how was she doing?

i think thats one of the best looking japanese camos in the game...yamato's camo would be on the other side of the spectrum imho the difference against most of the premiums is that japanese ones are made up (except for few). wg just decided to go with greenish shades for japanese, because only camo they ever used was for harbored ships. japs didnt believe that camo can dazzle rangefinders

you have to be kidding -
grandpa pux: i remember back then in A hull nagato (now mutsu), right at the very beginning of the match, some north carolina sniped me from 20km for half of my health, then i started to turn in circles from shock like headless chicken, amusing my fellow teammates, and then came the second salvo which finished my misery...colorado is also nasty beast. respect those big guns in your rather squishy kongo

are there any comparisons available for the appearance changes?

there is a difference between making something simplistic and something absurd. these examples you wrote, these were just simplified, but there is a logic behind them: there would be damage party which would fight the fire, stop hull leak, there would be alert for guns crew, etc. but it would take just longer....but what would make ship turning suddenly tighter? that doesnt make any sense and no. balance does not supersede immersion - both are equally important otherwise there is no reason to have ships and sea when they doesnt behave like ships and sea at all there are several things scaled down/up because of various reasons - the main reason is to speed up the game. thats not just understandable but necessary. but ship which doesnt behave like ship just because of some "national flavor" or because developers have to comply to some rants that ship is not interesting enough, thats different story 1MajorKoenig, on 18 April 2017 - 09:31 AM, said: There is a difference between tweaking things to make the game work and throwing all connection to realism out of the window. Don't know why ppl don't understand that. Arcade elements are fine but if the games looses all connections to reality it becomes absurd. these words should be carved to stone ...and to the french speed boost: i'm actually also ok with the fact that french have that - as i said it reflects that their cruisers were able to reach formidable speeds during trials. only thing which bothers me is that henry iv, which should have over 20 000t, will be able to reach 42 knots. thats beyond capability of mid 20th century technology. i would just prefer if the speed boost have through tiers dropping ratio rather than constant: starting with emile bertin on 15% (he should have the boost too because it reached the highest speed of them during trials) and ending with henry on lets say 8%. it would feel more believable imho. i just dont think that the speed boost will compesate for the lack of armor. it will only work situationally, when you will need to shift position quickly. so not a big deal to give to already impressively quick ship just less of a boost...but yeah. i can live with henry making 42 knots...but not so much with henry making turns like destroyer and dont loosing speed - that would go way too far -

no, no, no...no more space ships thats deny laws of physics like british cruisers...the speed boost is already ridiculous enough for the high tier heavy cruisers. now 200m ship would turn like 100m ship and even doesnt loose speed because of some magical boost? no, just no. speed boost should represent boilers overload which is a historical thing with french cruiser trials. what would represent suddenly smaller turning circle? some alien technology? because something is lacking on a one side, it wont make it good to go overboard on the other side - it will be still bad and ridiculous on top of everything. dont know how you guys, but i certainly dont like loosing immersion and believability just for some balance issues - then we just can replace ships and sea with some shapeless anonymous blobs in some abstract space -

like that?

yeah. english speaking youtubers would be especially happy

well, thats just that this isnt la galissonnière class. result of that is the paint job on turrets and superstructure doesnt look completelly convincing imho. i wonder what camo will they pick as premium for galissonnière when they used the gloire's for this one EDIT: oh...it seems that there is plenty of options to choose from...i knew only the gloire's 1944 camo (first one is american "measure 22" though) and the gloire from 1944 for reference -
ah. didnt know that...sorry wg

i must say i love the camouflage Nimrod411, on 17 April 2017 - 03:31 PM, said: Better named it "Gloire". Was commissioned in 1937 and had at some point (almost) the same dazzle camouflage. not "almost"...that is la Gloire's camo -
well, no french battleship was really conventional for that matter
-
yeah. picking the name "de grasse" is really backstab for people who were looking forward to her. this may suggest that we will not see the 1956 one. wg could just name this one Chateaurenault or Guichen. maybe they will switch their names if 1956 grasse will ever come into game...or maybe will name her "de grasse 2"...dunno
-
but i tend to agree with op. i also thought that the "real" 1956 de grasse will be the case. there was already quite a lot of mentions about her when speaking about premium ship suggestions, so im not surprised that someone can be disappointed. she would be more interesting ship, no doubts
-
still 1941 doesnt make much sense since she was captured by germans in 1940...i think in 1941 noone had any idea how she will end up...probably a typo and should have been there 1940
-
what does "historical data of 1941" means though? i thought that she had just hull completed in 1941
-
wow. la gloire's camo. didnt expect that. thumbs up ImperialAdmiral, on 17 April 2017 - 02:01 PM, said: Maybe if she had different camo... how dare you... but yeah. i would really like to see 1956 de grasse in the game at some point.
-
yeah. im really looking forward to another nonsense just for the sake of originality for the tech tree...like rn cruisers which accelerate like in vacuum and dont loose speed at turns. but at least they had "national flavor"...geez
-
i dont know...i also thought that there is maybe some part of a picture that i'm missing. still it doesnt seem right to give her cruiser level of torpedo reduction while irl there was great deal to give her excellent underwater protection. i was really hoping that at least against torpedos she will do rather well
-
to bring something to the topic: what i dont understand is why she has such poor torpedo damage reduction (16%). i always thought that her bulges and bulkheads were considered very effective. and i think that it is pretty obvious that she will desperately need that because she will eat one torpedo after another
-
EDIT: i was just pointing out small mistake with wg model: it has blast bags in same color as the hull, but i know them as rather prominently white (as you can se below), which was always very typical for me about hood, but it seems that in 1940 they were indeed rather as grey as the hull...so nvm
-
