Planes auto spot any ship that is within the air detection range of a ship, unless the ship is in smoke or not in direct line of sight, or it's a type of plane that does not conform to spotting mechanics such as ASW planes and Dutch Drop bombers. Case close. It's up to you if you chose to believe otherwise against established mechanics and facts stated by the creators of the game itself.

@The_Angry_Admiral If ships are spotted. They are IN spotting range. If ships are not spotted, they are OUT of spotting range.... So yes, planes auto spot if within the air detection range and line of sight of a ship. ANY ship at that. Unless that ship is in smoke. Or a sub at max depth. Or a type of plane that does not have the spotting mechanic such as ASW planes and Dutch Air Strike planes. It's not rocket science. I suggest you go back and read up on the basic mechanics. It's should be DD's front. Super cruisers and BB's following with light cruisers picking targets from behind them from the flanks and Heavy cruisers doing a mix of pushing and kiting situation depending. But you seem to think JB should be played as a long range sniper so you have balls to dare tell other people how to play their ships and class.

This CV is stupid once you grasp how the planes work.
