  1. interesting answers we got here.

Of course this whole thread is just an opinion and it may vary wildly from player to player what the see as "worth it" or "good", but it feels like that the couserse WG took was a bit downhill with the cv rework, but it was even more steering towards the cliff when the "early access" monetization became normal together with more and more dockyard and lootbox/random events.

Submarines are also one part the community feels the game is going into a wrong direction and i personally fear for the "fortnite-effect" where old players are screwed over too much at a certain point and leave, but the developer doesn't care as long as new players always come in.
What WG might overlook with this tactic is that games like fortnite are made for a big rollover and children, while warships is more of a "old-man with money" game. Warhips is no colorful serotonin machine that collects the money of their users parents, but it is a game that can have a somewhat wealthy playerbase that is ready to put money in ships for big prices, but they also want to know what they get and not gamble.

I am ok with the christmas containers, especially with the removed ships in them and havin actually a good chance for premiums (although i am not really a friend of the system with shortlists and different groups for certain ships)

  2. I recently thought about when the last time a desirable premium that could be directly bought was released.

I mean a premium ship that is not in lootboxes, random bundles, tied to an event or a resource. Something like the Mainz or Alaska, a ship that is released and you just buy it because it suits you and it looks good. (ofc some are also available for resources)

this thought came to me because that would be the fairest and purest way of spending money. you get what you pay for.

Because of this thought i began to scroll through the wows news articles and i saw a few ships that were released normally (iwami, hornet, bearn are just a few examples), but i mainly saw things like events (dockyard, timegated events with special tokens, random bundles) and a few resource ships.
And most ships that were released with a normal "buy" option were mediocre at best.

It feels like wows lost its spark and turns into a gambling machine. like mobile games, it is the hunt for the short term money, not the happy long term customer. Games turn into pure addiction/gambling machines made to manipulate us and abuse our biological weaknesses. But i think this will turn against the ones who use this way of money making one day. The gambling stuff (like lootboxes) is getting outlawed in more and more countries, some of them even ordered the companies by court to pay the money back.

Even though i learned my lesson and stopped spending money on random-crap-stuff i was still a big spender in wows, but in the last years it feels like everything is turning into such things. timegated or random-bundle stuff is destroying the passion i feel for this game and therefore my reason to spend money.

  3. Hi, for the past few hours i tried to get into creating mods for wows, but i get the feeling like there are stones being put into my way on every step i make.
Most paths are out of date but that isn't the biggest problem, the biggest problem is that even the test mod that is put out by wargaming fails to load (python log says so) and i can't even get a simple HelloWorld (like the one from the guide) to run.
Also do i have to test the mods always on testserver/live game or is there something like a extra tool i can testrun them with?

  4. Hi guys i have some Feedback/suggestions i wanted to place somewhere:
I liked the idea of low tier ranked, t5 ranked was fun
I would like to play sometimes with at least one friend, so how about allowing divisions, but only one division per side with a maximum of 2 players. that would make ranked at least somewhat social.
Shorter Seasons would also make it more lively as well, but i am not 100% sure about that

The question is what you use as your baseline. You basically need to start in the premium shop. Where 1 Dubloon equals 0,3 Cents (counting german prices). From there on you can calculate the following:

    • 1 dubloon is worth 1.500 credits (not taking any specials into consideration)
    • 1 credit is worth 0,0002 Cents (by this calculation)

This you can compare to the shop or ingame values then. Since WG advertises the credit bundles as discounted you can calculate both values. For the "shipload of credits" it is either 137,06€ or discounted 81,99€. Both for 62.500.000 credits. This results in:

    • 137,06€ - 0,0002     Cents per Credit (ingame price)
    •  81,99€  - 0,000001 Cents per Credit

Already making the offer in the shop a 40,2% (WG rounds to 40%) discount compared to the actual ingame value. Where you used this discounted price as a standard value making the whole calculation bias by default.

i used the price that you pay when you buy it in the shop. i ignored "discounts" or anything and only took the price you pay because everything else is irrelevant. if you want to call it a discounted price please do so, then it is the base. but i never payed 137,06 for the package, nor have i bought so many credits ingame and payed this price then, therefore i used the "usual" price it is available for.
i wouldn't call this biased to be honest, but closer to reality. why would i use the ingame credit as a baseprice? i deliberatly wanted to use (like i explained in the post, but maybe i haven't made that clear enough) "the cheapest(per unit) biggest package with a single type of content"

    edit:
i now included the ingame credits so the difference to the shop price is visible. btw you can call it discount when you go up, or price increase when you go down, i chose the latter because you already included it the other way in the "discounts".

Hence you take a base price for a single unit - like in supermarkets where it has to be comparable by kg, liter or something all products of a certain category have in common.

yeah like that. it gives you more oversight that way because when comparing 2 packages of similar potatos with different weights and prices it helps to have a "per kg" price attached for comparison. in the same way i thought to introduce the "worthness" factor which is nothing more than a comparison of the "per unit price" to the biggest packages.

edit: my original reason to make this was because i wanted to know if combined packages might be a better deal and the same for things like the admiral packages of ships in the armory. maybe i'll put aquila in as a gerneal comparison. it just compares the contents anyway, not if it is worth it for "you" personally.

After trying to understand what your sheet is trying to express it only shows 1 thing - Buying in bulk (excluding dubloons) is cheaper. And some datapoints aren't comprehensive at all. For premium you took the 1 year and calculated the price backwards. For credits there is no point to start measuring in your data.

it's like i said in the post, i took the bigest package in the shop and used that as a "base-price" so you can compare things better
i thought about using the new year price for premium but decided against it bc if the smaller packages are important to you and you want to know how much you pay extra / how much discount oyu miss out on then you are not using the new years one anyway.

edit: for credits it is the "shipload of credits" package i used, therefore it has a 1.0 wortness

  8. hi,
i made a little price comparison sheet where you can see how much value vs price certain packages and deals have.
you should be able to see all calculations in the cells of the excel, more explanation is in my post on reddit:

  10. there seems to be something wrong with the zoom cam with subs. might be a bug prduced bc of my monitor (samsung odyssey g9)
    image.thumb.png.0067adae8be1a2b7b2045de4fbf80a1d.png
in the picture oyu can see that all elements (like the power stages of the engine and the ship on the compass) once shown will stay and moved elements will be layed over it. this continous one as long as you are zoomed in and will make everything unreadable
