In a Mahan-class destroyer, 300 rounds per gun http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNUS_5-38_mk12.htm
-
It has nothing to do with 155mm. It has to do with gun range, which, in case you don't know, includes the 203mm. Now you can go back to your cave.

Exactly. And the same for the range buff of Mogami: barely improves it.

Despite the sound the game makes when activated, I'd say that Hydroacoustic search is more based in hydrophones (passive method) than sonar (active pinging). Hydrophones detects sounds in the water, like the screws of ships and torpedoes, so I think it's more or less OK. I agree that it shouldn't be accurate enough to give the perfect position of the sounds (actually, probably only a bearing) or detect through islands, but I consider it OK for an arcade game.

My Mogami is rusting in port, and will be until is really fixed.

Invisible DDs are really ruining the entire game!

The mechanic of ships firing their guns from invisibility due to distance is stupid. Just like many other stupid options the prgrammers decided when created this game. -
Who's the whiner now?

1st mission or 1st stage of a mission? 1st mission gives you 2 Kongos+2 captains. The first stage of the mission only gets you the captain, you need the 2nd stage to get the ship. 3rd stage gives you the second captain, and the final part has another ship as award.

AA is a minor problem in Yubari.

I got mine yesterday, and it all worked fine.

ARP Hiei 16 points captain, but already have one
JapLance replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
So at least one of them takes a free slot in your captain reserve... What if your reserve is already full? -
Today I've played Mogami for the first time since the changes in the captain skills. Tried my best to make the 155mm work (captain skill+turret update), but it's impossible to use. Had to change to the 203mm, which makes it a bad Myoko at tier 8. They've turned a good cruiser (which should have been the model of competitiveness for all tier 8 cruisers) into an unremarkable ship. Screw you WarGaming.

With and without bundled items https://eu.wargaming.net/shop/wows/specials/2951/ For 37.60€ and 59.99€. Quite a decent offer, if you ask me.

I'm using Myoko for the 16-point ARP captain mission, and I'm loving it. I moved along to the Mogami fast after finishing with it, and didn't use it again, but now that Mogami has been nerfed to death I thought it would be a good idea to switch back to Myoko. I did the grind with the main battery accuracy update, and didn't quite like the turret turn rate, so now I ditched it and chose the update to the turret turn. 1 second added to gun reload is a good trade-off, in my opinion, and Myoko guns are good enough as to not suffer without the accuracy update. And an extra benefit is that when I'm sunk too early in the battle, I can switch to the ARP Myoko and play again without having to change anything in aiming.

Ignore Manual AA fire. It makes no difference in the New Mexico. I sacrificed my 5th level skill to test it and got absolutely disappointed. Guess that 8x5in DP guns are not enough to take profit of this skill and you need North Carolina and higher with 20 DP guns to make it worth it. As _Kyoshi says, increasing your small AA guns range with AFT will probably be a better decision. You don't usually shoot HE to take profit of the increased fire % skill. As you pointed out, maybe it's better to take multiple tier 3 skills: vigilance, superintendent or the reparation one (can't remember the name right now). They seem more suitable for Battleships.
-
After having played North Carolina for like +100 battles I've had the same sensation. Now that I just finished the grind I've noticed Iowa has the same dispersion as NC, and I've had enough of that, so no more US battleships for me. I'll probably sell NC and buy the Colorado again. I'll have to retrain the captain, but I'll probably have more fun than the boring tier X battles.

There is something fishy going on with BB AP "damage rolls" ...
JapLance replied to havaduck's topic in General Discussion
Penetrations? All I get from the guns of either Nagato and North Carolina are mostly overpenetrations with minimal damage or (very rarely) citadels every time I aim at a cruiser. I'd be seriously contemplating firing only HE if it wasn't that I decided to completely give up Battleships for a long time. -
When TASM was only an increase in the range the ships are rendered, it was not really worth it. Fortunately, I didn't buy the concealment upgrade neither (I considered 2M credits was too expensive for a minor benefit in a BB), so when TASM was changed to also give better torpedo detection I could mount it without burning a lot of credits. I think it's a much better option now.

This may be one of the causes at highest tiers. But what I'm pointing out also happens at lower tiers, which I play. And these levels have no problems with economy.

The March Wallpaper is the HMS Campbeltown....
JapLance replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
But then it would make no sense as "St Nazaire Raid commemorative ship". They could give it any other name. -
Cruisers refuse to screen, destroyers refuse to spot, battleships shoot from the next map, carriers tend to ignore destroyer spotting... This is the general state of player base right now.

Of course I'm talking about Campbeltown in the raid. What would be the point of having a premium Wickes just like any other? -

Not even that. 1x76mm gun and a few 20mm, with no torpedo tubes, wouldn't qualify for tier 1. -
Haruna captain, not the ship.

I like the missions to get the ship. And rewarding a 16-point captain is a great idea, but I don't like the T7+ obligation.
