PROPOSAL: Full German Capital Ships Line (BB/BC)
Trainspite replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in Battleships
I don't think they would try and sneak a BC into a BB line, considering how Germany can quite comfortably construct a BC line. If anything, a premium BC is likely, so Seydlitz gets my bets. -
Last E.t.a for the first RN Branch, (First line of Light Cruisers) is late 2016. So expect them to arrive anywhere between September 2016 to January 2017 as a rough estimate. RN Battleships are a likely line to come in 2017, due to their popularity. HMS Caroline is also very likely to be a premium by the time Jutland 100 comes around. (A month) It's not like you don't have any information to go off or anything.
-
Well, this game will probably have a lot of them, so that "problem" (I don't regard it as one) will probably not disappear anytime soon. WG have to make the differences between similar ships, and since navies didn't exactly go changing their design philosophies all that often, you are often stuck for ships that are really different.
-
Well, both Hood and Defflinger are likely to be tech tree ships... in their respective BC lines, although maybe a premium modified Admiral and Lutzow could turn up.

[POLL]Name of the T10 German BB "Grossdeutschland"
Trainspite replied to Spellfire40's topic in General Discussion
Well, if I poke the rant a little more, it could collapse! Therefore for the sake of the posts under it, namely mine, I will stop. ^^ And if WG have decided to let the PR and marketing overule the Historical department, then I can't say much. Eh, WG could be trying to avoid to his influences, although Großdeutschland doesn't exactly fill that category either.... -
[POLL]Name of the T10 German BB "Grossdeutschland"
Trainspite replied to Spellfire40's topic in General Discussion
Oh sure, sinking the flagship would have a large affect on morale, but Hood wasn't named "Great Britain" "United Kingdom" or even "Albion". The same applies for H-41, and with a certain man having the say over the names, based on his actions, I would think that he would not change his mind over it. Even if the name would have made no difference to the morale, you would have to ask if Mr. Mustache if he recognised that. -
[POLL]Name of the T10 German BB "Grossdeutschland"
Trainspite replied to Spellfire40's topic in General Discussion
Considering how Mr. Moustache had Deutschland renamed to Lutzow as he did not want Germany sunk (Morale blow), it is extremely unlikely that any future ships in wartime would be named Deutschland. Since WG give appropriate names to ships, B-40 is the Japanese tier 4 BC/BB, so in line with Japanese naming themes (Battlecruisers - Mountains), B-40 was named by WG after Mount Myogi. For WG to name a ship built/being built in Germany during wartime Großdeutschland means going against the historical naming theme that they have used thus far. Unless WG have decided that H-41 would be more likely to be built during peacetime. For H-39 and H-41, the best insight is the word of A.Hitler, mentioning two possible namesakes, Götz von Berlichingen and Ulrich von Hutten. -
Not really, the USN can't manage a CA line until tier 6 really, with the prototype Pensacolas. I imagine the most likely way forward for the USN line is a Proto-Pensacola at tier 6, with a new CA line and a CL line starting off at tier 7. Brooklyn -> Cleveland, Northampton -> New Orleans/Wichita. They don't have enough ships from the WW1 period that really flesh out more lines, as this was when the USN was still playing catchup on the RN (They only overtook the RN in size in 1944 after all) The RN on the other hand can manage to fill in 3 lines from tier 2 to 7 with no paper ships, although one could be used to fit in the CA line in terms for gameplay progression. From my tech trees, I think this is most likely: USN: As compared to the RN:

[POLL]Name of the T10 German BB "Grossdeutschland"
Trainspite replied to Spellfire40's topic in General Discussion
Personally I prefer Friedrich der Große as the tier 9, and one of Hutten or Götz von Berlichingen or Ulrich von Hutten for the tier 10, since Großdeutschland isn't exactly historical, (maybe in a fictional reality where war is never declared, and Z plan is completed in peacetime) and doesn't fit with WGs so far trend of historical names for paper ships. -
Nah, Given the size of the Royal Navy, mixing the lines would be quite silly, for progression purposes. The Russian line has Kirov in it, although given the lack of actual ships for the Russians, it is understandable. The RN on the other hand can field 2 lines of CLs that mostly existed, a line of CAs, and a duplicate 7-10 section of paper designs. Trying to mix these in with each other isn't the best idea, mainly because it could confuse players, unless WG will move them later. As for CAs, I can only really say good all rounders, as they vary quite a bit (12x 9.2", 12x 8", 9x 9.2"at tier 10 alone). Compared to CLs, they would have more armour and more health, (and obviously bigger guns) probably at the cost of flexibility. Also, I didn't cover maneuverability and visibility earlier, but I can only really say they would be average to above at them. And as for consumables, that is WGs discretion, although Radar is a decent bet.

Well, the upcoming line seems to be Light Cruisers all the way, so 6" guns to tier 10. Working on that basis that a line of CLs would probably not include any CAs, armour and large alpha damage are not exactly going to be the strong points. RoF would probably be consistently good, getting to excellent/absurd with autoloaders towards the end of the line. Torpedoes. Usually 3-4 per side, and as a whole, probably only second best to the Japanese. The shell arc would probably be mediocre, but the AA would be pretty good. I would be surprised if one of the ammunition choices was noticeably worse than the other. Radar is a decent bet for the high tier cruisers. Overall I would say good all rounders, but this is just for the first line of cruisers, although I think another cruiser line would have the same qualities. I would like WG to look at my speculation, and maybe comment on how accurate I am.... But I'm not sure if they would do that. That would be giving it away!

Pretty obvious it's cruisers, well, the first line of cruisers (Light Variety). - Unless WG have pulled a trick and given me a tier 10 CL to look at....

Q&A Session with MrConway about 0.5.5 content on 23rd of April around 17:00 CEST
Trainspite replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
Yup. Scheme 1 Arrangement 1. Scheme 1 Arrangement 3 Has Triple turrets fore and aft, with a double amidships. etc. The Designs vary a lot from 34-37 knots with 6-12 8" guns. Edit: There are also a lot of them. Many choices. -

Well, the devs have already basically confirmed it at some point. Even in their USN Cruisers video they said it was at tier 6 "at least for now". And as for a replacement, there are plenty, mainly along these lines: -

Oh, speaking of which, writing that made me want to play Cleveland. I was not dissapointed. I think I was too aggressive which got me killed, but it got me that far. -

Trainspite replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
It's the players who play the ship that drag it's performance down, they can't adapt to the playstyle of Cleveland. A Cleveland that hits it's shells at long range (like I do, 12-13km is a peice of cake) is a force to be reckoned with. The arc really does not matter, it doesn't inhibit it's offensive ability to me, you can charge in bow on if you need to get closer, where Cleveland truly dominates. I have charged down North Carolina's before, bow on bouncing the shots, turning and setting a firestorm ablaze from stem to stern between his reload. At close range Cleveland's AP is lethal to other cruisers, and Destroyers should get out asap, unless the Cleveland unable to counter it. Cleveland is a ship that brawls very well, too well. If the arc is what puts you off, then you will not like the rest of the American light cruisers, and quite a lot of British ships, which tended to use a Heavier shell with a lower velocity over a high velocity lower weight shell. -

Trainspite replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
It is not. It is an overpowered bastard of a ship. Especially at close range, and simply does not belong at tier 6. Aoba was buffed to compete with it, which is why Aoba has that crazy RoF that also could also be hit with the nerf bat. Cleveland belongs at tier 8, with her historical stats, (Her 10RPM, her full AA armament etc.) Taking a modern WW2 Light Cruiser and placing it at a tier against the cruisers of the 1920s/30s is not exactly the best idea, since Cleveland outclasses the other ships in basically every way. -

Trainspite replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
I don't think they did, or if they did, then it was probably a long time ago. Either way, Cleveland is the source of the problems, and needs to be moved to tier 8 sooner or later. With Worcester in the game files already, it only takes a modified Worcester (for tier 10, Worcester herself is tier 9 standard), Brooklyn and the new tier 6 (Probably a Prototype Pensacola) to get in the new line. The Russian line was probably a trial bed for seeing how well 6" gun cruisers can account themselves at the higher tiers. Plus it was mentioned that Cleveland would be moved this year, unless that has been postponed. A new DD line would probably be seen next year, being stuck with 3 DD lines by the end of 2017 would probably not be a good thing, as all 3 main classes should probably have at least equal numbers of lines, with CVs being slightly behind that. British and German Battleships should satisfy the needs of those who think of the large famous ships, but Destroyers are necessary, you have the German Destroyers and British Destroyers available or even the French or Italians, each of whom bring something different to the table. Not having a new line of DDs in 2017 doesn't really make sense content wise since seems to be no new lines of DDs in 2016, and I would guess that people would tire of the existing DDs with no new content for 2 years. The same goes for carriers as well. Really overall I see 3 more lines for 2016: German BB British CL American CL? And for 2017 my bets are: British BB British CV? A new DD line A new nation (France or Italy) -

Trainspite replied to Aerroon's topic in General Discussion
German BBs are next, British Cruisers sometime afterwards. The 4th line could be the USN Light Cruisers, although that is more of a half line. Russian and German CVs are not likely at all. British BBs are also likely due to their popularity, while German/British Destroyers are a decent bet. Plus don't discount the Italians or French. -
The RN should really have the most lines in the game, considering how they can manage to produce 3 Cruiser, 2 Destroyer, 2 Carrier and 3 Battleship lines with a main base of ships that existed, while many more can be constructed out of paper ships. Among the masses of premium candidates.

o7 (No, I definitely did not go fish this out of my extensive library of screenshots)

Well for RN Carriers, I suspect they would get 5 plane squadrons (Except for Victorious), just to be in the middle of the current carrier tech trees, and can have two lines, 1 of armoured carriers, including Unicorn, Illustrious, Implacable, while the other line is unarmoured carriers, which are more vulnerable to fire, and can potentially contain different plane loadouts, or different planes entirely. The armoured carriers are tough, and can follow ships from the front line, and shrug off HE hits with ease. My Tech tree looks like this: With the following as premiums:
-
Nah, I wouldn't shoot you, I know you were just referring to the OP. (I do have stacks of strongly worded letters around though, so feel free to take one!) And a random fact for fun, Portsmouth is the city with the highest population density in the UK. (Take that London!)
-
Hood is the lead ship of the Admiral class. Therefore if the Admiral class is in the tech tree, Hood is in the tech tree. The other other cancelled members of the admiral class have fairly minute differences to Hood, and considering that Bismarck is the tech tree ship, and Tirpitz the premium, I'm guessing Hood will be the tech tree ship, with the possibility of an modified Admiral as a premium (I'm going to guess Howe or Anson as the name for that one).
