Ok so I tested the new CV Gameplay with all 4 of the carriers and tier 10 BB's DD's and CA's. Let's start with the feeling. First i like the visuals of the flak and the planes flying, but the airplanes seem to be a bit to unresponsiv, also having just one squadron of planes in the air feels weird, not beeing able to jump back to my ship without sending the whole squadron back adds to a certain feeling: I don't feel like playing a carrier, i feel like playing a squadron of planes and for alot of games it wouldn't matter if i started of a nearby Airfield. Now to the more mechanical Part, first I like the 3 different Types of planes and I like that you can't "abuse" Fighters for spotting anymore, however I feel like the new fighters border on utterly irrellevant and I've seen that you can pretty much snipe out any single ship that you'd like to except for maybe destroyers, wich is a huge issue if you realize a very good player on the oponent Team. Also I realized if trying to get through heavy AA switching into attackrun mode allows you to dodge of AA Fire. This mechanic can and will be abused. Also not beeing able to switch between ship and planes without sending the planes back makes it really hard to effectively try to dodge torpdrops or survive long against any DD by any means. It also makes the damage control consumeable highly uneffective. From a non CV ship Point of view I have 2 Major Issues, First rearranging the flak to either side seems to have next to no effect at least on montana Zao and Shimekaze. Second it takes longer tthan the planes need to get from one side of you to the other so it is too slow to keep up with the planes changing directions, wich led to me not caring anymore. Another thing is, as long as your in a DD most CV's either don't try to attack you or miss with whatever they shoot you with and yes I also got missed alot by rockets. Another thing is with current damage capabilitys you get killed by a single squadron either as CA or BB if a CV trys to. Also one of my main Problems with the rework is that you don't get any reliable flakdamage. So there is no way to reliably defend against a Carrier anymore, it's a mixture of Luck and the CV's Skill to dodge flak fire. A good CV player even can annihilate multiple ships with a single squadron. Ok so back to the CV's. Let's talk about spotting. first of, yes you can spot with your planes, but it is really hard to fly and at the same time see wether your team can actually shoot at what your spotting while dodging the AA Fire. Overall besides my personal preference (I liked the RTS way and I think it was very well salvageable and easier than producing this re-release of CV's), I think the following are major Issues: dodging heavy AA by going int drop mode. Rearranging the flak takes to long at doesn't feel like it changes anything. Having to send back the Planes to use your ships consumeables or manually control them.
