You should be able to invisifire at those ranges. The detected icon shouldnt be showing. Where are you testing it? If in is in random battles a stealth CA or DD might be in range. I havent experienced this problem

If it was just the one torpedo that hit it was most likely a detonation. This is where one of your magazines takes damage and explodes, destroying your ship. Shells can also cause detonations.

A few more things to that I have found out since. The F3 torpedoes detection range is actually 1.9km, although its speed and short range will make them hard to dodge. They have a reload time of 131s compare to the type 93 reload of 153s on the Shimakaze. So the F3 torpedoes will be deadly, the problem (especially since people are comparing this to the Minekazes loss of 10km torpedoes) is that these torpedoes will become more situational. Getting within 8km of BBs is more dangerous at high tiers thanks to radar and the abundance of catapult fighters. The Shimakaze is also no very maneuverable with a turning circle of 690m and bleeds a lot of speed in turns. The type93 mod 3 look to still be in a usable state but torpedo acceleration might be necessary bring your range down to 9.6km.

I have seen a lot of dislike for the Gearing here on the forums and other places, but after purchasing mine yesterday I cant say I understand where the negativity comes from. From the few battles I have played in the Gearing so far I have enjoyed them and I was doing well. I prefer it to the Shimakaze. The stock torpedoes on the Fletcher pale in comparison to the top ones, but they can get the job done if you launch a bit closer. Although in future you should save your free xp for unlocking modules on ships, rather than the ships themselves. The lose of turrets should be helped next patch as they are getting a HP buff from 1500 to 4000. More than double what they currently have.

Talking about the Shimakaze and Kagero getting the 76knot torpedoes most likely. Can go 81knots with torpedo acceleration but will have a range of 6.4km.

Seen t3h3th32 (is that it?) in a game today. He was playing his Zao, didnt respond after I said hi. We ended up winning that match. -
Yes torpedoes received buffs, but everyone seems to forget that vigilance and target acquisition module where buffed as well to counter act the stealth buff and increased speed from torpedo acceleration. The only real change was the slightly reduced rudder shift time.

They have no plans to add it. Leveling up a captain is much quicker in WoWS in comparison to WoT.

Well that's random battles for you. They are random. Besides if you want competitive play team battles is what you are looking for. Isn't LoL known for its toxicity despite having skill based MM? -

Are we talking skill based MM here or reducing the +2 tier spread? Skill based MM wont be introduced to random battles, which WG have said multiple times. The +2 tier spread isnt as much of an issue in this game compared to WoT (which still has it after many years) so it is unlikely that we will see that either.

Yes it does. 45% increase in spotting range with both.

Are you sure all your tubes are reloaded? Cant say I have run into a bug like this a replay would be helpful if you have one.
