  1. Please remember that the smoke changes will prevent a lot of the feared camping and firing from smoke. Would they? One of the problems with carriers is that they effectively negate the visibility system we have in game, especially with the amount of planes and their speeds at tier X. They make destroyers' lives extremely hard there. Lets see how it affects the new mode first!

I am a company representative, if you want to hear my personal opinion the forums are the wrong place for this, come buy me a beer These are all options we can look into for future seasons and might be a good idea, we will see. As you should have seen from ranked battles, we are not afraid of making changes to formats. You can't really knock us for accessibility when we are giving our dedicated CV players the pick of 3 other ships in case they do not have another tier X. As for the reasons behind making the teams smaller it is as I said, but I will try to get more in-depth information for you tomorrow. Blame the Threadnought ;) We'll try to expand on this tomorrow. This is something I also suggested, we will see what kind of information we can share with you guys, stay tuned.
  3. While I like your idea of having different formats and leagues, there is no way that such an amount is feasible. It is however something to keep in mind, thanks. Having talked to my Russian colleagues, this doesn't seem to be the case. The community actually seems to be quite split on whether it is a good idea or not. One thing we definitely didn't do is rush this decision. The dev team has been considering the competitive aspects of the game for a while and the tests that we conducted were quite comprehensive. They involved around 24 clans, mostly from NA and EU, that is more than 300 of the top players from all regions. What we cannot do is quickly rework ships classes and other aspects of the game to fit the competitive mode, so we needed to fit the competitive mode to the game in its current state. We're also not making this a money grab. We have heard your concerns regarding captain skills and equipment and the dev team is currently looking into options to enable you to switch without having to pay a bunch of doubloons every time you want to play a different game mode. In other news: I just had a chat with @Ev1n just now and we will try to put out an extended FAQ tomorrow addressing the concerns that many of you have voiced here and explaining some of our reasoning behind the decisions.
  4. As I personally picked the clans participating for EU, I can assure you that all of them were clans with considerable success and experience in competitive play. Opinions among these clans were split, so it is not as cut and dried as you seem to thinl. Our devs are also in contact with our tournament organizers and requested feedback from them specifically for this reason. We really did not go into this blind. But what fits for tournaments that only the top clans participate in doesn't necessarily make for the best in-game clan mode. MrConway did in fact not say that :) Clans are allowed to confirm that they participated, but they are not allowed to discuss the tests themselves. Its not the same as letting a player loose on a random battle with a tier X ship, as it is a team mode it is not just about every player's experience and performance, but the teamplay and coordination involved. We are hoping that these rental ships will let players test out clan battles and then get their own ships for the next season. The ELO rating also means that teams with less experience will face similar teams so it should not turn into sealclubbing.

We want to keep the mode more accessible even to smaller clans that cannot consistently field larger teams, we also feel that the 7v7 battles are more dynamic and allow for a greater amount of personal skill to be relevant. The tournaments we have run so far have all been community driven with the rules also being formulated by the community. What format we run future tournaments in has not been decided yet but will ultimately by up to the organizers and not us. The issue is that the teams behave very differently in organized competitive battles versus random battles, which is why we felt that the restrictions were necessary for good gameplay in the mode. What is balanced in random battles, might not necessarily be in clan battles. I will look into it and let you know! It is a general practice with these kind of supertests to have the information under NDA, this lets us share a lot more information with the participants and also lets us test a variety of different options and setups. Will the smoke nerf come be implemented before the start of the Clan Wars? Lets call it a re-balance, but yes. Will we be able to earn flags like normal or will feature be removed like in Team Battles? They should be obtainable, but I will get confirmation for you.
  6. Apart from the CV's and BB's we have not implemented any restrictions on the ship-type, so please DO experiment and let us know what happens. All of these restrictions are subject to change based on feedback and statistics from the first season.
  7. Clan battles will be going live in the current form. While I do sympathize with your situation, all is not lost. CV's might have a place in clan battles in future and you can still use them in random battles in the meantime. We're not happy that we have to exclude carrier players from playing their favourite ship class in this mode and will be looking into changing this in future. As to the clans that participated in the tests, they are free to come forward and say so themselves if they wish. Any discussion of the tests themselves is however prohibited.
  8. We realize that the situation is not ideal, as previously mentioned this was not an easy decision. Once we are happy with the state of aircraft carriers and they way they are used in competitive play we might reintroduce them. For now please actually go play the mode and let us know what you think!
  9. Out of all the comments in this thread, you have the most reasoned attitude! Almost nobody in this thread has actually tested the new clan battle format and can't possibly know what the effect of it is. :) While we are not calling it a test-phase as such, we are definitely intending to make modifications to the mode based on the feedback and results from the first season, in particular when it comes to the ship composition. Believe me when I say that there were many debates on how to finally implement our clan battles. We collected a lot of feedback and did a lot of focused testing with clans from all regions. The clans that we did involve and ask were not able to come to a clear consensus regarding many of the aspects, so we made the decisions that we think will provide the most dynamic and engaging clan battles. We may well be wrong, but we do ask that you actually go play the mode and give us your feedback after having actually played it. With the ship restrictions and upcoming smoke changes the meta for clan battles is going to be very different from all our other game modes, lets see how it goes!

    We're currently working on a very comprehensive and cool replay system that should enable you to go back and view old battle results. Please be aware that this will still take a bit of time™ But we agree that this would be an improvement to the game! :)

  13. This is something we are indeed painfully aware of ;) As mentioned, we've already gone back and redone the rigging for many ships and we will do the same for the models and textures eventually. But as this will take a lot of man-hours to do, we'd rather focus on rolling out more new ships (premium and non-premium) as we know that you guys want more content more than better models. When and how we will address this has not yet been decided.

    I found the trick is to know when to disengage, then run to safety and heal up. As long as you are careful with your angles and don't take on tier IX ships head on, the ships is very tanky indeed. You might just have had an unlucky first row of games, that does happen. Keep at it!

    Its a commemorative item that commemorates the implementation of containers into the game, not a notification that there is a parcel waiting ;) That being said, you should have received a reward for it anyway.

    I'm sorry to hear that you did not receive the support you would have wanted. Unfortunately it can be very challenging to deal with technical issues as there are so many different factors that might influence the actual issue at hand. After having chatted to support and reviewed your ticket, I would advise trying the following steps: Reinstall your NVidia drivers Uninstall AVIRA antivirus Try again! If this does not help please re-open the ticket and report on the result of these steps. While this is not something support advocates due to the amount of time and effort involved, I personally think that any PC benefits from an occasional wipe and clean Windows installation, which in my experience resolves almost any issues :) I have passed your feedback on your ticket on.

    Final update: We have had a handful of reports from players suffering the "stuck in division" bug, so we will perform a hard-restart of the server tomorrow morning to clear up any remaining problems. We will give you an update regarding potential compensation, for those who cannot play for the rest of today, on Monday.
