A second line could include Swiftsure or 3 turret colony. Ceylon is the more likely candidate out of the CCs I think.

What comes after RN cruiser line?
Trainspite replied to SomeoneYouKnow2's topic in General Discussion
I would use VMF for the Russians to avoid future confusion. -
Chatham dock event , whos going ?,
Trainspite replied to lethalbizzell's topic in General Discussion
I could... I am just wondering if I should part with my money to get in though. I am a very stingy/cheap person, as could be seen by me trying to decide if I should buy Airzona, Indianapolis, Dunkerque or Molotov, though in theory I want all of them. Only bought the Dunk in the end. Fairly Spacious. Not sure if this event would fill it up, but in my experience I have had no problems before. -

On the Balance: How do the German BBs compare?
Trainspite replied to von_Boeg's topic in Battleships
Quit joking. I mean, if you want to be a comedian go ahead, but I don't find the above funny at all. Scharnhorst was OP. It was nerfed before release. It had average accuracy before then, and that combined with the 20sec reload made her hilariously overpowered. Even now with wayward accuracy, it is a solid performer. Scharnhorst as is nowhere near weak for tier 7. Gun calibre does not matter. You will have cruisers with the same calibre guns (Panzerschiffes), but it doesn't make Scharnhorst bad for tier 7, and in fact, those guns are what give Scharnhorst an edge, in terms of doing what Scharnhorst does, which is bullying cruisers. You need to wake up if you think Scharnhorst is anywhere near underpowered. Because it isn't, after all, there is a reason she was nerfed before release, and yet still summons up excellent results on a regular basis. No, not all BBs over tier 5 need Sonar. That would render Japanese DDs even more useless than they are now, even if they get re-worked. BBs do not need any more buffs, since WG have said there are 35% in battles, which nearing the limit at which they would consider nerfing BBs to reduce popularity. DDs have it hard enough hitting torpedoes anyway, except for a certain few which feed on low tier new players. (Looks at Minekaze and Isokaze). The only reason the high tier German BBs get sonar is to compensate for their awful turning, meaning they can see the torpedoes from further away and take the necessary action to avoid them, while achieving the same in terms of dodging as the more maneuverable BBs. Also if German BBs are OP or not: Nassau is undeniably the best T3 BB around. Compared to the other two, Nassau is OP. Kaiser, Konig & Bayern are also bordering on that as well. They can reliably do and take damage, and are quite well rounded. Gneisenau seems balanced, but a bit too reliant on the shell dispersion with only 6 guns. Bismarck is very well regarded. H39/H41 is slightly under par. Though not by too much, but enough to make her very awkward. Fictional Triple H41 is probably going to try and take the crown from Yamato at some point, it is a very strong ship. -
Leander is better than Konigsberg. The only reason you would consider her at tier 5 is due to WGs borked cruiser balance at the moment, with a pretty terrible power creep. Fiji is far better than Nurnberg. Scylla should be T5, Dido T6. Cleveland is a (will be soonTM) T8, hence Eddy and Belfast should be at T8, as built. Heavy cruisers will get their own line later.

Pensacola's INSANE detectability range by sea: anomaly or historical feature?
Trainspite replied to WinningSpike010's topic in Cruisers
Maybe WG were taking the other rangefinder into account or something. Or simply decided that range can be messed about with, while detection range should not. -

REQUEST for Premium Ships (wishlist)
Trainspite replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
Tier 7 is more likely I think. Maybe with all the historical stats etc. , Tier 6 could work, like how York could be at tier 6 with Aoba style buffs, but a historical Exeter at tier 5 would work. -
On the Balance: How do the German BBs compare?
Trainspite replied to von_Boeg's topic in Battleships
That is called balance. A mythical thing not seen much, but yet exists. Scharnhorst was OP with even average accuracy and a 20s reload. So with good accuracy and a 17s reload. Too weak for T8, ridiculously OP for tier 7. Interesting to note that the navweaps quoted value is 3.0 to 3.5RPM which is 20s to 15s. The 38cm gun has 2.3 to 3 quoted, so that 25s reload fits right in that 26s to 20s range. I would put your anti-German bias wibble to bed on that. -
Pensacola's INSANE detectability range by sea: anomaly or historical feature?
Trainspite replied to WinningSpike010's topic in Cruisers
Read this. -
Thats a battlecruiser. You can't have that at tier 10! Plus Des Moines would be ridiculously OP at tier 9, and Balti at tier 8 creates more problems than solves. She just needs a few fairly simple buffs at tier 9 really. Brooklyn is the contemporary to Mogami, and could be tier 8, but Cleveland, Fargo and Helena already have that covered, so I think Brooklyn will end up at tier 7, with a nerfed RoF to compensate for having 15x 6" at that tier. Nerfed from 8 to 6 or 6.5 or so.

REQUEST for Premium Ships (wishlist)
Trainspite replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in General Discussion
Having to choose only one... HMS Manxman. Because speeeeeeeeed. So HMS Manxman. Tier 4 Light Cruiser, Abdiel class Minelayers. The 3rd of 4 original Abdiel class minelayers. Being minelayers, they are very very fast. Manxman was the only one of the original 4 Abdiels to survive WW2, and she was quite well known for her high speed cargo runs to Malta. Severely damaged by a torpedo to the engine room by U-375, she was out of action until April 1945. After use during films, the suez crisis and a minesweeper support ship, she was broken up in 1973. Essentially a huge destroyer with no torpedoes. Very fragile, but well armed and exceptionally fast, with a good AA armament. Ideal for hunting Destroyers and carriers. Speed: 39.75 knots HP: 16'400 Armament: 3x Dual 4" DP guns, as found on Black Swan. 20 RPM, Fire chance 6%, 11.6km range approx Armour: None. Pros/Cons: - Fastest thing about at tier 4. By some margin. Find a BB? You can keep him out of range, or at maximum range if you feel like peppering him with HE. - 6 Rapid firing guns that can set fires relatively often with the RoF - Very heavy AA armament. (6x 102mm, 16x 40mm 2pdr, and up to 12x 20mm) - Very maneuverable for a cruiser - No armour - Low calibre guns making AP all but worthless. - Low HP pool - No Torpedoes Special abilities & consumables: - Speed Boost, for more sppeeeeeeeeeeeeddd. - Maybe a limited or 1 use health repair, to help with the very poor survivability of the ship. -
will we ever get a american premium Tier 8-7 battleship ?
Trainspite replied to aricelfaratepi's topic in Battleships
Lexington as a BC is more suited to be in a USN BC line to be honest. SoDak1920 would work in a slow BB line or so. -
Your top 3 ships and worst 3

I think that St Louis still beats Bogatyr any day. Bogatyr just felt too uncomfortable and inflexible for my liking. I kind of liked Svietlana more, though in a different way. I felt I could have more impact as long as I could keep myself afloat. -
will we ever get a american premium Tier 8-7 battleship ?
Trainspite replied to aricelfaratepi's topic in Battleships
Yes, but it would be a decent change. Colorado is one of the Big 7, and generally, the Big 7 go at tier 7. (Nelson, Nagato, Colorado). Colorado is a substantial improvement in game terms over New Mexico. Those 16" guns slice through BBs with ease. I did just have a 155k damage game with her, so she is fine at tier 7 really. Gneisenau is not a direct improvement over Scharnhorst, but West Virginia is over Colorado, and Colorado doesn't need any more buffing. Unless WG differentiate consumables, it would just be a premium Nagato B hull. -

Trainspite replied to aricelfaratepi's topic in Battleships
Her fire control systems were significantly better, hence her performance at Suriago Strait being far better than say, Marylands IIRC. This could warrant better accuracy, say Warspite like, and tier 8 status. Also, she could receive a bit more HP than regular Colorado. At tier 7, for her AA & secondaries, she would have to pay in some other way, without being quite overpowered, compared to Colorado & Nagato. At tier 8, speed and HP would be two massive downsides to her, but her firepower is adequate, and her AA is more fitting. -

Trainspite replied to aricelfaratepi's topic in Battleships
Probable Tier 7 & 8 USN BBs (in my opinion) Tier 7: Alaska (Likely) California (Maybe) Maryland (Maybe) Tier 8: Washington (Maybe) Alabama (Likely) Massachusetts (Likely) West Virginia (Likely)* *= WeeVee could also be a tier 7, but would need a little nerfing in some areas. -
Dido to me is a tier 6 regular in another British cruiser line. 10x 5.25" @ 10RPM seems fairly reasonable for her. One of the Bellonas can be a premium at tier 5, and Scylla/Charybdis would fit there too. Maybe one of Dido's sisters could be a premium if people really want a 5 turreted Dido and can't wait, I like Euryalus myself, but that is just me.

Kuma & Myoko are arguably overpowered at the moment to be honest. Furutaka seems to be edging towards that area as well, at least in my experience.
-
Apart from Belfast, there seems to be another upcoming RN Premium: HMAS Perth
Trainspite replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
I'm thinking Haruna as a tier 6 premium. In a Q&A, sister ships were mentioned. Yamashiro is also a possibility. Ashigara would be easy, but could fall into the realm of Eugen. Plus Myoko needs to be nerfed first anyway. Tone is currently laid up awaiting proper mechanics for seaplane crusiers. That would also rule out Oyodo as well. Maya would be nice as a tier 7 to be honest, though with Atago, she would have to be a) cheap or b) very unique As for Destroyers, Shigure at tier 7, now that Shiratsuyu is around. -
Proposal on how to handle BC/BB and CC/CA in Tech Tree for Germany nad Royal Navy
Trainspite replied to backoija's topic in Other
I would actually call the tier 9 (1939+1942 designs) Temeraire, as the name Lion gets taken by the Battlecruiser of that name. Thunderer could work though. Revenge should be fine. She has less AA, less speed, and less HP but is more compact and smaller, and hence a bit more survivable. The Rs also should get access to the supercharges for the 15"/42 which gives them a better shell velocity, that can make them quite a bit more powerful. Revenge should be a decent alternative to Queen Elizabeth for those who can handle her.- 19 replies
-
I would say a little better than Cleveland, while not as heavy, there velocity increase is significant, meaning that the 6"/50 Mk.23 should be a more comfortable weapon. Another gun to compare could be the IJN 140mm used on Kuma and alikes 38kg shell at 850m/s.

Trainspite replied to backoija's topic in Other
To be honest, I think that Lion 1938 should be a semi-stock option for a tier 9 Lion that fully upgraded is a 1942 design in 1945 condition. That is the fame element that overtakes Bismarck & Tirpitz really.- 19 replies

A Detailed look at Project 1047 Battlecruiser (Lert)
Trainspite replied to Trainspite's topic in Battleships
Thanks! I haven't read the book, but I shall look into it, see if my finances are such that getting the book is feasible. Don't worry, I am pretty sure at some point she will appear in-game. The Dutch have a fair few ships to contribute, and this one is fairly well known by quite a lot of those who read the forums/play the game. It just may be some time before WG get around to it.- 67 replies
