Aircraft Carriers: Ship Replacement Rules - Discussion Thread
MrConway replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
We won't be selling them before we are happy that the balance is more or less set, so don't expect them with release of the CV rework. Stay tuned! Yes, you will get a full refund. -
Surveillance Radar, Interface improvement, Flooding
MrConway replied to MrConway's topic in Development Blog
Trust me when I say that we have extremely detailed data on what kind of damage is dealt by and to each ship-class. Our aim here is not to nerf DDs, but to make the flooding mechanic less of an all-or-nothing killer that is especially devastating to newer players. The information here is also still very preliminary and we will definitely make adjustments if we can see issues with the proposed values during testing. I will pass this on as feedback, personally I agree that more information is always better! Each radar has its own internal delay, so they cannot be chained to increase the total duration. Here you go! -
I updated the maximum dispersion values for some of the ships as they were incorrect. Correct is: Knyaz Suvorov, tier III 198 Gangut, tier IV 209 Pyotr Velikiy, tier V 223 Izmail, tier VI 228 Sinop, tier VII 237

I asked the guys to double-check and it seems you were right, some ships did not have the Gun Fire Control System upgraded, leading to an incorrect dispersion value. I've fixed them and here they are for reference: Knyaz Suvorov, tier III 198 Gangut, tier IV 209 Pyotr Velikiy, tier V 223 Izmail, tier VI 228 Sinop, tier VII 237 Vladivostok, tier VIII 252 Sovetsky Soyuz, tier IX 257

Aircraft Carriers: Ship Replacement Rules - Discussion Thread
MrConway replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I think "purchased" should have been "refunded" here, will fix! The associated XP refers only to XP you have sitting around on the CV if/when you decide to sell it, not to any XP spent on researching that CV. The XP is now also locked and it makes no difference which ship it is assigned to. From a technical perspective we cannot have a ship have XP if it is not researched. If you are 400 XP away from the next CV in the line I would recommend getting the 400 XP before the update hits. Regarding captains, if you opt to sell your CVs you can retrain the captains to another ship for free until February 8th. And yes, you do have to make that choice. We tried to provide as much choice as we can, but we cannot consider every possible use case. The option to sell CVs is intended for players who really dislike the new gameplay and want to play something else. If you just want to progress through the tiers again you can do that even if the ships are researched. If you have the CVs already I don't know why you would care what ship the extra XP is stored on, it needs to be converted to be useful in either case. -
Most definitely! :)

We prefer to have a more consistent and less RNG-dependent solution, that was one of the main reasons we made the BB-AP on DD changes. We will see how this change does in testing and then see how/if we proceed from there. -
Guys, you can now get all the devblog information right here on the forum if you haven't seen :) https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/forum/754-development-blog/

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
MrConway replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
We don't think this will have a critical impact on DD performance, especially as we are giving/have given DDs some indirect buffs alongside the flooding change. (No more plane-spotted torpedoes, radar changes, BBAP changes) That being said the values given are a work in progress and subject to testing.- we will make changes if needed. Finally I just want to say that from now on I would very much prefer if we discuss devblog posts in the new devblog section as it makes it easy for everyone to reference the content and concentrates the discussion there. -
Cross Realm Matchmaking for Clan Battles and Other Changes
MrConway replied to MrConway's topic in Development Blog
To a certain extent that is indeed necessary, its simply very tough to make assymmetrical maps that are equally fair to both teams. They have a small influence, but in competitive gameplay it is not as critical (unless there are abusable firing positions) as teams usually know the map and spawn they will play and can prepare strategies accordingly. We do however take action when we notice that one spawn has a distinct advantage in winrate over another one, but why not see if we can summon @Mimimissile to tell us more about why this change was made -

I'm glad you're enjoying it but unfortunately I cannot say anything about HMS Indomitable yet :/ -

Honestly, where else would we put it? And the XP can then be used to research the next higher CV if placed on the lower one. Fixed it! As for the premium CVs: We anticipate having to make more balance changes to all CVs including premium over the next few weeks and months. We would prefer to have them finalized before selling them to prevent any disappointment at potential changes. I cannot say, but there is a good chance. -
We will probably do a dedicated historical Q&A dedicated to the Soviet BBs closer to release, then we can talk in depth about where they come from. As for the dispersion, lets see how they perform in the wild first! :) That would make sense.

If you sell and "unresearch" the entire line, you should get back all of the XP formerly spent. -

So, any captain with the mentioned skills will be reset by us automatically with the update. BUT there is a week (until Feb 8th) of free retraining and respeccing for all captains following the update in addition. Thanks, fixing it now. -

Please read the article carefully! :) In addition there will be a week-long period of free captain retraining and respeccing following the update. This is not a typo, as the XP is not currently free it will not be freed up when selling the ship. Captains can be retrained to another ship for free in the week following the update if you want to avoid this. -
Damn, and here we thought we could get our secret plans for Russian BB domination implemented without anyone catching on. Let me ping devs that the game is up, I guess we'll have to buff sigma instead. This long-range radar (that Reddit has infuriatingly already branded "Deep Water Radar"), is experimental - we will have to see how it performs in testing. It does however open up some new gameplay opportunities and another very unique consumable, which I personally find very interesting.

Aircraft Carriers: How Best to Tune Them? - Discussion Thread
MrConway replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Yes! We know some people will want to move their captains to/from CVs and wanted to make this transition as painless, comfortable and fair as possible! -
Go to the notification settings directly, you can change it there.

I just checked and it seems that the design for the in-game Sovurov was made as part of the development efforts that lead to the construction of Gangut. The documents we have are from late 1907. If that helps :) And I am sure we can up that sigma in testing

I am also quite happy with it! :) Little teaser: There are five more devblog posts coming today, some of them with some very spicy announcements
