Cool on both accounts. Keep up the good work!

    [12.6] Wyvern's Historical Skin Workshop

Thanks, I liked several of the custom camouflages, but first time I tried installing, I didn't know what to do with with all the excess .xml files and just selected the Dunkerque in 1940, then noticed all default camouflages were gone as well, so thought something was off.. BTW, will there be a version of the Bismarck's camouflage in the Baltic? The one with the black and white stripes on the side of the hull, including the superstructure? Or one where she is painted grey overall, as during Rheinübung? Those are sorely missing from the game..
  3. Done, and with your help managed to actually install it correctly, so this problem is more or less solved as far as I am concerned..

    Last shot before you die

It is not just latency, a full spread is fired one at the time and that takes a second or two, so if they are not ALL fired, then NONE are considered to be fired.

Not sure how I messed that up, but copied the script again and now it works, thanks! Is the xml file included with the custom camouflages the same one each time, or unique for that particular camouflage? I might be willing to give up on the default camouflages, if I decide to use several different custom ones..

I only have the stock hull for Bayern, as the other one is made up, but get the Kriegsmarine ensign. I would think that the stock hull would get the Imperial Navy flag, while the upgraded hull, which supposedly is in the Kriegsmarine era, should get the Kriegsmarine ensign. Dresden also only has the Kriegsmarine ensign, on both hulls.. How does this work, exactly? I also tried to install the Dunkerque 1940 scheme, which looks great, but then I noticed that all my premium ships now no longer had their premium perma camo.. Can I have both, or do I have to choose one or the other?
  7. Really? Didn't know that.. I thought it was one flag for every ship. Linky link link? Does any one of them change the IJN flag too?

    Event Calendar for October

I'm just here to add to the chorus of people requesting an event calendar for November, posted on the website, in time for.. November. And to say I like the idea of having an IJN Navy weekend, the weekend after the first RN branch drops..

    Torpedo one by One

Ah, good to know, hadn't tried it yet.. Yes, I can see that happening.. Torpedoes could not be reloaded in real life anyway, but to unload one and then reload.. Yeah, that makes sense..

    Interface Changes Feedback

I think I am experiencing a slow down in the loading of a battle. Used to be it was over pretty quickly, almost always the first to get into battle, now it seems to take longer. I don't understand why the carousel doesn't show the currently selected ship or ships by default. I have RN and French ships selected, go into the tree, select HMS Warspite, end up looking at the greyed out ships much further into the carousel. IMHO it should center on the selected ships, always. If you've selected a ship outside of the filters, then it should, if possible, show both. I really want the 'full tech tree' mod to be implemented in game ASAP. I have a lot of ships and keep having to filter, click, do whatever, just to find a specific ship. Several premiums, such as HMS Belfast, are NOT shown in the tech tree, so I have to hunt them down, especially when the carousel doesn't work as I proposed above..

    Royal Navy Cruisers Feedback

Copy pasted again from another post, because this seems to keep coming up.. HMS Leander, HMS Fiji and HMS Belfast are my favourites for now.. True WW2 cruisers, with all kinds of neat tricks up their sleeves.. Think you've got me? HA! Take this smokescreen! (That I run out of cos I'm too fast.. trying to learn to slow down FIRST and THEN use smoke..) Think you can hide from me? HA! Take my sonar/radar biatch! (Just caught a DD unawares, sitting still in smoke.. blammo!) My first battles with HMS Fiji were all losses, despite doing up to 60 k dmg in some battles, which for me, while cruisering, is really quite excellent. Just had a lucky streak, so ymmv..

    RN CL take a breath

Too few options available, so can't use this poll. At present, despite them being hard to play, at least the tier VI-VII ships that I am currently mostly playing, are a lot of fun. copy/paste from another post: HMS Leander, HMS Fiji and HMS Belfast are my favourites for now.. 13. Please, no.. First of all, this would associate present day Germany with Nazi warships and secondly, it would look even more stupidly anachronistic. I read a book by Douglas Reeman once, a highly recommended author by the way, that some idiot illustrator made a cover for, depicting a King George V class battleship with the West-German (at the time) flag.. EDIT: I just recalled, worst of all, it was about a World War One commerce raider, a German merchant ship with guns..
  14. But it is. This comes up every once in a while, so here we go again: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strafgesetzbuch_section_86a Since the Nazi flags are outlawed, Neo-Nazis have used the flags of the German Kaiserreich instead, making those suspect as well (ironically, some of those flags appear to have been outlawed by the Nazis at the time). WG doesn't want to risk their game being banned or becoming controversial, so doesn't touch this with a ten-foot pole. Other games have taken similar measures, or have been forced to change their game in Germany at least. This can be solved with a mod, IF the kind folks at WG were to give the ships or the Imperial German Navy a separate flag. In the original game file, the flag would be identical to the one used on WW2 era ships, but a mod could replace it with the authentic flag. This way WG can avoid any controversy, while with a simple mod we can have ships with authentic flags. Currently I am mostly playing RN and there is NOTHING more satisfying than firing at German ships flying that nasty flag.. Not that I have anything against the Germans, mind you, don't want to offend anyone..

    The World of Warships ModStation!

TBH, that is the ONE thing I knew I wanted.. And I hate having to install one mod after another.. They don't get cleaned up either whenever there is a new release, so if I forget to do so myself, in 5 years, I'll run out of disk space..

    english-russian cruiser swap

I'm having fun with the RN cruisers right now, so.. No thanks.. Plus the uproar, seriously, no. Plus they won't do it, cos the Russian fanbase would be livid, as well as basically everyone who has these ships already and would need to completely relearn them..

RN CLs: what to free xp?

I thought I'd played all ships at least once, turns out I skipped Danae and Emerald.. Can't say I miss them, but I'll give them a go just to be fair.. 18. Duking it out with a Scharnhorst in my HMS Fiji. Almost sank that big bugger, but time ran out.. One more salvo and I would have had him.. or someone on my team at least, we were winning quite handsomely.. But RN versus Kriegsmarine felt really good!

    ESL for Warships?

Probably, but they are still working on the whole 'clan' thing. Plus we don't even have the full German, Russian/Soviet/Russian and Royal Navy trees yet..

    Enough is enough!

It depends, as people are still grinding, but in some battles, I encounter several HMS Belfasts, or HMS Fijis, while at the lower tiers, I've noticed a lot of RN cruisers.. I used a lot of free XP to get to HMS Fiji, not everyone has that available, or wants to spend that. Personally, I'm grinding towards HMS Edinburgh. But that was not my main point and not sure this is really on topic..

    Guide: British Cruisers

So far, I actually really like the RN cruisers. I was not sure what to expect after the recent hubbub about them being ready and then being rebalanced. But after playing them for all of three days, I've managed to do a bit better than I usually do with cruisers in at least some of my games. Not consistent enough to be satisfied, but there is at least a glimmer of hope that I may end up mastering these ships, and perhaps this class as a whole (my winrate is barely average in part due to the fact that I suck at cruisering, but still insist on playing them from time to time). And them being RN, makes me willing to invest the time and effort. I was not expecting them to literally rule the waves, I did not expect to left-click and see my opponents esplode, they certainly don't work that way.. but they ARE different, while still being a force to reckon with. Earlier today I almost managed to sink a Scharnhorst, doing over 40 k dmg on her alone, even though the player involved was targeting me for quite some time. I managed to avoid being sunk, had a lot of my HP left at the end of the game. Granted, my team was winning handsomely, granted, I had help, but still, it really was one battle that felt right to me, as we were mostly focused on each other. That is how it is supposed to be, Allies vs Axis. not a free-for-all. I can already imagine what it'll be like to square off with HMS King George V against Bismarck.. *licks lips* So far, I think they will be hard to master, but that they certainly are viable. And they look great, I especially love HMS Leander, HMS Fiji and HMS Belfast, and for the first time in ages, feel like grinding the normal way, towards HMS Edinburgh.. That is the last one that I want, the paper designs don't interest me, but getting to HMS Edinburgh will feel like an accomplishment, especially if I manage to get my skills up with HMS Fiji. That said, I really don't think they are THE destroyer hunters. At all. Not even HMS Belfast, as the moment I tried to play that role, I was spotted and shot at from all angles and quickly lost a lot of HP.

    Torpedo one by One

Huh. Interesting, didn't know you could reload with 'F'. Could come in handy, thanks for pointing that out! I've started experimenting with firing one at the time. One the one hand, it takes extra time. On the other hand, it allows you to distribute torpedoes in such a way that you can hopefully cut off a ship's room to manoeuvrer . On the gripping hand, it allows you to keep at least one torpedo in your quiver, so you can quickly fire one more if the target moves in a direction you had not anticipated. It also allows the tactic successfully employed in the Battle of the Barents' Sea: fake a launch, firing off one torpedo, force the enemy to turn away. Or the 'Dirty Harry': did I launch one torpedo, two, or three? Do you feel lucky, punk?
  23. Hmm, interesting, hadn't noticed that. Looks okay, but not worth the 2000 doubloons. Bring it down to 500 or so and I will buy a few of them. Still waiting for the original hull and triple 283 mm gun turrets too..
  24. TheCinC

    Is the Belfast REALLY overpowered?

HMS Belfast is super squishy, especially as she doesn't have heal or torpedoes, like the ships in the regular light cruiser branch. If the enemy stays at range, she can be taken out pretty quickly. Smoke isn't going to help her and although she can maintain speed during a turn, her top speed isn't very high.
  25. TheCinC

    Enough is enough!

I think part the problem is accuracy and manoeuvrability. Right now cruisers are temporarily more popular, due to the RN light cruiser line having been released, but that will pass. Cruisers are, imho, hard to play, with little reward. I am admittedly below average when playing cruisers, I can dodge and weave all I want, I still get hit and often just don't last long enough to do enough damage. I think this can be fixed by reducing the chance of a hit depending on how much you've changed course and/or speed between shells being fired and landing. If that leads to cruisers becoming too effective/hard to kill, then reduce their firepower a little. But yeah, a forced ratio of CV to BB to CA to DD, as well as a proper mix of gun DDs/torpedo DDs and heavy versus light cruisers, could help. WG based this game on the assumption that it would be rock-paper-scissors. But it has turned into Rock-rock-rock-rock-scissors, with very little paper. Another problem is, people don't support each other/don't play their role. Cruisers go too far forward, battleships stay too far in the back, resulting in the cruisers dying quickly and the battleships being without escorts. Something to encourage players to play the role that fits their type of ship best, would probably help too. And I may be biased, as I am a huge battleship nut, but I think I am by no means the only one here. Battleships are just awesome. So this will always be World of Battleships, unless something is done to make other ship types at least as attractive and/or the MM enforces balanced teams.
