0.3km isnt much. I will say that it has much stronger mid range AA. But killing planes from stealth is reliant on your long range AA DPS, Akizuki has ~36 less and is 2 tiers lower. Having DF also gives Grozovoi a nice boost. DF on Akizuki when? I would argue that those skills are unnecessary for Akizuki. Even with IFHE your AP does more damage to broadside targets which makes DE a worse pick. Leaving IFHE only useful against angled DD hulls and angled BB superstructures.

The problem for larger calibre guns is that the pen increase doesnt allow them to pen new armour plates. To then make this skill viable for all ships would require increasing the penetration bonus even more. I am sure the game will benefit from everything firing HE at everything.- 113 replies

If the problem is about killing planes from stealth does Akizuki get a pass because she doesnt have DF? She is a ship that would want to take BFT and AFT.

It doesnt favour DDs as you can spend the whole game denying caps, area denial torpedoes and laying smoke for allies, you will finish near the bottom as you have been occupied with supporting your team rather than killing. You can spin that argument in favour of any class. -

I do it currently on the Fletcher and Gearing. Speed boost is one of the least useful consumables in my opinion. Its impact is so low. When there is a CV in game having DF is invaluable to a DD. The tines it has saved me makes up for the games were it has no use other than shooting down catapult fighters.

That is the point I am trying to make. DDs are only mirrored when they are top tier. Otherwise there can be a max difference of 1 between the teams. There isn't a rule for it. CVs are always mirrored. BBs are mirrored when they are top tier or mid tier. CAs and DDs are only mirrored when they are top tier. In OPs example only tier 7 DDs would be mirrored. Since there is none MM only follows the difference of 1 between the teams. The same in my example. The tier 8 CAs are not mirrored despite being the highest tier in the game because it is a tier 9 game and therefore they are not top tier. The same applies to the DDs. Maybe these are the more relevant parts of the patch notes.

No. If the highest tier DDs and CAs in a game, but not top tier, are mirrored, this game should have been impossible. This is a Tier 9 game. Top tier (tier 9) BBs are mirrored - 3 (Izumo, Izumo, Izumo) vs 3 (Izumo, Izumo, Fred) Mid tier (tier 8) BBs are mirroreed - 1 (Bismarck) vs 1 (Bismarck) Bottom tier (tier 7) BBs - 1 (Gneis) vs 1 (Gneis) Total BBs - 5 vs 5 (difference of 1 or less) There are no top tier (tier 9) CAs. Top tier as in a tier 8 DD in a tier 8 battle. The Farragut in the game posted is in a tier 7 battle making it mid tier.

Only top tier DDs are mirrored. Mid and Bottom tiered have a max difference of 1.

Nearly all DDs with dual purpose guns can do this already, but most dont have enough AA to bother speccing them this way. Akizuki being the exception currently (5.0km Air Detection, 7.2km AA range). But notably doesnt have DF, despite being a purpose built AA DD, also a joke that they are giving it to these new RU DDs.

Which DDs are you playing? The strategy changes by quite a bit depending on your ship.

Having games where players are of equal skill would probably lead to more one sided games. The team that loses a player first would be at a massive disadvantage. Players should be able to hold their own against 1 opponent of equal skill. When one team loses a player this would give the other team a 2v1. This can then snowball giving a result of 12v2 ships sunk. Games where they come down to the wire with only a few ships left on each team are because there is a greater difference in player skill. A good player would be able to go 2v1 or maybe even 3v1 against poorer players. Stopping a team from snowballing. This style of skill based match making was tried in Armoured Warfare (tank game similar to WoT). And doesnt seem to be too popular over there. It is a system that punishes good players and rewards those like your Fujin player. Maybe I have this wrong, but you can look through the armoured warfare forums to form your own opinion.

Maybe it shows that there are some problems with the mode if you have to offer blatantly over powered ships to encourage people to play it. -
DDs will probably be a lot more cautious this ranked season anyway if the forecasted amount of Belfasts show up.

Mostly use it on RU DDs. Making them great DD hunters.

Dont spend much time shooting at BBs except for setting fires in most games. IFHE would probably be more of a negative for how I play it.

On my Z-23 (150mm guns), with 15 points I am running: PM LS, EM SI, DE CE Havent yet decided on the last 4 points. With the Z-23 I focus on DoT. The high fire chance of the 150s allows you to more reliably, compared to other DDs, set fires on ships after forcing their damage con on flooding.

IFHE bring the 21mm of pen to 27mm. On higher tier USN DDs it does not allow you to pen any new armour plates. On mid tiers it allows you to pen some parts of BBs, such as their and stern. But I believe other skills are a better choice.

Yes, it is. Even better when AA specced. 200+ AA DPS at 7.2km. I quite like seeing CVs on the enemy team when playing it. ^Those are mostly Essex planes btw.
