Premium Difference between EU/NA? + CV Premium?
Mayv replied to Tallens's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to see a DD in the premium shop. The Sims and Gremeashy were both preorder ships and the Tachibana was only available with PCGamer magazine. -
DBs can denote ships. Happened to me in my Fubuki a few days ago about 2mins into the game Choosing your own loadout sounds like a return to the IJN strike loadouts, which were totally balanced.

Wait you mean this topic http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/30437-why-are-cvs-overperforming-on-eu-only/page__p__543026#entry543026 was wrong? And it really was due to the Tirpitz? Sharana, on 14 September 2015 - 09:54 PM, said: For me there can be few reasons for this numbers: 1) The best CV captains play on EU 2) Only scrubs play CVs on the other servers 3) The avarage Joe on EU is complete scrub and is easily farmed by CVs 4) EU players are the most egoistic ones and teamplay is banned word so CVs have easier time
-
Sure it due to the influx of Tirpitz'? Not that NA CV captains are simply better than those on EU? Or maybe the average NA player is a complete scrub and cannot dodge CV torpedoes?

I think the problem with high tiers is that WG are trying to force CAs and DDs into a support role. They want CAs to protect BBs from air attacks and deter DDs. They want DDs to provide area denial with torpedoes, a bit of spotting, and capping. None of which provide a decent amount of xp atm, if any at all. CVs and BBs are the only two classes that have a constant increase in power, as you climb the tech tree. DDs get bigger, less stealthy, less manueverable, and some of them slower. Torpedoes reloads become longer with an increase in range from which they are spotted. CAs don't see an increase in gun performance and BB AA increases to which it is at a level greater than CAs. Leaving CAs to provide the defensive fire cooldown only.

I dont see secondaries being buffed with the current game design. Look at the Kongo for example it has a secondary armament of 14 152mm guns and 4x2 127mm guns. She has a greater broadside with her secondaries than the Kuma (7 140mm guns, max 6 on a target) which is one tier lower. The Omaha at tier 5 has 12 155mm guns at most, and can only use a max of 8 at a time.
-
OK let's say WG remove the spotting system from the game. BBs CAs and DDs ( maybe CVs too) are always spotted (or from 10-15km maybe). So what else should they change? Accuracy for all classes would be reduced to give the squishier classes a chance to survive. Torpedo warnings would have to be removed along with reduced torpedo detection ranges, and possibly planes cannot spot torpedoes. You can't use the excuse of invisible destroyers anymore now. Tips for playing destroyers? Your Isokaze has a base detectability range of 6.1km, this can be reduced with camo and captain skills. Your torpedoes have a range of 7km. To fire torpedoes between these two distances to luanch from stealth. Avoid firing your guns as this will increase your detectability range by 4km, to 10.1km with a stock ship. USN DDs cannot stealth torpedo until t8. They rely on their guns for damage. Torpedoes should be used in ambushes (ships that sail close to islands) and in suicide rushes against BBs.

Battleships are the second best class stats wise at the moment only behind carriers. They don't need any buffs.
-
So IJN have torps and concealment, USN have AA , and SN have guns and speed.

Statistics galore - State of WoWS (weekly update)

The only DD post t5 that seems to be doing 'exceptionally better' is the Shimakaze, the Kagero and Gearing also see an improvement. -
Iron_Gekko, on 22 September 2015 - 07:49 AM, said: I Disagree, if a DD has a CV in range and peppers him with HE, then it's just pure gold. If I see a DD closing in on my nemesis CV, I always provide as much air cover as possible as a CV blazing merrily will never be able to launch anything, thus completely neglecting it's offensive arm. So no, DD's please keep on rocking. Well if I ever go CV hunting again I hope a CV captain like you will be on my team. The problem with opening fire is that it will reveal your position earlier and CVs are the class with the second highest amount of hitpoints, its going to take a fair amount of time to destroy a CV with your guns only. I agree that lower tier CVs arent as much of a problem. Though this, I think, is more so due to player inexperience (hiding a CV behind an island) and the smaller map sizes. IJN DDs also get slower from t5-9 (USN DDs jump up and down) while CVs get faster. DD guns also dont get any better from t7 for IJN and t5 for USN besides a rate of fire increase on both t10s.
-
Dont bother casing a CV as a DD. You wont get in torpedo range unless they are stationary behind an island or moving towards you. Opening fire will probably get you spotted and from then till death you will be under wave after wave of attack from DB and TB. Its not worth trying to sink a CV as a DD.

There is some really great BB players out there
Mayv replied to Syrchalis's topic in General Discussion
There is my problem with CVs. Midway captain said this at the start of the game and destroyed a Benson and Shimakaze (and possibly the other, wasnt able to follow death messages all game and no replay.). The CVs self proclaimed counter eliminated early on with no chance of retaliation. Yes the CV captain probably has skill and no, Im not saying CVs are easy mode since I dont play them. In many players eyes CVs will never be properly balanced. CVs share the same problems as Artillery in WoT. Yes you can reduce the amount of damage taken by a CV attack but CVs are very consistent in their ability to take out ships of any class. Currently I see CVs as the only counter to CVs. Whether its due to one running a fighter setup or one zerg rushes the other at the start of the game. CVs can influence the battle like no other class. The only thing they cant really do is cap. What would I change about CVs? I dont know to be honest. As a non-CV player (no interest in the RTS style gameplay) what I suggest could possibly neuter CVs entirely. -
Enabling Replays will be implemented during release?
Mayv replied to Kokos78's topic in General Discussion
Patch is already live no sign of replays on options menu -
Your detection range is increased by 4km for 20s after firing. Therefore entering detection range within those 20s you will be spotted. Working as intended.
-
C doesnt change launchers. tried it as soon as I saw this thread. I have a feeling the Mahan is possibly the only DD with this problem
-
The game isnt too far off for torpedo reloads for the IJN DDs really. For a quadruple launcher the ideal reload time was 3mins with equipment or 5mins by hand. The Kagero, only IJN DD currently ingame with quadruple launchers, has a reload time of two mins. But anyway gameplay>realism.

I use the 15km torps, top guns and the B hull on my Fubuki for more guns, I dont think the AA increase is worth it. Use camo and the concealment upgrade for a detection range of 6.1km The skill on my captain are situation awareness, reduced torp reload, superintendent and advanced firing training. I mostly play 8-12km from the enemy ships. Launch torps at BBs mainly at 8-10km and can fire from beyond detection range past 10km. I will engage any IJN DD (except a full HP shimakaze) and some USN DDs (damaged ones mostly) and usually come out on top due to the 6 guns on the B hull. Only cap undefended points as you are slow for a DD. Do not hold a flank on your own as you struggle to outrun CAs and some BBs. Dont over commit to a flank and keep an eye on the minimap avoid getting caught out. Try to avoid enemy planes and return to you allies as quickly as possible if being harassed by an enemy CV. Ive enjoyed my time playing the Fubuki and I am keeping it as I save up credits to buy the Kagero. I have an average damage of 41k and my best is 179k.

As others have suggested this could be due to the influx of Tirpitz players in the higher tiers here on EU. Take this with a pinch of salt but from my experience of playing my Fubuki some Tirpitz players have clearly played no games in regular high tier BBs. Yesterday I launched a spread of 9 trops from about 10km away at a Tirpitz. 30s later the Tirpitz is still on course to eat the torps but there is a Cleveland about 600m closer to the torps. The Cleveland spots the torps when they are 2km out from him turns and takes one on his bow. The Tirpitz makes no changes to his course (to my joy) eats 6 of the remaining torps board side on, despite the Cleveland spotting them even further out than normal, and sinks. The Tirpitz captain then claims in chat that Im using some kind of mod. Other times I have had Tirpitz captains dodge spread after spread of torps only taking a hit from 1 at most, making me pull my hair out in frustration. So with the Tirpitzs lack of AA compared to other T8 BBs how do you think some players are going to fare against a CV attack if they cannot dodge torps from a DD?

Why am I being spotted at 6/7/8km in a mutsuki.
Mayv replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
Do you have any camo on your Mutsuki? Her default detection range is 6.2km, I have a detection range of 6.1km without the the captain skill. Other Minekazes or Mutsukis would have lower if they have the skill. Didn't see that in the patch notes will have to check that in game. -

It does like the engine boost it increases your detection range by 200-300m -
Destroyers - is 'smoking' it up a selfish habit?
Mayv replied to Shaka_D's topic in General Discussion
Mostly only use smoke for my own defense. I won't go out of my way to lay smoke for allies due to the long reload time on it. However if there is a BB or CV nearby taking fire and TRYING to get to cover I will then lay smoke to assist their escape. Otherwise it is pointless you are using something that could save yourself for the benefit of someone else that may be of questional value to the team for no direct reward. -
Humbug do you dislike islands or not??? You start this topic saying there are to many and yet you hate ocean a map which lacks islands. So what do you actually want?
-
First get the 10km torps as quick as possible. The 6km ones are now even more useless after the detection range nerf. Try to stay about 7-8km from the enemy ships and launch torps at targets you expect will go straight and are mostly broadside on to you. You cannot play as aggressively as in the preceding ships. Try not to isolate yourself from your teammates, unless necessary Mutsukis guns are terrible but have received a traverse speed buff, dont use them unless knife fighting with enemy DDs. Once fully upgraded she has quite good AA for her tier and can provide some half decent AA support so dont be afraid to light up the enemy planes. Overall just play less aggressively.

Why do I have to use my BB to go Destroyer hunting? Help pls!
Mayv replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Bad players that are afraid of taking damage. They make bad decisions in one game and die quickly. They then become afraid of pushing and aggressive play.
