The title says it all...
What are good strategies for playing the Omaha? My current experience with this ship is as follows:
It is a scout cruiser with non existent armor, and a cardboard steering gear. Its guns are ok (but whit terrible range), however they fire in an extreme arc which make attacking distant targets (cruisers) with AP difficult (fine for using HE though). At close distance AP works very well and scoring citadel hits is easy - but its also easy for the enemy to citadel you.
The Omaha has the advantage of 5 forward facing guns, which allow for constant firing without exposing the giant citadel under the smokestacks. However, I always receive crits from other Omahas even when I'm attacking head on and they are showing me their broadsides. It is so bad that even if I am scoring six or so citadel hits on the enemy I still get outdamaged. I also tried angling the ship but that also never works.
So far my experience with the Omaha and the Phoenix has been one of constant disappointment. It seems impossible to get consistent scores in these ships. I didn't have this problem with any ship before. It's either all (leading the scoreboard) or nothing (dying instantly). The only thing this ship seems usefull for is killing Kumas, Tenryus and Chikumas.
Any tips?
