Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

So you're saying that this event is WG EU's equivalent of saying: don't drop the soap?

    Needs more immersion

This is already in the game? What is the difference? I already can't understand what my Japanese and Russian captains are saying..
  3. Was in my Yamato, Bastion mode, on Hotspot today. Between 2 forts and a Zao, got burned to a crisp. Even Ya-ma-toooo's guns were no match for the forts sturdy construction. In real life, of course, they would have penetrated into the magazines and blown up the whole thing. How about a citadel hit on forts? It has happened before.. Case in point: several forts in Belgium during WW1.

    eu server vs the rest

People on the forum may not be representative of the server population as a whole, that is true. But I suspect most of them are dedicated players, people with a passion for the game, who at least want to like it, just see things that could be improved. The people who don't care fall in two categories: people who've given up and casual players who don't care either way. Neither group is likely to provide a steady stream of revenue. Compare that to the collectors and history nerds. If you keep those happy, at least some of them will be big spenders for a long time. Some of us may still spend money on this game, due to little to no real competition. Others will cut back spending, in part or entirely, until the message comes across. Why would I invest in a game that I am no longer sure that I'll like in a year or so? As for EU whining more compared to the other servers, I've defended WG a lot in the past, regarding ship offers and stuff. But the way that we are treated when it comes to events, has been poor in the past, such as with the 'secret' reward a while ago. And now this.. All other servers get a full fledged campaign extra, as well as extra challenges. Free ships, free camouflages, lots of other extra free stuff. But EU? No. And then they even claim that they arranged it this way because that is supposedly better for us. Which is a claim that is just untenable. Who likes LESS content? No one. Case closed. So it is a money grab, at the expense of the EU players, some of whom, like me, have already spent a lot of money on this game. I am not asking to be treated any better than NA or Asia. But equal? Making me feel appreciated? Hell yes.

    Premium camo for T10 ships

Missouri has radar, which is great, and is a really good money-maker. I wouldn't spend any money on premium camo tho.

    HMS Thunderchild - Name Suggestion

While I like the ship and its heritage, it is not a real ship, so if it should be included at all, then as a cheap/free low tier premium, or for an event. There could be an HMS Thunderer (Lion class BB).

From what I gather, they also interact more, have a dedicated WoWs representative. Not sure though, don't play there, so not active on their forum (that is a requirement somehow).

    Needs more immersion

The klaxons sound good, until you hear them for the 100th time in a row.. So only if you get a separate on/off toggle. As for crew on deck: not going to happen, as it would affect the rating of the game, leading it to not be accessible to kids, so fewer players, so less income. They have categorically stated as much. Crew in port is another thing, we will get that. And let's not forget ol' mister torpedo polisher. He is currently swabbing the deck, did anyone notice that? Did he get demoted? As for more immersion, one easy fix for me: Introduce game modes that make sense. I would consider playing PvE only if they introduced historical battles and convoy escort and stuff (and maybe improved the AI). The current: cap random area of sea somehow, I still don't understand that mechanic, how are you even supposed to do that, plant a flag in the middle of the ocean, on a buoy or mine or something? If it is too difficult to implement something sensible in PvP, then why not a deathmatch mode? EVERYONE wants to just sink the enemy ships, EVERYONE! Deatchmatch Allies vs Axis would be awesome.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

Ouch.. Unless we get the same event, that is kind of insult to injury: We wanted to give stuff away, but we had no excuse, so we fabricated one. Instead of WG EU: We had an excuse to give away stuff, but we fabricated a way to not do so.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

If you think I am unable to withhold my money from a company that treats me like crap, than I got two examples for you: 1) I bought a Philips monitor and it broke down, within the warranty period. I contacted them, they finally decided not to do anything about it, as the monitor was sold after the period that it was supposed to be sold, making my warranty invalid. I'd had a few other problems with them before that, but that was my first and last direct contact with them directly. As a result, despite it being a Dutch company, I've never bought any of their products ever again, would actively discourage people from buying their brand. 2) EA and Mass Effect 3, promises were made and not kept, I decided never to buy from them again. With them putting out the same crapover and over again each year, Origin being the mess that it is, it has been very easy to live up to that one. For both companies, over a lifetime, even if I don't manage to convince other people, that does translate in a lot of lost sales. Not enough if no one else has that attitude, but still.

What did you do.. WHAT DID YOU DO??? Come on man, I hope you weren't rude to MrConway, he is just doing his job, no doubt reporting back to his superiors that EU is in a tizzy and something needs to be done. Then they look at their numbers and say: naaah..

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

Like I said before, this was certainly not done on a whim or by a low level employee. They had to take out content that was already ready to go. Someone said they had the whole content ready, translated into Polish. So yeah, this is just a marketing decision, trying to squeeze more money out of us. Less free stuff = more spending? Nope, not going to reward that. I am a pretty big spender regarding this game, but I had already become more reluctant to spend money and this just makes it even harder to justify spending money on this game. I've basically stopped buying doubloons and credits, I already have enough premium time to last until late next year, and basically at this point I just want the RN, everything else is just gravy. If more people feel that way and stop spending money, maybe they will backtrack and start paying attention to us. I read somewhere that something similar worked for NA, but not sure if that is true. It should work that way though. On the other hand, it may lead them to focus more on the Russian server and come up with more Russian ships, which might accelerate a negative spiral. I really would love for this game to succeed, become better, include all the ships that I want, have fun game modes that are at least a little historically correct, even a kind of deathmatch scenario would be better than what we have. But what part of 'treat your customers right' and 'don't bite the hand that feeds you' do they not understand? I'm not going to throw money at people who basically treat me like crap and then expect me to still hand over my money to them.
  13. In the survey for this patch, I noted that it was bad that there was a fort guarding the exit from C. You can't exit that way any more of that fort is in enemy hands. Instantly spotted. I also mentioned that 5 zones was a tad bit too much and that I didn't like bastion in the first place.. So of course they went live with it..
  14. Something like this happened early on in a game just after they introduced new animations for ships sinking. We sank a ship and one of us got too close to it in its last moments and was pushed under completely when the sinking ship rolled over on top of our ally. I made a ticket for it and haven't seen it since.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

Guys, I probably won't be here this evening, so won't be in on the live stream. But while I think this was a really bad move, with no defensible explanation, another one in a chain of bad moves regarding EU server, don't take it out on MrConway and whoever the other person is. MrConway is a relatively low-level representative and I am basically in the same line of work, as I've pointed out before. What usually happens in cases like this, is that someone up top makes a boo-boo. The CSRs find out from customer feed back, send a report to go up the food chain, up top comes back with: just say you're sorry and doesn't do anything to fix the problem. The CSRs then have to repeat whatever line they've been given, toe the line, or get a reprimand. But without the CSR, there is no way for upper management to even find out there is a problem. The problem is with upper management, not with the CSRs who just try to do their job and who would be happy if the people up top paid attention to them, as that would make their lives easier as well. No one deserves to be attacked because of where they work. TLDR: please be nice to MrConway & co, they have to work with what they are given.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

Thanks for the link. Wow, that is actually in the OP.. At least he is honest. He has nothing to offer, he has no control over anything, so anything he says on the topic will just inflame things further. As every so often, I don't envy his job. Now if only his superiors would learn from their mistakes.. Quite simply put: everyone here who spends money on this game pays for their salary. So treat us badly and we will spend less and then it is all downhill from there. What sensible reason was there to make an effort to cut content? Who likes LESS content? Does McDonalds offer a Big Mac that is half as big and doesn't have a burger and present it for the same price as the regular one?
  17. TheCinC

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

Not sure that would do much good. MrConway is just a man, doing his job, not the one making decisions. I'm not sure, and at this point I am afraid to ask, but who is Izolate?

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

Pff, there are dozens of us. Dozens! Seriously, I think there are more than enough people who like warships, although they don't cater much to the real hardcore history nerds, which might actually cost them players. If they tried to implement game modes that were both fun and a little more historically correct, rather than the current 'cap stuff/free for all', then history nerds like me would be even more invested in the game.

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

Just watching this video by Flamu: He illustrates that, in order to cut all the content for the EU server, the game client is actually different. Probably because they had to remove the convoy mechanics entirely. That must have taken some effort to code, test, etcetera. NA, Russia and Asia servers get all this extra free content, we have to pay for it with actual money or grind even more. But for EU they spent time and effort to take the challenges, the convoy missions, all of it, out of the game client. For sure, this was not done on a whim, or some random low-level decision. It is very clear now that this is not about it being too hard to get the convoy missions, that there would be too little time to do them. They could have changed the requirements, or, if that was not possible as it would upset all other servers, they could at least have left the challenges in, which give extra captain's XP and extra credits for each game won and each game won in top five. That alone would be a huge plus for me, I got a lot of ships, each with their own captain, so few of them are fully trained, if any, so if you guys think I suck, I blame my captains.. But taking all the free content out, making us grind for camouflages the other servers can win for free in a fun new game mode, even if it would be available for only ten days after completing the Graf Spee campaign.. That is just silly. I was already boycotting the perma camouflages, they are way too expensive, recently there was a question on them in the survey, told them I'd buy a lot of them if they were a lot cheaper. Thousands of doubloons for permanent camouflages is just way too expensive, especially if you have a lot of ships. So this certainly doesn't help to persuade me to buy them, so if this was a money grab, it is having the opposite effect. As stated before, I will be even more careful when making decisions to buy stuff from the premium store. I've always been a bit more willing to buy stuff, in order to support the game, in hoping it'll feature the RN BBs soon and be improved so it'll be more enjoyable. But there is no timetable on anything, as they play their cards too close to their chest, so I don't know if, let alone when, certain things will be added or changed. We have no dedicated EU representative, as we are obviously not worth that massive investment, and despite all the best efforts of the community representatives, turn around time to get an answer about WG on anything is just absurd. They already stepped in it a few times before, this is no longer explicable by just sheer communication mistakes, lost in translation or whatnot. I really wish that they would learn at some point, that this is NOT the way to treat customers, this is the way to get them to stop spending money or leave entirely. Don't get me wrong, I really want this game to succeed, want to have the RN BBs and game modes that I can enjoy, so I can spend most of each battle just looking at my pretty ships and being happy just to play them. But so far, for some reason, WG EU keeps making me feel much less like a customer and more like a cash cow. But they are forgetting, you don't kill the golden goose, don't bite the hand that feeds you.. Next few weeks, I'm going to grind the Graf Spee campaign, like hell I'll be paying for it if I can avoid it, not under these circumstances! Normally I would have bought the ship outright, might have done it just to get my hands on it sooner, hoping to recoup the investment by playing the campaign. And if they somehow manage to make the campaign unwinnable, well, there will be hell to pay. They already did that to the Nachi, which is stuck at 20-20-20-7 for me for ages now. But will they change the requirements or something?Nope. The North Cape campaign is hilarious as well, it basically requires me to suicide with a battleship by going toe to toe with cruisers. So that would be the final straw. No way this was done to make us happy, and even if it was, wow, do they not know us, or what? As if anyone EVER likes LESS content?? What do they take us for?

    Submarines

Pff, every ship can be a submarine.. .. once. Same goes for minesweeping. There was a mention of WG not completely, categorically saying subs would not be implemented in any way, shape, or form a while ago. Too lazy and too tired to look it up, but I think it was something like AI subs. That could work, IF they gave DDs depth charges and hedgehogs.

    Secret santa- completely broken?

Yesterday, I bought a few as well, after hearing they included Gremy. I didn't buy that one during closed Beta, thinking it'd be on sale sometime in the future anyway and because I wanted to see how the game developed. Was disappointed when it became clear she wouldn't be on sale again. Got most premiums that I did not have early on, getting the € 3,- boxes. Yo Lang, Ishisucki, Operator. Yo Lang was okay, but the other two.. I would consider selling them, as they were just paper designs and so far I've avoided most of those. Then a lot of other stuff, including some doubloons. Got a few of the € 1,- got more assorted stuff, a few more of the € 3,- but still no luck. Almost gave up. Bought a few more of the € 5,- boxes, in the very last one, I got the Gremy. Worth it. All in all, I spent less than I would have spent on Graf Spee and doubloons if they hadn't shafted us with the convoy missions. Bought a few more for others, but they had no luck, only camouflages.. So, yeah, it is totally random, although maybe there is some truth in more ships dropping when you already have a lot of premiums, or maybe it was just my luck. And, yes, it is gambling, so don't throw your money away if you can't afford it. All in all, it was a good deal, considering what these premiums go for normally, even most of them weren't particularly desirable for me.
  22. Well, still random, but better than last time.. Got myself a Gremy and some other stuff, gave presents to a few friends, the one that opened the boxes got nothing but camos.. Starting to feel like someone with a bad gambling habit, so putting my card away again..
  23. Quick question, these are random containers right? Delivered to people who also enrolled in the Secret Santa scheme? I hated that last year, no way to control what the recipient was getting, no knowing who was getting my packages.. I did get a container with doubloons, which I appreciated mightily, but that was from a known Santa, so are there two options? Is there at least an option to know beforehand what the present will be?

Where are the Christmas convoy missions?

So on the server where most people from the nation that built the Admiral Graf Spee play, as well as the people who hunted her down and scared her into scuttling herself, we will get scaled down missions and scaled down rewards? We even miss out on an opportunity to try a new game mode entirely? Because this is supposedly better for us? How does that make sense? Did no one have the mind-blowingly brilliant idea to just have the convoy missions AFTER the missions to unlock Admiral Graf Spee? I was actually quite happy to learn I could get Admiral Graf Spee for free, would have bought her outright otherwise. So on one hand, I am happy to get more free stuff, on the other, I don't understand why they still find a way to make us feel short-changed. How many times does it take for them to realise that they can't just take us for granted? I keep hoping they will learn from their mistakes, but, doesn't seem like it.. Well, it makes it easier to start skipping a few premium ships here and there. I want to love this game, but the gameplay doesn't do much for me, with the silly game modes, that make absolutely no sense from a naval perspective. I absolutely love many of the ships, but can't even bring myself to play them lately, because the gameplay is just too frustrating, forcing me to do things that make no sense, ending with me getting sunk with nothing to show for it. An escort mission, or a convoy raiding mission sounds excellent. I really hope they go forward with something like that, although it seems that it will only against the AI, which probably won't be much of a challenge. I also can't wait to have the RN BBs in game, but.. Unless they do something about the game modes, make CVs more accessible and stop making me feel like I am being milked for all the money I am worth, I will be much more reluctant to invest in this game. I have premium time left for just under a year, but that is left over from what I bought months ago. I haven't bought doubloons in a while, skip premium ships like the König Albert, which is mostly notable for being one of the few capital ships not present at Jutland, and will weigh my options carefully before this game turns into another WoT. I spent quite a bit of money on WoT, but in the end, I hated the fact that it was rife with paper designs and famous vehicles with guns they never had and didn't like the gameplay and lack of maps. I was really hopeful for this game when it came out, but I keep getting the feeling that WG doesn't value me as a customer. I've never even received an in-game 'special offer', probably because I've spent too much money on the game already, as said, I have almost a year's worth of premium time. I think special offers are triggered by having little to no premium time. I was actually looking for a good deal for doubloons a few times, but there are none. Most of their 'deals' are the same offers again and again, most of them have been 'on sale' for a year. Meaning they are way too expensive, but they are trying to pretend as if we get a discount. So even if I am willing to spend money on the game, they don't make it attractive for me, and things like this, and the 'secret reward' earlier this year, well.. that certainly doesn't help. The lack of attention we get, not even a dedicated WoWs EU representative, which results in their people having to cover multiple games at once, despite the multi-lingual community on this server, is another sore point. This said with all due respect to the forum staff, I know they work hard and do their best, these are not their decisions, they just communicate what the higher-ups decide and get stuck in the middle. I also noticed Trainspite being attacked, despite him having said nothing that should cause offense, imho.. Supertesters are volunteers, who try to make sure we get decent ships, ships that work, they have no decision making power or anything, so our beef is not with them. TLDR: I am not amused by this, so for now, I will vote with my wallet. I really hope they get the message this time.

    London Port - feedback

In terms of historical accuracy, the point Kittakami jokingly makes is actually spot on. Anything larger than a cruiser would never have made it to that spot. And even HMS Belfast probably only made it without any fuel, ammunition or stores. While I like the port, at least for the holidays, I would think Scapa Flow, Portsmouth, the Firth of Forth or Spithead would make much more sense. The first and last ones especially. Scapa Flow was not only the base of the Home Fleet for a long time, but also home to at least some US capital ships in both World Wars, as well as to the Hochseeflotte after WW1. Indeed, some of those ships are still (partially) at the bottom of the Flow. Spithead was used for coronation fleet reviews, including the one for King George VI, during which Germany was represented by Admiral Graf Spee, France by Dunkerque, the Netherlands by HNLMS Java, Japan by Ashigara and the US by USS New York, so it would make some sense to have foreign warships there. Scapa Flow and Spithead are mostly bodies of water, so they might be relatively easy to create as well.
