    HMS Edinburgh had 4.88" belt armour. New Orleans had 5". Maybe I am wrong, but i am pretty sure 5" > 4.88". Not much but still better. Mino is tier 10 with less guns than the kutuzov and do less damage than the kutuzov. Ok it gets better camo, ROF and smoke but we are not comparing tier for tier. We may aswell be comparing the Amagi to the Yamato. And if the gun arcs are like the USN then i would much rather have the kutuzov. So if yea you can get to within 9km of a DD, pop radar and spot the DD, and have atlantas gun arcs, well Also you are giving up smoke for this. This was my main point. The HMS Edinburgh will likely have around 8rpm, camo around 12.5-13km So I am going to grind all the way to tier 8 just to get a kutuzov with slightly better rpm & camo, and maybe better smoke (Would like USN to have their own smoke though and the current UK DD with USN smoke is actually an american DD). I am not giving up complete hope, but we will see. I already have a new orleans, kutuzov and mogami. All 3 can do the job very similar or better than what the UK cruisers look like they are going to do. What I was hoping for was something unique, fun and competitive...guess that was too much to ask for.

    Oh god they are going to make the UK ships crap arnt they. I was really excited for them and now I am just worried. If we take tier 8 as the benchmark Using radar and sonar why not just play the New Orleans which has better guns, armour and AA. If using sonar and smoke why not just play the Kutuzov which has better AA, and if the UK gets shitty shell arcs then the kutuzov will have better guns too. What i was suggesting was an OP ship yes. However we have to remember is that right now the tier 8 cruisers are crap. Having this ship able to deal good damage to battleships and DD's but terrible vs cruisers and lacking in AA could actually bring more balance to the game.

    If they give them the US gun arcs it will be a massive mistake. Basically all they need to do is take the Kutuzov, make it smaller, more manoeuvrable, more stealthy, worse AA, alot less forgiving if you get hit...and radar instead of hydro from tier 8+, and your done. It will be a fun, competitive, balanced (maybe slightly better than the other cruisers in some regard) class of ship. But its British and this is WG.

    If you want to gift it to me I would be happy to play it and prove its crap. Otherwise I am not going to waste money on a crap ship. I hardly play this game much now. I have been playing a bit in the last couple of days but before that it has been months. And come tuesday I will once again not be playing this game at all. However if WG add in a fun UK cruiser line it might be something to get me and a few others back into the game. I know so many people who have played this game and liked it at 1st but then just go bored with the very static game play. Look at the server numbers, they are dropping and WG needs to introduce something that breaks the game so it gets away from the static long range snipping, long range torp spamming, boring game play

    1) Instead of sitting back at 20km range and shooting the other team for 15min or until some people get bored and move forward and die the game would now be pushed to fight at 15km or less. Yes the Yamato can not fire back at you, but it can fire at the other ships on your team behind you. Also if you had a couple of these ships on your team pushing forward and then sitting in smoke it might encourage the rest of your team to push forward too. 2) Any ship is faster than a cruiser sitting in smoke If you are 1v1 vs a cruiser who has used his smoke then run away. If he chases you then he is no longer in smoke and you can nail him. Dont forget I am expecting these new cruisers to have such low health pools. Around 20-25k for tier 8 and maybe 30k at tier 10. And probably no heal too at tiers 9 & 10. 3) Smoke is OP in certain situations but then so it should be. The yamato is also OP in certain situations So is the shitlanta. And radar is also OP in situations 4) I think my most played ship is the kutuzov and really, smoke + radar would not be as OP as most people and WG think it would. With the commanders skill and premium smoke you have 3 chargers so you can be pretty lose about using them. So because of this you tend to use them quite early on (well 2 atleast, save 1 just incase) and you generally have allies already spotting. Hell even in late games you get the random plane launched from a now dead cruiser spotting the battleship for you. Where the smoke + radar can be OP is really in 3 situations: 1) Its near the end game with only a few ships left and you 1v1 a enemy battleships. If you pop smoke and have no allies to spot him so use your radar and he contiunes on at you, its most likely you will kill him. 2) Preventing destroyers from coming near your smoke 3) Ranked & Team battles where you will have 2 battleships, 4 cruisers with radar and smoke and 1 carrier set up for anti-air. This is a problem but I dont see smoke + radar being so much of a problem in random battles

    But she is terrible at killing DD's Not once have i ever dies to a bloody atlanta in a DD. Her gun arcs are so stupid that I can sit at 8+ km away and dodge her shots all day. The only time she may be usefull at killing DD's is if the DD is in smoke and the atlanta sails up to the smoke, pops radar and then nails it. Otherwise you need to be an idiot to die to an atlanta in a DD.

    When they 1st released her I thought she was OP as hell and almost did buy it. Then i realised I had "A" and "D" keys and suddenly she stopped being OP. I dont even know what she is supposed to do. Jingles once said she was a good DD killer so I think most people try to play her like that. Honestly whenever i am in a DD and I see a atlanta on the other team I think "oh nice free damage". Seriously what is she good at? She cant hit anything at range so needs to get in close but if she gets in close she gets blown out of the water because her entire ship is made of citadels. She can hide behind islands and shoot...but not hit anything And even if she does hit she only has 127mm guns, I could not care less

    Yes and No its OP The problem WOWS is having right now is that tier 8+ (or even 7+ in some cases) just sucks. Its so bloody boring. Having battleships sit back at 20km+ away and try snipe the enemy, and if you wander slightly to far from your own team then you die. Smoke on the high tier cruisers would allow for some more aggressive plays. Having say 15km range on your guns would force you to close the distance and then use smoke. You would have to take risky moves to get into medium-short range, pop smoke and then hope your team can do enough damage to the enemy that by the time your smoke clears you wont be insta-nuked by an awaiting yamato :p But this is what i think is needed right now at the higher tiers. I have had the Ibuki and Isumo unlocked for ages now. (The Ibuki i unlocked like 2 weeks after the closed beta finished) and I still dont have a tier 10 because I just cant suffer any more games sitting at the back of the map trying to hit enemy ships 20km away. I also want the smoke + radar combo because the smoke + sonar is something the Lo Yang already has and when they release the german DD's is something they will probably get too. The smoke + sonar combo is more useful for close range knife fights of the DD's Where the smoke + radar is more suited to the mid-short range of the light cruisers. Could the smoke + radar be OP? Absolutely A battleship chasing down a cruiser with smoke and radar. In a 1v1 I will run away from you and wait until you get to within 9km. Pop smoke and radar and invisa-fire you and if you get too close, launch torps, and there is nothing you can do...oh except use your brain and not run at a cruiser in smoke, but that is too much for most players lol

    Not sure about the Iwaki, but the others cant really stealth torp, with every stealth skill and equipment taken you have like 0.5km before you are detected. Also i did not mean a base 17km detection range, but when firing, and even then it could be less. Is the Mogami able to stealth fire? The last time i played that ship it was so much fun but then they nerfed it But even 17km range could be too much so make it 15km or even 14km but the guns only have a 15 or 14km range. (Does the mogami's guns only have a 14km range now? Wow WG hated that ship lol

    They are my 3rd most played class Cruisers are 1st Battleships 2nd & Carriers 4th But I am really loving the russian DD's...not so much the jap ones anymore. Used to love the Lo Yang but people know how to counter that now

    1st off I hope the new British light cruisers are nothing like the shitlanta. I would love them to be somewhere between the kutuzov and russian DD's Size & health, Gun range, Manoeuvrability, AA etc should be inbetween the two of thse Radar. The british had probably the best radar in the world at that time so it would be a travesty if the cruisers did not get it. Smoke This one i am kind of iffy on. I think it would work perfectly on them but really the light cruisers are supposed to be fleet escorts and chasing down destroyers or providing AA cover. Maybe I am wrong but i just could not see them producing a smoke screen to cover a convoy...or maybe they did, I am not an expert on naval warfare in WW2 lol Without the smoke though i just cant see how these cruisers are going to work. You need the smoke to get out of trouble. They will have no armour to speak off and probably low health too. AA In order to make them not OP they should have the lowest health out of any cruiser and one of the worst, if not the worst AA rating for any cruiser. Torps & Concealment I have put these two together because WG has to be careful that with the right equipment and skills, the cruisers are not able to stealth torp. For the tier 8 cruiser (which is where you get the 1st concealment equipment correct?) I would like the lowest the detection rating can get to, to be around 10-11km. The torp range would be around 8-9km, with around 55 knots speed, average detection ability & damage. Guns (Range) The tier 8 should have around a 17km detection range (however WG should be careful that they are not able to stealth fire). The tiers 9 & 10 could get the equipment that increases this and so they would be able to stealth fire...hell if a zao & ibuki can stealth fire than so can these. Their role should be 1) To use their speed and radar to catch and kill enemy DD's 2) To use their small size and manoeuvrability to avoid getting hit at by long range fire by enemy battleships and cruisers. 3) To use smoke to get out of any problems, or sit in the smoke and stealth fire battleships and use their torps to nail anything trying to catch them in the smoke. Now people may say that they will completely negate DD's and that is kind of a yes and no answer. Russian DD's will still be smaller, more manoeuvrable, stealthier and with the right captain perk about the same gun range. And while they have less health, they also cant be citadel hit. So while the light cruisers will have better guns than the russian DD's, they will be more susceptible to being hit (and citadeled). Stealth torping DD's will still be able to stealth torp but you will just have to be careful not to get too close to the UK cruisers. However. towards the end game, DD's will not be able to sail around completely undetected, ninja torping battleships with no chance of ever being found So where as everyone says the russian DD's are small cruisers I would like to see the british light cruisers as big destroyers. Thoughts?

    Most Fun and Exciting Game I Have Had

    So what should i have done different that game? Fought one the bensons in a gun fight? Ha Fought the battleship in a fun fight? Maybe at higher tiers but my guns have a 9km range...hmm na i am ok with loosing all my health to 1 lucky salvo from a battleship Maybe i could have fought the cruisers in a gun fight? Is that your genius advice you are giving me? Or do i rely on a lucky torp drop at which point battleship players come on the forum and cry nerf DD's

Ok some continuing on from my last post about wtf have WG done to this game I want to describe to you the most fun & exciting game I have ever had So i am in the jap tier 6 DD (mutuski?) in a tier 8 game with only 2 enemy DD's, so far not too bad. I go to cap the centre point and run into a benson. Ok I drop smoke, drop torps (all miss) and get out of there while taking some light damage. I then go and support our left flank but by the time i get there its only a few ships left. But hey I see a enemy battleship so i get to within about 7,5 km and line up my torps. I see he is slowing down so I put 1 group of torps behind the lead indicator and the other just slightly ahead...both torps manage to pass behind the battleship despite him sailing in a straight line. But must be those go-kart engines on those battleships, 0-light speed in under 4 seconds. Anyway our team kills the battleship anyway. But now back to that Benson. I ask my kutuzov (?), who was on half health for help. I say I will go find him, watch for torps and he can kill him. I find the benson but our tier 8 cruiser decided a gun fight with a DD is too much for him and runs away. Luckily for me the Benson decided to focus on killing that idiot instead of me....and yes, a DD did kill one of the best DD killing cruisers using nothing but his guns, and was not invisible during any of the engagement. But nm, while the benson is dealing with that idiot there is a a cap circle and a carrier around here. I took the cap and looked to see where his planes are coming from and headed off in that direction and eventually find him. Unfortunatly he also spotted me with his planes and so began to attack me with his torp bombers. I am not an idiot so begin to turn and drop smoke, change speed etc and etc and avoid his torp bombers. The dive bombers hit me but its no big deal. I pop my speed booster and continue on after the carrier trying to close the distance...oh god carriers are fast. Oh wait no, here comes the 2nd wave of attack. Again i turn to avoid, miss all the torp bombers but the dive bombers still hit a [edited]moving DD. Anyway again i try chase him down. wait a min, where the [edited]did he go, he was only about 8-9km away from me....so a bloody ship the size of a battleship almost the same camo rating as a bloody DD? Urgh no matter, i continue to chase him down, dodge his 3rd wave of attack (dive bombers still hit me though) and dont even get to within gun range before the game ends. Thats right I spent 15 min sailing round and round and round and round. I did 0 damage but shot down 2 aircraft and took a cap for 1000 base XP. DD's are totally OP, WG please nerf more. Please give them a 15km camo raiting and guns which fire jam donuts at the enemy, we dont want them to do actual damage now do we. Noooo we must rely on torp RNG except for tier 10 when we can do torp wall spam...how [edited]fun. I know this game is slow but wtf was the point of me being in that game I cant even get within torp range of a bloody aircraft carrier. Now i know that DD's can be a pain in the arse to find. So how about instead of making them crapWG made them good. And instead of making it world of battleships, they nerfed battleships...i know its a crazy idea right. Then more people would play DD's and the DD's could spot other DD's, and then cruisers could then shoot the DD's.
  15. My 1st game back and I decided to test out carriers again. Tier 7 in a tier 9 game (I thought they changed this MM to +/-1 but nm). I spot a enemy DD, and lose 2 torp bombers from the ani air guns of a [edited]DD before i can drop my torps. But hey, no probs, i am supposed to be killing battleships right? Torp Bombers are up again. I spot a Iowa by itself. Ok lets go for him. Oh wtf where have half my planes gone? Ok i get its 2 tiers higher but i lose 4 planes out of 8 before i can drop my torps and lose the rest on the way out? Really. Ok a terpitz has bad AA yea? Nope, planes all gone. Okay okay so WG nerfed carriers, but how about DD's You know the ships with no armour, no health, crapguns and only their camo to keep them alive. Oh yea they have torps but you need to be an idiot to get hit by them. Ok so i take my tier 8 DD out and get into a tie 10 game. Urgh ok nm i am still an sneeky DD. I spot a cruiser about 8km away. No problem i think, I will just drop some torps and run away. Oh wait wtf i am spotted? How, what, where. There is no DD here. Wait what there is radar? So the only [edited]thing i had going for me was my stealth and no I dont even have that. WTF Ok [edited]this i will just take a battleship. Oh look this is easy. My AA rips apart any planes that comes near me. My cruisers spot and DD that comes near me. And my guns have better range and accuracy than and cruiser that tries to hurt me. Oh but this is ship is sooo slow. Oh god this is boring. So how about cruisers? Have WG nerded them too? Have they reduced fire damage? Increased the citadel area? Honestly I played this game in beta and everybody said Battleships are OP, Cruisers are OP, Destroyers are OP, Carriers are OP. Well if everything is OP then its all balanced right? But noo, WG had to go nerf the [edited]out off all the fun ships and now we are left with world of battleships....how boring
