    Italian Battleships: What to expect

i dont care how will they perform as long as wg wont spoil their beauty

yeah. maybe there will be gneisenau/scharnhorst precedent applied - what-if in techtree and real one as premium

    Admiral Graf Spee- premium T6?

do not forget that even Scharnhorsts and Bismarcks were also primarily designed to hunt down merchants and not to face RN battleships. also the concept of battleship was rather different after ww1 than before it. there was a big focus on speed and operational radius with pretty much all designes after 1925 (Nelson class is the only exception) so battleships took the roles for which were battlecruisers intended before and panzerships were not "just cruisers". the intentions behind the project were simply more than build regular cruiser. 283mm were nothing to sniff at and at least forced RN to tie lot of their forces for the convoy escort...but yeah. it was proved that when found, their survivability is not great germans believed in their panzerschiffe concept (at first at least) so there was another class of them projected called P-class with also 6x283 and 33 knots...it would be probably the best possible design for the panzership concept

    Fix for the camouflages

the peculiarities of japanese naval camouflage: the story of Sagara Maru from US Navy Intelligence report "Camouflages of japanese ships and naval installations" from december 1945

[IDEA] overhaul of the camouflage system

and one other note to the green japanse camos: dont forget that the purpose of the naval camouflage was not to blend, but distort the ship's silhouette (unless we are talking about camouflage for harbored ships which were suppose to hide in the backround indeed), thus it doesnt matter which color you choose, but it has to be contrast colors to effectively work - that's why black and white were mostly used. so my main problem with non-premium camos is that they are tiled. tiling doesnt help distorting the silhouette, in fact regularity in pattern negate the effect of the camo. so in general: the "real" camo for me stands primarily for camouflage which could work in real life and so put tiled camouflage on a ship looks like put b&w striped camo on a tank - completely out of place and context this game takes place on Earth (presumably) and we have real ships so i would like to have real camos as well. also historical doesnt mean that they do not look good. on the contrary. so as i said before: make historical camos regular ones and fantasy stuff premiums -> but good-looking fantasy for example these were applied on merchant vessels during ww1 (note that there is absolutely no tiling) i would take something like that as model for premium camo and let the player to choose the pattern and let him choose from color options i just believe that game camouflages can look as true naval camouflages and look good at the same time

    Admiral Graf Spee- premium T6?

this is exactly the philosophy on which deutschland class was based Scharnhorst didnt sacrifice gun caliber for speed. There were simply no factories to produce 381mm at the time she was built. And high speed was a standard for every battleship built at that time (Nelson class is the only exception) the technology allowed that, unlike in 1910s or 1920s...there were just no battlecruisers after 1930 because there was no need to sacrifice armor to get high speed The point is that Germany was not allowed to built a battleship at the time Deutschlands were designed. They had to fit the project in tonnage which didnt allow to build a proper battleship. So the goal was not to design a cruiser, but something which could easily handle with current cruisers and still fit the tonnage limit...and yeah. everyone knows that the point was to attack convoys and not the enemy's main force. even bismarcks were not intended for that

[IDEA] overhaul of the camouflage system

there is a problem with japanese. they didnt use camos for ships much and in fact no camo was ever applied on yamato or shimakaze. japanese camouflaged mostly anchored ships and thats why most of their historical camo is green. so i understand why wg decided to go this way with japs i think yamatos camo look decent and shimikaze's definitely looks good to me edit: pretty known example of green camouflage is for anchored nagato Takao also received green camo in 1945 when she was permanently anchored in Singapore

    Admiral Graf Spee- premium T6?

16km? T6? this stinks graf spee is such a great opportunity to bring ship with completely unique playstyle. it seems that wg doesnt think so. long-range, sneaky sniper at tier 5 looked like good role for her...what wg think that she will do against north carolinas, amagis, mogamis ? or will she have pref MM? i think that the tier 8 is deadly enviroment for her and why are so many people offended by pocket battleship? keep in mind shes not cruiser at least she was not designed to be cruiser but thats what she became because after her were built cruiser beasts which would torn her apart. strange that the term battlecruiser was never used for her. and it would be fitting. certainly way fitting than for scharnhorst...ugh

i agree with idea to make premiums tweakable...but i dont agree with examples you picked. these should be left behind and forgotten. compare to them the new premiums look still way better

[IDEA] overhaul of the camouflage system

the premium camos are historical based or semi-historical and look way better than regular camos or the stupid promos you picked. in fact there is major problem with regular camouflages and thats that these are tiled. since no naval camo was tiled these camos will never look good to me, so i would prefer to redo regular camos completely the gearing's camo is historical "measure 33a" maybe not looking as spectacular as someone would expect from premium camo but at least looks like naval camo and i just wish these were regulars i am actually happy that finally we have real naval camos in the game. the shame is we have to pay for them and meet the other ugly regular stuff on daily basis. the ideal state for me would be if current premium camos - which are history based - would be regulars and premiums would be some more extravagant stuff which would allow the player to tweak some of its parameters to his taste

    The Admiral Graf Spee

still valid discussion...now with 283mm in the game even more

    The Admiral Graf Spee

my 2 cents as discussed many times here: only place for her is mid-tier. you definitely can not treat her as super-heavy cruiser because opposition she would face at high tier would torn her apart: rapid-firing cruisers with big health pool and quick battleship. she would suffer here. now we can imagine performance of her guns because of scharnhorst. just no... my suggestion is tier 5, because... i am the person who thinks that ships should be placed in tech tree chronologically because it is the best way to balance them and graf spee is perfect example. mid tier is ideal place for her because there are still mostly light cruisers or rather poorly armored, slow-firing heavy cruiser she can handle and most importantly slow battleships which she can outrun. that's the opposition she was designed to face.

yeah. looks like kaiser merged with bayern the second picture doesnt look like german design to me. its hull looks somewhat russian but the smokestacks look french...dunno EDIT: maybe it is what-if...there is lot of this stuff on shipbucket. but i found it under never built-desings so i'm not sure. however i believe these are what-ifs for sure (our mysterious design is there too). still great-looking:

    Where is König Albert!

i would say shes very ambivalent - against tiers 2 and 3 she feels really op but she struggles against 4 mainly because of range...still her shells seem to be magnetized towards cruisers' citadels (maybe that's just the new brit ones) No, I take it back...shes op

Potential Japanese Tier 8 Premium Battleships

she would be bigger than nagato there will be probably more going on with japanese bb tech tree. tosas are more natural upgrade from nagato class than amagis imho. also dont forget about other project: amagis' bb counterparts should have been kii-class...slightly slower, slightly better armored

    Dreadnought Era Appreciation Thread

there is a nice anecdote about her: when she fired full broadside at jutland, people on other ships in the line thought that she blowed up. she would be definitely interesting premium - with no armor true glass cannon of a battleship

    Royal Navy Cruisers Feedback

i will not talk about balance issues, ap shells, smoke...but about one unbelievable error which completely compromises the game as whole and that's weird nautical behavior of these ships - incredible fast acceleration + almost no speed loss in turns i simply can not understand where did you get this stupid idea. this just makes the game looks and behaves completelly ridiculous. do you realize what are you presenting to us? that great britain possessed some miraculous technology which allowed them to break laws of physics. so far i thought that the speed depends on mass, energy, friction...and certainly not on nationality or ship class. this just can not be matter of flavoring certain tech tree. newer ships can maybe acclerate faster because of better engines or hull design but haviest ship will accelerate slowly than lighter ship and it doestn matter if she is british or turkish. not to speak about speed loss in turns - every ships has to loose her speed in turn: the tigher the turn the more speed you'll loose. so do you understand how absurd these features are? it is the same thing as introduce line in WoT when these tanks would be able to go faster uphill than downhill just for the sake of originality. since we have features which are based in reality (armor, balistics, ships themselves ...) and this game takes place on Earth, i urge you to remove it, because this is going too far. so please come to your senses and remove it asap

Brit CL - failed concept, failed execution

what about their weird nautical behavior - incredible acceleration, no speed loss in turns...isnt this against laws of physics? some stats have room for interpretation because you can not measure them irl - spotting distance, damage output, hp pool, etc but acceleration and speed loss in turns? these just can not be "national flavour" did GB possess some incredible technology which other states did not? this game is starting to behave completely unrealistic - and dont say it was right from the start. we have pretty realistic balistics and armor, real ship designs. so there is no way to put sci-fi like this into the game and there is even no need to do that. even without this weird behaviour british cruisers are flavored enough
