Simply trying to say that facts are wrong doesn't mean you are right. It means you can't really think of anything to answer my points. You could say KGV is not tier 1 material and be just as believable there. Edit: And add to the list that if you give the ship 16" you get Lion, and if you give her 15" (as originally designed) you take away the ships one disadvantage.
-
It's disproving that you only think KGVs armour is better than NoCar. KGVs AA is definitely tier 8, the hit points are adequate, as is the maneuverability. Along with having the best armour at tier 8, and possibly at tier 9 as well. There is nothing to say that KGV should not be tier 8. People see 14" guns and get scared, much like they see 12" on Alaska, or 11" on Scharnhorst. The reality is it is not that bad, and if you had a ship like KGV, but changed to guns to 16", you basically get Lion, which is our most likely tier 9 candidate. KGV in game is an excellent ship, with mediocre guns. Lion fixes that.

What we know about Ships: Updated 05/04/2017
Trainspite replied to mr3awsome's topic in General Discussion
Belfast is almost a definite. A famous museum ship, and an ideal tier 8 premium candidate. Orion is iffy. She certainly has an impressive record, but WG may decide to include the name Orion for the BB of the same name. Edit: Ninja'd. Feck. -
Armour: KGV is a clear winner there. AA: North Carolina (as in game) - 44 1 20mm (44x 1) - 60 40mm (15x 4) - 20 127mm (10x 2) KGV: I would rate that as pretty similar AA myself. Displacement/HP: North Carolina: 47'400t (What North Carolina weighs in game would be nice - if anyone has a gamesmodels 3D account) KGV: 42'237t PoW: 43'786t DoY: 42'751t Anson: 46'090t Howe: 45'220t Think nearer Anson's value of hit points. It is not a lot lower than North Carolina's, and is roughly 65'300 HP. Maneuverability: KGV is 213m long, compared to North Carolina's 222m. So since North Carolina has a 760m turning circle, we can expect KGV to be similar. Of course there are other factors beside length, but ~760m is a good indication. KGV could also get up to about 28/29 knots, compared to North Carolina's 27.5. Also worth noting that KGV is stealthier than North Carolina, although that in turn means less range.
-
A decent way to describe KGV is take a North Carolina, give it the best armour at tier 8 by some way, and replace it's 9x 16" with 10x 14". Since NoCar & KGV have similar hit points, AA & Maneuverability. The 14" are not especially bad either. Especially if they turn out similar to Warspite's (Accuracy-wise etc.). At tier 7, the other probable 14" armed BB would be Tennessee. And KGV vs Tennessee is not fair at all. The 1930s treaty BBs ideally should stay at tier 8, where they belong.
-
Oh hell no. So much no. Tier 8. Heck if you gave KGV really good guns, you get Lion. Which is tier 9. Her 14" guns are the balancing factor, since even with the proposed 15", KGV can be considered OP.
-
Tier 8 premium BB is most likely.

I can never remember if the Lion Design that is suitable for T10 was from 1944 or 1945....

Well, the RN can field 3 BB lines with mostly real ships, unlike any other nation, which usually at best can manage only 2. It would be a waste not doing so. Especially when they fall so nicely into 3 categories of Fast BB, Slow BB, and BC. Maybe not for the foreseeable future, but it should be expected in the end. Look at WoT for a comparison, 5/6 years on, and multiple branches are everywhere. If there is a possible branch, WG will implement in time, and these RN Branches are very much possible. Of course WG will fill out the other nations first, and make sure they have at least 2 lines before putting a duplicate line in, as seen by the USN light cruisers getting pushed back, probably behind the first French & Italian lines. However, after France & Italy have their first and second lines or so, then we can think about duplicate branches like this. British & German BCs may even jump up the queue due to their uniqueness and fame. South Dakota (1939) herself, as said before, is unlikely to be a premium, due to being the lead ship of the class, and the most ideal choice for a second USN BB line. However, with WG turning basically every museum ship into a premium where possible (North Carolina = lead of class again), Alabama and Massachusetts therefore are reasonable assumptions for a tier 8 USN premium. I don't know about the Russian BBs, I thought at some point that WG said there would be no more Russian/Soviet lines for a while.

The nameplate. Plus sitting too high in the water, though that is not one of the original complaints wibbles I had with Warspite. -
Fine, I can give you my reasoning on why Hood is not likely to be a premium. - Hood in a tech tree represents the ship and her class. The relatively minor differences between Hood and her 3 cancelled classmates is not enough to differentiate them in a way you can do with Dunkerque & Strasbourg, or Nurnberg & Leipzig. Otherwise a lot of other classes with fairly insignificant differences already in game could be split (Myoko, New Orleans, Iowa Hence, Hood in a tech tree gets as built, early war, and post-refit hulls. - Since WG use the names of ships or try to in game (See designs like B-40 getting names, in this case Myogi), Admiral can't be used, since Admiral is not a ship. - If there is an unusable class name like Admiral, Town, J/K/N, Raubvogel etc. , then the lead ship of the class usually takes up the role of the tech tree ship. For instance, Afridi or Cossack taking the tech tree spot for the tribals. Hood obviously is the lead ship of the Admirals, especially as some early documents referred to the class as the 'Hood' class. - And finally WG would piss off quite a few of those who do not want to dish out £30 for arguably Britain's most famous BB. I know I would definitely not pay for it. And it would just be a little cheap. They did not make Bismarck a premium after all. - Not really different enough from Bismarck & Tirpitz, if the need arises we can still have Anson or Howe as a premium. It doesn't make it any different that Hood is still the lead of the class, it just means her sisters were not built. - Yes, but it carries the name Benson. Lo Yang is the Benson herself, and while Benson represents the class, it also represents Benson herself. And there are a few examples of ships not necessarily representing their other classmates, case in point, Admiral Hipper. - No, Hood is the lead of the Admiral class. So it is still Hood. If you are worried about fictional upgrades not being the actual ship, that is something you will have to get used to, since a lot of ship in game have to have them. Heck, look at Gneisenau. Without the 11", is it truly Gneisenau? In my eyes, it is, although your milage may vary. I am just not too fussed about Hood having her mansion added. To be honest, I am going to be more pleased that Hood is represented in all her forms, not just one. Gives more depth to the ship than just a quick money making scheme by WG. The only reason that Hood is an ideal premium is because she would sell by the bucket load, though it would be cheap in terms of WG, seeing that Bismarck is a regular, and seeing how they have stuck to their lead ship rule. Actually, if you want a complete RN BB tree, with 3 lines of Slow BBs, Fast BBs, and BCs/Fast BBs, you would have to use at least 9 paper BBs out of 24 (All the tier 9s & 10s, 2 tier 8s and a tier 7 - Also includes putting HMS Canada in at tier 5 instead of being a premium) In one of the latest Q&As, Hood & SoDak are not being modeled at the moment. Suggesting that a Second USN BB line, and Massachusetts/Alabama premium has been shelved to come back to later, as goes for Hood. Personally I think that may be WG holding her back for a BC line, since a premium Hood could/should have been released some time ago due to the ships popularity. Plus, during some time 2017, the first duplicate branches could be planned for release after then in the next year or so, and British BCs are fairly popular (Queen Mary, Repair & Refit, Lion, Hood, G3, Invincible). Since a British BB line should be in the planning/ early modelling stages, and Hood hasn't been started, it probably means that Nelson has beaten her to the first tier 7 spot. Hence a Rodney or Prince of Wales premium to accompany the first British BB line release is far more likely, as well as Warspite.

One of the 3 major wibbles I had with Warspite before. -
Vanguard is a tier 9 ship, but the guns, even with supercharges, are not up to tier 9 standard, so a tier 8 premium is ideal. Lion (1939 or 1942), for all intensive purposes in game is the same as Vanguard, but with guns much better suited to tier 9. Therefore Vanguard fits better as a tier 8 premium, since KGV & Lion displace Vanguard from the normal Fast BB Tech tree. The Tier 9s & 10s could be these, there are not a whole lot of problems filling out trees to be honest. Slow BB Line Fast BB Line BC/Fast BB line IX: N3 Temeraire (Lion 1939) G3 X: L3 Thunderer (Lion 1944/5) K3 or I3 or H3

Well, the arcs are likely to be somewhere just above Des Moines. Historically they were about the same, but the velocity was lowered historically to that level, and with British Light cruisers, the historical data will have to be ignored or buffed since, for example, the Mk.XXIII gun used on Leander through to Belfast has data quoted at travelling 4.5km in 6.6 seconds. For comparison, Cleveland in game does that in 2.2 seconds. So buffs would be required. Same applies to other guns like the 7.5" used on Hawkins. Hood is the lead of the admiral class, so gets a tech tree spot as a Tier 7 Fast BB/BC. After Renown, and before J3. Hood would sell really well, but then again, so would Bismarck, and they resisted that urge, so I think they will resist the same with Hood. An ideal situation is Hood '1920', which includes the refit in 1941, then a Hood '1941' premium, in as sunk condition, if WG decide to ever go that far with the same ship being represented twice. It is already around with Svetlana & Krazny Krym, as well as Benson & Lo Yang. WG have said in Q&As recently that Hood is not being modeled, so that leads me to believe that WG have reserved her for a BC line, since a Hood premium would have sold far more than Warspite, and would be ideal around now, before a British BB tree.

The tier 10 shown was this one: (Minotaur Design Z4A) Not that WG said it was tier 10, but with it's specifications... - 5x2 6" Mk. V - 15-20RPM, Fast turret turn time to boot. - 4x4 21" Torpedo tubes. Likely housing 10km torpedoes. - 4x2 3" DP secondaries/AA - 90RPM - 31.5 knots - 16k Displacement standard, so on full load Maybe 19k tons. Meaning about 45k HP in game. - No armour really worth talking about.
-
With only 3 classes of CAs built, I highly doubt it would be a mix, especially since the tier 10 we have seen is a CL...

I had to go digging through my screenshots to find evidence. I can't really be bothered to drag up a replay of what I did, since apart from the downright silly, (Kawachi solo-warrior on a laptop at 5FPS) I don't remember too much. However, after looking at the result screens, I do remember the general gist of the battle. I stormed up the West of North Northern Lights, systematically removed the cruiser in front of me (Aoba I think), before circling around taunting the assorted BBs, while burning them. Then, when they started retreating, I aggressively followed, punching the Yorck in the face, before getting too aggresive, and instead of turning away from second Nagato when I had the chance, I stubbornly followed him while on 5K Hp.

I don't know, was I meant to be counting? I don't have New Orleans yet, but from my experience of Pensacola, it reliably lands citadels, much more so than Myoko. And in my cruiser vs cruiser engagements, Pensacola comes out on top against Myoko and Yorck (and other Pensacolas). I haven't seen enough Shchors or Indys to really say I would win, but from what I can see, Pensa would probably win against a Shchors, unless the Shchors Projekt 28 could keep Pensacola out of range above 14-15km. I have had times with 3-4 citadel hits though, mostly on unsuspecting cruisers.

What about Neptune (Design Y) with 4 Triple turrets then...
-
Obviously that part is difficult (Thankfully only a few battles have them), I was just looking at the lack of animations for quite a few battles, and seeing if gaps could be filled.

Boo! I was waiting for those to make Warspite truly be Warspite. Never looked right without them. So I definitely gave permission. (I am the First Sea Lord now!) -
Chamorro usually announces the ideas, although there is nothing stopping suggestions. A 1920s war would definitely be interesting enough, though I claim the G3 or N3 when they come out . Personally, alongside fictional ideas, I wouldn't mind creating videos on the battles that actually took place (e.g. - Sunda Strait, Houston struck by torpedoes etc.), which could be represented in game.
-
Don't forget about Z2 (4 turrets),Z5 (3 turrets) and Tiger (2 turrets) either... And all of those WW1 era cruisers...
-
Well, I had not seen that thread. Plus, I did have the vain hope that it would be the end of it. However, trying to stop stuff like this is a little pointless, since every-time some new info comes out from a Q&A, discussion is inevitable, when people express their views on it. Especially on ships. This thread effectively invites tangents on people discussing what is in the Q&A.... Ideally we could have one clean thread and one for discussion, both with the Q&As in them, though what might be easier is a new dedicated Q&A thread, instead of trying to clear discussion from this one.

Lack of good features? Pensacola would probably be the most well rounded tier 7 cruiser, without her detection range. Myoko is better because Myoko is overpowered. And in all honesty needs a nerf (Better RoF than Atago, Mogami and Ibuki? You are no tier 8 anymore...). Yorck is only better in terms of being flexible, since Yorck doesn't have a distinct disadvantage compared to Pensacola. Shchors is a long range damage dealer. Other than that, and it turns like a cruise ship, I don't know much about Projekt 28. Just give Pensacola her C hull with an extra quad Bofors, 3 more 20mm, Cut down mast (and therefore lower detection range), and a possible range increase and she will be fine. And nerf Myoko while you are at it.
