I'm a bit puzzled about Kitakami: "The main balance change for Kitakami will be the introduction of torpedo loaders similar to submarines, two of them in total, one for each side of the ship. After firing all four torpedoes from one launcher, the torpedo launchers will reload 1 by 1. Each side of the ship can only reload one launcher at a time." Let's say all my tubes are empty, and I have the base torpedo reload of 81 seconds, what happens? Does ONE launcher per side reloads at a time, and gets ONE torpedo every 20.25 seconds, while nothing happens to the other four launchers? If so, does it mean that reloading all 10 launchers would take 405 seconds (6 minutes and 45 seconds)? Let's say one of my launcher is reloading and has 2 torpedoes in, can I launch the two of them? Can I launch them one by one, or are they launched together at the same time? Anyway, these torpedoes look quite nasty: Maximum damage - 11833. Range - 14.0 km. Speed - 82 kt. Reload time - 81 s. Launcher 180 degree turn time – 7.2 s. Torpedo detectability - 1.7 km. Reaction time is 7.7 seconds. Their speed can be brought up to 90.4 knots, with a reaction time of 7 seconds. Reload can be brought down to 62 seconds, and the damage to 13 608. When fully loaded, you have more or less two hallands on each side. "Interesting"...

Take care of yourselves, guys. The degradation of one's mental health is slow and insidious, and sometimes lead to some extremes you didn't imagine you could reach.

A shame this was a loss, but I now have a new damage record. One that is pretty high on the EU leaderboards, too. -
EDIT: Thanks everyone for your answers, I find the mystery solved and the case closed. Cheers! Some of you might be aware that, in World of Tanks, some people rig the game by making several accounts in divisions join at the same time. One division goes afk somewhere in the map and stays hidden, the other division in the opposing team farms the first division and uses it to gather intelligence on the opponents' locations, getting insane results and often a win. Example here: (I think QB made a video on this as well some time ago) Reccuring themes seem to be: -old accounts that were inactive come back to life, with atrocious performances. These are the accounts that go AFK. -other account seems to get god-like performances out of the blue Now, because of the differences in gameplay in WoWs, this seem to be harder to pull off. A player can decimate alone half of the opposing team in WoT, not so much in WoWs (it's possible, but so much harder). Furthermore, AFK ships end up being removed from the random queue, which is not the case in WoT. So some form of activity can be required. Never the less, I'd be surprised if this isn't at least attempted in WoWs. I'm asking because I met with suspicious accounts today: The first two I will call potato division: Two old accounts, with infrequent activity, that seem to play most of their game together in a division, with an abyssaly low WR in the 35%, together in the same clan that only has 3 members, the third one being inactive for more than 2 years now. Having them in my team, I saw extremely passive gameplay (doing nothing in the back), no interaction with teamates, and extremely poor performances, like completely missing stationary targets by a huge margin. The other two I will call the suspicious division: Two old accounts as well, with below average WR. Both seem to play regularly together, as I get from wows stats similar numbers of games in divisions of 2, with similar WR, during the same periods of time. Interessingly, looking at their matches' results, we can see a HUGE variation in results: 26 matches with 69% WR, then 16 matches with 36% WR etc. The results are completely over the place, without any form of consistency I very often see when looking at a player's details. I saw these accounts in a division in two games in a row. First, both in my team (failure at a sync drop?), second in separate teams. The suspicious division's performances were pretty bad in both games. I know I can't conclude on anything with only two games, that I'm making tons of conjectures, that maybe the potato division is just horrible players, and that the big variations in the suspicious division's results is just down to luck, just as the fact I met with the same two divisions in two games in a row. I don't think I can really post the accounts' names etc, that would go against the forum rules. I don't think I have enough evidence to send a ticket to WG either. There are too many conjectures at play. All of this is more of a hunch than anything. But am I really being delusional here? Have you guys had a similar experience? Is there some recorded incident of this nature in WoWs, or other people having similar suspicions? And I'm not talking about the insane ramblings from SteelSharks. (edit: or from Zlaraki) Do I need to start taking meds before it's too late?

[Solved] Match rigging in WoWs? (probalby not)
Viridem replied to Viridem's topic in General Discussion
Thanks everyone for your answers! So basically my hypothesis is possible, but very unlikely. Which, after a good night's sleep and a clearer mind, makes a lot of sense. I guess what I saw really was just a coincidence. If there was anything to actually see, that is. Mystery solved! -
Yeah I wouldn't recommend a secondary build on Daisen. Sure the secondaries have interesting aspects: high DPM, high fire chances and improved accuracy, well complimented by a strong torpedo suite. But the guns are 140mm and 127mm: you won't damage anything but DDs and superstructure, IFHE seems highly recommended. And mostly the ship's survivability is too low. You generally won't live long enough to use your secondaries. I use a secondary build on Iwami, which has far better survivability than Daisen, and staying alive can already be an issue. Daisen can be very successful at brawling, but you will have to very carefully pick your fight. Even then, it will happen in a minority of battles. I'd rather invest my upgrades and captain skills in the main battery, speed and survivability. These will be needed in every battle. Maybe in other game modes, like brawl or ranked, where the matches are generally shorter and against far fewer opponents. Or coop. Actually that looks like a good build for coop.

As it turns out, Daisen has a lot of potential in a brawl. You just need to be careful in picking your battle. Torpedoes ended up being my main source of damage. I'm really enjoying this ship! Other screenshots and replay there. -
Because Shinonome gives up on everything for gun dpm. Concealment, maneuvrability, torpedoes, gun range and traverse speed. Even on AA, to a point where she can't shoot down fighters. The gun dpm is only average for her tier, and the traverse speed is so bad that they are uncomfortable to use. Having one more turret in the back is valuable when kiting away, but that's about it. Shinonome is fine overall, but I'd rather play Fubuki.

Only 3 battles so far, but I like this ship. I built it for speed, which means I took the Brisk and CE skills, as well as propulsion modification 1, none of which I usually take on BBs. I didn't record the difference, but I first played with rudder shift mod, and it does feel like propulsion mod helps quite a bit after turning or decelerating, contrary to some infos I found. Going faster than some DDs feels pretty cool The improved spotter plane is awesome. It plays very well in synergy with the guns, which perform well at long range. At close to medium range getting so many overpens is frustrating, but with some distance I was able to land solid salvoes. The first game was in arms race (not the one pictured), and with the three reload upgrades the team picked up, I was down to a 16 seconds reload. Alongside the poor survability, I really felt the "cruiser" part of "battlecruiser"! I didn't have an opportunity to use the torpedoes. The ship doesn't like being shot at, and seems to be designed to be played at ranges where you can somewhat dodge shells (even with that horrible rudder), lower your risks of getting focused and mostly disengage quickly. I didn't enjoy my time with that Nakhimov. Screw that thing. As a bonus the perma camo looks very nice. It's based on the one Akitsushima received, and to my knowledge she was the only ship to receive this kind of pattern. They keep using it on premiums though, which I don't mind much because of how nice it is, but other patterns existed and it would be good to see them too. For starters, they could give Myoukou her actual historical camouflage. The one we currently have in-game, despite similar, is totally wrong. But I'm nitpicking there. Fun ship.

Some very welcome changes, I see! Mutsuki: I prefer Mutsuki over Minekaze already, so this can only be good in my eyes. Fubuki: I'm not sure she needed that buff. If so, Hatsuharu and Shinonome would need to follow. Especially Shinonome. Mogami 203s and Ibuki: The ships were already adequate, but I don't mind some catch-up to the powercreep. Zao: Ok, but can you improve the one thing the ship has always needed: firing angles? I'd like the rudder shift buff back on the UU, too. Japansese CLs: Finally an improvement where it matters. These light cruisers still have worse concealment and maneuvrability than their heavy cruiser counterparts (go figure), but that's a very nice buff there. Why not give it to Omono as well? Better guns is nice and dandy (and was truly needed), but she too is a pain to sail. While you're at it, WG, can you buff Agano's maneuvrability too?

I can crap all over the low tier players with a 10 points captain. There are some ships for which I'm not sure what to take past 14 points, because the skills seem absolutely unecessary. What I mean is that your idea would change next to nothing.

I had a teamate ask if we were to attack or defend... And by the actions of quite a few, I suppose he was far from being the only one not understanding the objective. I know many players don't invest themselves in the game and just play casually, but it seems that a good part don't even invest energy into reading what's on the screen. We very often accuse WG of ruining their own game, but for sure the playerbase is guilty of the same crime... So yeah: flip of coin. Am I getting the potato team, or the tomato team?
-
I find it weird they'd abreviate the alternative name of a mountain ("Bungofuji" seems to be the actual name. To my understanding "Fuji" seems to be part of it, as opposite to "Kongou-san" for example, where you can drop the "san" as it means mountain), instead of using its more formal name, Yufu. I believe they went with the province name. After all, it is where Will Adams arrived in 1600. He told the Shogun that the Jesuits' aim was to eventually colonise Japan, by first introducing Christianity to its population. This had massive consequences down the line, notably regarding relationships with the West. It seems fitting to give this name to a warship, it being a way to interact with the West... Maybe WG considers this design to be closer to battleship than battlecruiser, hence their choice?

I always found lines that start at tier VIII to be disapointing, it looks like unfinished work. (Although not as unfinished as a line that ends at tier VIII...) Plus there were apparently enough paper designs to make a full line. Weird. Maybe their plan with these lines is to make the same amount of work last twice as long ? Release the tier VIII+ first, come back later to finish the job ? Anyway. I really like Amagi, and always found Izumo and Yamato to be a pain to play, so I'm quite positive about that. I just hope that they won't make the armour too thin, closer to Amagi than Kii or Ashitaka... Why "Bungo" ? Battlecruisers are named after mountains, not provinces...

Having to land 4 Shimakaze torpedoes on a Yueyang to sink it. Sometimes I absolutely despise the saturation mechanic. It feels absolutely inconsistent at times. Luckily it didn't change the outcome at all. -
I don't know how big a factor it would be, but it would surely be one. This is the main reason I quit WoT: not only is being bottom tier even more brutal (there are matchups where you're basically powerless, which almost never happens in WoWs), but the impact of equipment and crew skill is huge. The grind to get them is even worse. New players not only have to deal with veterans' skills, but the veterans are given a straight advantage over them too ? In what way is that good game design ? It reminds me of Strike Vector, too. The game is super fun and looked promising, but the skill floor and ceiling were super high, with a steep learning curve. The number one complaint was that new players were getting destroyed so hard that they basically had no chance to play, or even learn. Good players refused to aknowledge the issue (git gud it's not hard you just need to dodge), and the game died very quickly. As for the graphs themselves I don't know what to make of them. Many good but opposing views have been brought up above. I have seen similar arguments and data brought up years ago foretelling the death of TF2 , and the game is still going, after 16 years... WoWs has to die someday anyway, we'll have to wait and see.

Interesting new WoWs Server Statistical site (EU only for now)...
Viridem replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Ah it gives the mean WR with standard deviation, nice. I always wondered about that. -
You should sail close to teamates to benefit from combined AA guns, and dodge incoming attacks. Oh sorry, tactics for the wrong ship. You should sail closer to your teamates to benefit from combined ASW, and dodge incoming attacks. There you go.

A Submarine Branch I Would Make If I were A Big Wig At WG HQ.
Viridem replied to TheBudgieAdmiral's topic in General Discussion
When your wife cheats on you, you divorce her, you don't give her money so she can have a nice dinner with her boyfriend. It is a good thing to look down upon and treat with contempt someone that betrays your trust, as well as anyone encouraging that behaviour. Hence why so many people react this way towards WG, submarines, and the ones who play them...- 17 replies

What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

The game itself wasn't that interesting, but a solo warrior is always nice to get. We had a 600 points advantage and all three caps when everyone decided to die, so I ran for almost 4 minutes, and we won. Despite top scoring (2179 exp, which is alright) and wining us the game, I lost 2 karma points. I suppose some reds were sore losers... I even apologised in all chat for runing. :/ -
I didn't find any evidence of the rising sun flag being banned anywhere. Badly regarded in Korea or China yes, but not officially banned. Communists symbols seem to be banned in Lithuania, outside of educational purposes or collection, which don't apply to this game. Yet, here they are. I don't like censorship of this kind, and moded back in the removed but historical symbols. If you find the Francoist Coat of Arms to be fitting, go ahead. Oh, and more overmatch at tier 10. Every day we have less incentive to play high tier.

Some fun game in Iwami. Starting in one corner of the map and ending on the other side, plowing through everything in the way. Got a dev strike on an Ignacio Allende during the thunderstorm. He was turning away 10km away from me, so I blind fired using the minimap. Boom, gone. You miss every shot you don't take, as they say. Replay and other screenshots here. -
I don't remember people talking about blacklists before this season, or maybe the previous one. But now I see from times to times players say "there are X players in the team in my blacklist". Every time they are average players at best, every time they don't answer my questions in chat... I don't think they base their blacklist on performance, but rather on who had a potty mouth in chat, which I might be guilty of from time to time. Which is what the blacklist is for, but I find it extremely weird to talk about it in chat. It gives some "local snitch for the Stasi" vibes. "Look out team, some of us might say bad words!" I wish people kept this kind of behaviour to social media, it's more than enough. (For the anedcdote, I left reddit when an user brought up some "wrongthink" of mine I had on a totally unrelated topic. He bragged about having a browser extension that allowed him to put tags on reddit users, that only him could see, and used it to "hold people accountable". He had many upvotes for that, which made me realise how many insane people are on that site. Since then, my "controversial opinion" has been officially admitted as factual, by the way...) But yeah, often ranked is a nice way to lose karma points for no reason. You have to be an absolute gigachad to gain karma in ranked, or the nicest person ever, or be lucky. This is even worse in brawl. The best thing to do is ignore these guys and not take your karma seriously. The first feed on people reacting to them, the second is useless. The first might be useless too, actually...

Why MM doesn't like those who want to play 8 levels
