World of Warships: Legends. Course for Early Access
MrConway replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
I am not turning this into another CV rework discussion thread, there are many others to be found already. I am telling you that this is not the case, the games are already significantly different and if you look at Legends you will see that it does not even include CVs. While many assets will obviously be re-used, Legends is, and will be, a discrete and separate game with different gameplay from the PC version. -
Will do, but it was a bug as far as I know ! :) As for the Vampire the spread is working as intended - I would always use narrow anyway! I'll check about the refund period. As for the fighter deployment via the tac map, I disagree. FIghters are now strong enough that you could severely hamper most CV attacks too easily from across the map.

World of Warships: Legends. Course for Early Access
MrConway replied to The_EURL_Guy's topic in News & Announcements
Let me clarify this again, the CV rework is not connected to our upcoming Legends title at all. Legends is being developed by a different team in our studio and if we had wanted to develop a different CV gameplay for them we would have just gone and done that. We would not have implemented the CV rework on PC if we didn't think this was the right choice for this game. Legends is already quite different from regular World of Warships and definitely aimed at a console audience and new players on a different platform. It makes no sense to make changes to the PC version based on design decisions for the console version.- 20 replies

Captains, Please leave any feedback on the changes to radar mechanics here. Details on the changes can be found on our portal: https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/game-updates/flooding-and-radar-changes/

If you can reproduce this that is good news, please include steps to reproduce in your bug report!

Alright, but I don't think that is related to the fact that they are playing CVs :) I am talking averages, there will of course always be people that hide in the corner in A1 wondering why their horn is not inflicting damage on the enemy team.

I am not saying the the issue has been resolved, but that from what I have seen it has improved. Let me give a disclaimer that I am not a data, statistics or balancing expert. A big indicator to look at is the difference between the usual average performance of any given player and his performance in a particular ship. Making the skill gap less wide does not mean giving players a guarantee for good performance in a ship or class. It means ensuring that the progression of the average performance of players relative to their average performance in a particular ship is more or less linear. To give an example. If players with an average win rate of 60% have an average win rate of 70% in a ship and players with a win rate of 45% have a win rate of 35% in that ship, there is a skill gap. If players with an average win rate of 60% have an average win rate of 62% in a ship and players with a win rate of 45% have a win rate of 47% in that ship, there is not. Some classes and ships innately have more of a skill gap - destroyers for example suffer from quick deletions at the beginning of a battle and tend to have a higher skill floor which leads to players having worse than average results if they don't know what they are doing. Before the update carriers were the worst offenders here, following the update things look a lot better. CV economics are still subject to change and we are aware of the feedback that they can be quite financially punishing to play. I have no idea what any of those numbers mean, where there are from and what they are based on, they tell me literally nothing. If they belong to individual players they really have little value, as three players will never represent a statistically valuable sample size. This way of looking at the publicly available stats is definitely more robust than some of the other ideas I have seen in this thread where just the statistical outliers were looked at.

Thanks for the discussion, see you in the next thread.

Positive feedback is just as valuable and if you actually let us know what you do like it probably lends more weight to what you are saying when you do dislike something.
-
Ignoring the obvious issue with your statement that the CV gameplay was not made with console in mind, you are assuming that there is a massive skill gap. Having just looked at the data, I can safely say that this does not appear to be the case. Unsurprisingly good players continue to do well, but there is no crazy deviation from the stats where less-capable players suddenly become dead-weight.

Turning AA off will still be effective and CVs will still stray into your AA zone and take some damage. But the situation before this change where when you accidentally discovered a Minotaur or Worcester they just wiped your squadron was a bit silly. It is in fact not a global nerf. We just did a global buff for all ships for air detection range that had unintended consequences. Now there is a simple rule in place that you cannot have AA that shoots further than your maximum possible visibility. And again, as with most of the changes we are making this was based on major community feedback about just this issue. I can't even. And honestly, in my opinion this is fine. We said from the beginning we would be making adjustments, sometimes they need to be drastic to make sure you can find a good middle point. When you have a live game like World of Warships with a powerful and influential class like CVs, I would rather see them being a bit too weak for a while, rather than being frustrating to all other players for longer.

Don't worry, your collections of high-brow material are safe ;) Jokes aside it is important to have in-depth information about the system in question to be able to rule out causes of bugs. We don't collect any nefarious information.

Aircraft Carriers - Plans for the near future!
MrConway replied to MrConway's topic in Development Blog
I can't share the exact formula with you - and I don't have it right now. We might be able to share it once the change is actually implemented, but you can expect the statements I made to be applied in the formula that will be used. So there will be diminishing returns, but there will always be a benefit to having additional ships involved in any AA action. -
To quote from @Sub_Octavian's response on reddit about this topic: TL:DR - Don't put so much trust in data mining :)

Liquidator achievement - does it need a change?
MrConway replied to ForlornSailor's topic in General Discussion
The achievement will certainly be looked at when we have in-depth data about how the flooding rework has affected flooding damage overall. -
Guys, you misunderstand me :) I was pointing out that it cannot be connected to a server issue - not trying to blame you. The game runs well for most people, so there is probably a bug in our code that causes issues with your particular PC setup. This is why we need you to contact us so we can look at what in your system may be causing the issues.

Yamato vs Musashi fighter plane duration changed?
MrConway replied to NothingButTheRain's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the poke. We checked with the dev team and are currently looking into whether we want to adjust the time for Musashi to better reflect the difference prior to the rework. We'll let you know when we have a decision. -
Captains, Please leave any general feedback about update 0.8.1 here. Should your feedback concern one of the following topics, please leave it in the respective thread: Flooding Rework Radar Rework Port UI & Client Stability Improvements British CVs Arc & Collection Bug Reports As always you can find a run-down of the upcoming changes on our portal: https://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/public-test/bulletin-081/

Captains, We've encountered two issues with anti-air defense mechanics after the 0.8.0.1 hotfix: ∙ Large damage spikes from AA explosions in tier VIII and above (this is a bug, the damage should increase proportionally with tier); ∙ Continuous DPS on several ships/tiers needs further adjusting (mostly toning down slightly); We're already working on resolving both issues, but to avoid any new mistakes, we will be spending a couple of days double-checking everything and preparing a small update. We plan to release this hotfix early next week. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
