90 vs 115, off the top of my head.
-
It is 1133 more damage vs 6km more range. Inside 10.5km the Fletcher is better, but the low detection range of the USN torpedoes allows the Gearing to hit targets that are further out.

I hear the Mikasa is up there too.

Only bad thing about the new sinking animations.

Tachibana has the best rating.

Definitely noticing it now. There is no blinking when a DD is laying smoke and moving. -

That sounds like a description of WoT sixth sense skill. -

What does that make you then, the anti-DD mafia? You have gone on for 20 pages in multiple other threads stating the same thing over and over no matter what the other person tries to argue. I have stated my reasons why I think this a nerf and a poor change. I will leave it at that since I am not going to get any further talking with you. -

You are wasting your time talking to ghostbuster about this. -

They are already planning on buffing high tier USN BB accuracy, which should be a representation of this. -
DD: Do big dmg but maybe lose the game?
Mayv replied to SinkTheOthersNotMe's topic in General Discussion
For a DD to do a lot of damage the games have to be long (and the DD to survive) usually. For it to be a long game the teams have to be closely matched. When teams are closely matched, it might not be doing damage that will give your team victory. My highest damage game, 200k in the Fletcher, was me holding a flank and slowing down the enemies advance, with little support. That game was a loss. I had 2 games in the Gearing, both around 140k damage with 5 kills. One was a win and one was a loss. There are times when to win a game it is better to go cap a point, defend a point, screen for enemy DDs, which dont give you much damage but can be crucial for a win. Seeing a flank break down and returning to defend your own base is something that falls to the DDs of a team usually since they are the fastest ship. The time spent sailing back and finishing off a half health DD might only give you a few thousand damage but doing so gives your team the win by preventing their DD from capping. -
And people really wonder why high tier games are not popular?

I prefer high tier games, but maybe I am the weird one. THD does. -

Where is this idea that if you dont like the changes you must be a 20km torpedo spammer and therefore a bad player coming from? If you are a good player you know that there are times when launching torpedoes at <8km is a bad idea. There are also games where it is near impossible to get that close in the first place (sometimes the enemy team plays well or CV planes or the enemy BBs are far behind the front lines and/or running away). I have experienced these problems on the Fletcher with 10.5km torpedoes. -
Could be. WoT had a Fury edition premium Easy8 when it released.

My favourite was first hit, no damage 1-2 turrets destroyed.

Sometime after they start I guess.

These posts are always amusing to read. So I might as well throw out my opinion on this one. The Shimakaze was never that good of a ship. It was and still is a one trick pony. The Shimakaze received its changes to try and promote/force a more aggressive game style. Overall I think it is a nerf but a situational buff. The 20/15km range never stopped you from using the torpedoes at targets 8km away before and 67knots is still fast (and you could use TA). But in other situations (CV in game, enemy DDs screening, enemy team is pushing) you had the option of launching your torpedoes from further away, even though the chances of hitting went down. Now with the 8km torpedoes (or 6.4km if you are stuck with TA) are better at those ranges, however they lack the more flexible use of the longer range ones. The Gearing and Fletcher have a similar situation. The Fletcher has 10.5km, 20k damage, 66knots torpedoes. The Gearing has 16.5km, 18km damage, 66knots torpedos. Inside 10.5km the Fletcher torpedoes are superior, but there are times the extra 6km on the Gearing gives you the opportunity to hit a ship you couldnt with the Fletcher. (And maybe its is just the players I have run into but the number of hits you get at long range is surprising.) Along with higher HP pools I think this is one of the reasons the Gearing has a higher average damage than the Fletcher. You can say it will turn out like the Minekaze, but I expect the Shimakazes average damage to drop. The argument brought up that the Shimakaze has a low average damage, I wonder how true that is. Yes there would be more bad players playing it, but shouldnt there be also more average and good players playing it as well? Unless you have gone true all those players account and have found that 50% of the players are bad, 30% are average and 20% are good. I fail to see why it should be assumed that only bad players play the Shimakaze. But anyway I wont be playing my Shimakaze because ships like the Fletcher and Gearing are better (well at least for me). This change makes me wonder what I would get by playing the Shimaze over the Gearing in each match. Maybe I am blind but the Gearing seems to offer the best all round capabilities as a tier 10 DD. -
But the torpedo spammers have been nerfed! Who is there left to spam torpedoes at the poor enemy ships?!
