the enemy base so the result was a draw. Please feel free to upload the replay as you rightly say I did not see the match, but no matter the reason for the cruiser to 'abandon' his team he by doing so foiled your victory.

Is WG support on vacation or something...
OldGrandad replied to NecroFlex's topic in General Discussion
I was going to empathise with you until I got to the point where you wrote, " i can only play like 3 games a day more or less, depends on the day" I want to think you are joking but the reality of it is that you are serious. Whether you play 3 times a day or 30 is a moot point, you are still playing regularly so how on earth can you imagine you are going to get a sympathetic response from support, polite yes but not sympathetic. You've paid and you have played so there cannot be any 'freeze' of your paid for premium time. I would take this on the chin and take it as a lesson learnt. -
Without seeming harsh this was an epic fail by the OP's team and a moral victory for the sole remaining enemy cruiser. If I was that Phoenix captain I would be celebrating by grabbing a draw from the jaws of defeat which in this battle must have had lockjaw enabling the enemy cruisers survival.

I say you are very wrong there. Up until I had around 300 battles I was at a lowly 42% but I could tell you all you need to know about balance. It is those that choose to use the 'more productive' ships to boost their overall winrate that cannot talk accurately about balance. Again wrong. Apart from slightly above average skill you also need a little good fortune with teams overall to aid your winrate. Divisions alone do not win you games. I do play in divisions now and then but I would put that participation at around 10% of my total battles so I can say they did not alone aid me getting to my slightly above average winrate, good fortune played a bigger part. Another wrong assumption. Players get the draws, the game does not. If players read the battle well enough draws can be avoided but I have to say I have had some fantastic draws where a loss was almost certain and good gameplay got a draw from it, that for me is as good as a win by depriving the enemy of a win. But, you have a partly correct point with the tier 6 DD's, not the worst but they do go some way towards it.

I am glad about that as sailing the New York is as frustrating as can be. Not its general stats but its damn lack of speed, I am always the last one to the fight but by then it is over! I try not to turn as it bleeds 25% of its slowness (cannot possibly call it speed) and will still always be the fat lazy kid slow to get where they need to be..... Back to the OP. We can all make knee jerk decisions and in some cases shout them out for all the world to hear but do we really mean them? More often than not as it is just a cry for attention, someone to listen to you and in this case you have your audience but I am afraid you will get some that want to throw eggs at you and ridicule you (they will never be the kindest people in the world!). I suggest taking a sharp intake of breath and reconsider, as I am sure there are more positives than negatives, and to quit because of one negative (the Colorado in your instance), is really not worth it. Sounds like when I finally get the New York I will grind enough XP to buy myself out of the Colorado!

I would ask a kind friend who has the game to pass you on the correct texture files and overwrite the ones that have corrupted.

Triangle under battle mode, what does it mean?
OldGrandad replied to Ew_'s topic in Newcomers' Section
It is a warning that Training Rooms are not available at that time whether you have them enabled or not, hope that clears it up.
