The new carriers Kikaku and Concord Bridge do not register as valid ships for Personal Challenges (despite Concealed Maneuvers being listed as a valid game mode.)

Battle not ending straight away.
Seedling replied to EireannGamingNetwork's topic in General Discussion
Never played a carrier, eh? -
Dodging flak is only fun if there is few of it... get in range of two flakboats with 10+ flakbursts each and even an FDR is deplaned within seconds no matter how you dip and weave... And that's not even including the fact that you can't even see your target due to flak blinding the player's POV so your torps don't arm in time and bounce harmlessly off the ship...

How to FIX subs in current state to please the most players. PLUS increase profits
Seedling replied to FuffyFox's topic in Current Update
Don't add something as stupid as 'PLUS INCREASE PROFITS' to your title.. it's not going to make your post seem any more enticing for either players of WG CEOs... Also, you are writing a thesis on completely reworking the game.. don't bother... just keep in concise... Something like: 1. homing torps and pings should only be usable sub-vs-sub. 2. torp arming distance should be on par with carrier dropped torpedos, not 0.1 sec after launch 3. torps hitting a part of a ship already hit by another deal significantly reduced damage / lead torp aoe damage will knock out following torps if there are within [max damage/1000 meters] 4. subs do not recharge dive capacity for 30s after surfacing 5. surface torpedos hitting a sub will detonate the sub if damage is at least 50% of the sub, and cause flooding 100% of the time. 6. flooding will disable parts of the sub (torpedos, sonar, rudder, buoyancy tanks, etc) until DCP is used on the surface. fire damage will permanently reduce max dive capacity and dive capacity restoration- 18 replies

Belgium players can't even get a free chest for their free tokens... (unless they add them during 12.6) Summer Festival? More like Summer Funeral... Guess it's time for a Summer Break!
-
One of the World Oceans Month missions awards an additional 4 (as in FOUR) Colorful Tokens, which means that if you get at least 60 tokens from the 4 'free' chests, you should only have to buy the 50 tokens once for 189 tokens for the 'budget' shiny.

Problem is that cv players have 0'd karma, so it does even less. Better to reserve them for those non-cvs that pretend to be cvs by hiding all match because getting shot at it so scary. Also, it works, because they get to farm all the weakened enemy ships that come for them...
-
HE bombs can splash ships and subs, but the radius is so low you need to explode them pixels away or it doesn't count... oh, and direct hits don't work very well either due to the borked damage mitigation that gives subs more damage resistance than a US battleship... (I hit a sub with two Fletcher torps for 38k damage, and the 25k sub lived through that.. )

We're still waiting for a major overhaul of certain plane mechanics, so I suspect that would also be a good time to bring the old cvs back. (The question being, do we have to pay for early access carriers if they took them from us years ago only to re-add them?) I wouldn't mind carriers that have the ability to drop depth charges, mines or sonar buoys.
-
That's not a bug but a feature. Subs can detect planes at any depth, and planes can detect they are being detected. Been that way since the start of subs, I believe. I think WG left this in so the other team at least have a general idea where the last remaining sub is, as they can literally win by sitting on the sea floor, having a cup of tea and biscuits, otherwise.

And don't forget, those homing torpedos consume all the server's computing resources... I told my cv autopilot to go straight at full power, and instead it flushed the toilets for 3 hours while displaying the map of Detroit on the minimap, before blue screening when it realised the galley ran out of decaf...

Too many critical errors durring battles today.
Seedling replied to Anthoniusii's topic in Current Update
Have you tried turning your pc off and on? But seriously, you need to provide more info then just 'game don't work. please fix'. For example, how would WG fix the dead fan on your graphics card's VRAM which causes it to corrupt gpu memory when it overheats at 110°C ? Or the corrupted driver that needs a complete reinstall of the software package it came with? Or maybe your HDD has bad sectors after that power outage last week during your ranked match... These are not easy things to troubleshoot for the average gamer, but it's even harder for some support guy with no (reason to) access to your pc just going by your words... -
There's some shenanigans with AA. * Dead ships keep using AA and flak against cv planes. * AA alert marker keeps active even when no ships are firing AA at cv planes. (Possibly due to obscuring by mountains or smoke, remains even when flying out of range.)

No, it's a myth that VPNs allow you to dodge regional restrictions. Netflix knows you are sitting at home pretending to be in Japan or USA, but they can't get in trouble for ignoring it. They aren't required to disclose your account origin to the provider of the actual content you watch. With gambling laws though... entirely different can of worms. Worms with legal degrees and the long arm of the law behind them. You can use a VPN to see the armory as the rest of the world sees it, but as soon as you log in to buy something, you are kicked back into the restricted zone.

There are 4 phases. First phase is to get the ball rolling by increasing the droprate. Make people believe they have a chance, but once a set number of ships have dropped, the party ends... Next phase is the dry phase, where most people spend the first bit of money thinking they can get lucky, but the droprate is significantly reduced. Third phase is where the sunk cost falacy kicks in, and people decide to just go full monty and get it as the final reward. Final phase is where the drop rate is adjusted to match the advertised droprate to avoid legal challenges. FOMO still applies, and this is where you start seeing the notifications that the event is about to end in a week (or two) and you will miss out on the Colossus and all the other rewards! (Just like the battle passes.) I don't mind WG making money, they have content to deliver, people to pay and servers to maintain, after all... but this is textbook casino tactics, not game dev mentality.

Colossus and Royal Navy Premium Containers
Seedling replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
When will the Colossus become available through normal means? Because Belgium players cannot even get the free exp containers, nor is there a replacement mission to earn two free containers... Also, it would be nice if WG could fix the armory.. Any links to the illegal (in Belgium) container casino on the armory will just go to the default page without any indication the event page is not accessible due to regional restrictions. -
Nah, not allowing shady gambling mechanics in games not designated as gambling is fine. It's WG's half-assed way of dealing with it. They do this with every seasonal event. The summer event had a free container you could get with summer tokens earned from missions, but Belgium players were only allowed to convert it into credits. You could still buy summer tokens if you wanted a worse conversion rate then even the credit bundles in the shop though! You get the news articles and buttons to join, but after accepting you fall into an information black hole. No message, nothing. I even think they added the 'Not available in Belgium' notification after the article had already been posted, as I didn't notice it before. Seriously, just give us a different news article and a mission chain for some seasonal camos, not this shady backstabbing nonsense.

I got a literal gamebreaking bug. It also happened to me last patch, so I guess it wasn't fixed yet. When your ship is destroyed and you spectate a sub, if that sub is destroyed while submerged, you are stuck on that sub's wreck. You cannot switch to another ship, another camera angle, or even turn or zoom your camera. It doesn't go away in the port either. If you select another ship, it tries to load but never succeeds. If you try to go to the armory, your entire UI locks up. At this point you cannot even quit the game anymore. Alt-F4 will not work to quit the game, although it does work to exit the armory. Do not press the Battle button though.. your game will lock up on the loading screen. Only way out is kill the World of Warships task in the taskmanager.

Tens of thousands of posts that are almost all emotional anecdotal drivel with no meaningfull discussion. Quantity does not mean quality. There have been a few legitimate issues, like HE rocket planes decimating dds.. having their aiming circle moved further out and the firing delay is now so long that the rockets are fired backwards when they pull out of the dive. This particular forum is so full of whining that actual issues are drowned out... * WG never fixed the aiming circle farcasting when flying over the tiniest of islands... (though a skilled player can actually use that to fire outside AA range of most cruisers, so it balances out) * WG never fixed the autopilot.. LobotomizedBrick OS 0.1-alpha gets confused by sailing in a straight line... but adding ship controls while flying planes is apparently 'too complicated'...

"There are no medals for critiquing play, only for winning"
Seedling replied to Yosha_AtaIante's topic in General Discussion
Good advice and playing cvs will get you karma bombed. Fact of WOWS life. -
Well, that's because the game doesn't have any means of switching ammo types, obviously. They would have to rework the entire game from the base up!
-
That cycle is usually instigated by the next new kid ignoring ten thousands of posts of <shiptype> 'feedback' wielding another whataboutism or arguing how <shiptype> are vital for teamplay because they feel invalidated somehow, completely forgetting that matches without <shiptype> are perfectly fine if not better and usually more fun.

A dd can take a cap from 0 to 100 in the time it takes for a cv to get another wave of planes on you. And you are in smoke the whole time. Shooting and firing with pinpoint accuracy even though you are effectively blind... heck, a destroyer in smoke doesn't even give away it's position with AA, despite using tracers... Also, those daft rocket things are surprisingly historical. There's actually more footage of rocket attacks then of most ships. And no matter how good your dodging is, the enemy DD still gets to launch all his torps at you.
-
Cutting out all relevant information makes this nothing more then a list of numbers that can mean anything... but lets assume it does whatever you claim it to be. So we established that cvs have an edge when it comes to spotting and spotting damage. Now run the numbers for capping medals and capping score. Are CVs the best in those categories? Or what about main and secondary hits?
-
So because CVs upset the static boring gameplay meta and force players to think about how to play the game in new ways... makes for static boring gameplay? You also need to think about the indirect spotting effects, even if DD aren't directly spotting targets, the fact that they can means that players avoid situations where they could be spotted, and ensure that they have escape routes if DD do spot them, all of which boils down to static boring gameplay. Sounds familiar? Other ship classes can fire into a fleet of ships, pick which target they like, and remain unspotted the whole way. Their shells do not get shot out of the sky, their torpedos sail until they hit something or run out of time. Planes however get shot down, and the tighter the blob, the less planes survive... and each plane is on a 1-2 minute cooldown. Lose too many planes early on, and cv is nigh useless, OTHER then spotting.
