  1. Captains! In officer training, there is a list of books the midshipmen are strongly recommend to read. Since I guess most of us here has an interest in naval history, we should easily be able to create a similar list of books you would recommend your fellow captains to read. It can be a facts or narrative, but should cover the approximate years for the in-game ships. Give title, author and short description of a few books you would recommend to anyone with an interest in naval history! Leading by example, I'll give my my pick: Castles of Steel by Robert K Massie :A thorough account of the war at sea during ww1 Cruisers of World War Two by M. J. Whitley: What the title says. Design, modifications and operational history of more or less every cruiser during WW2. Battle at Sea by John Keegan. Warfare at sea from the crew's point if view at Jutland, Midway and Battle of the Atlantic (also Trafalgar, but that doesn't count here

How WG completely ruined the Tirpitz in two simple ways

How fast German and royal navy ships acquired range also has a lot to do with doctrine. German practise, at least during ww1, was to fire three salves without waiting to observe fall of shot at estimated, shorter and longer range. After that adjustment were made according to which salvo came closest. British precise was to fire, observe, adjust and repeat until range was found. Obviously, the German method was much quicker. For a more thorough account, see for example Castles of Steel by Robert K Massie. Point is, training, practice and how you fight is at least as important as equipment.
