Bismarck and Tirpitz - Barely tier VIII in 0.9.2.0
Miragetank90 replied to pissBoiler's topic in Battleships
I think there are some guides on youtube which explain aiming and AP shells in greater detail, so I'd recommend looking these up if you're having problems, they might help. But know that there's nothing wrong with these mechanics, or Bismarck/Tirp guns for that matter. They perform just fine. It seems to me you just need practice and some more knowledge is all.- 51 replies

Bismarck and Tirpitz - Barely tier VIII in 0.9.2.0
Miragetank90 replied to pissBoiler's topic in Battleships
Puerto Rico has a minimum of 27mm of armour on the hull. If you're brawling, I assume you're at close range. If you had a good enough angle to damage his broadside without bouncing, then you should not have issues with overpen on a PR if you know where to aim. For example, aiming for the centre of mass will result in less overpens than if you aim too far forward in the bow area, or too far aft. Aiming too high is also going to give you more chances to overpen than if you had aimed lower, closer to the waterline. Of course, RNG is a thing, so depending on range your shells don't always hit the mark exactly.- 51 replies

Bismarck and Tirpitz - Barely tier VIII in 0.9.2.0
Miragetank90 replied to pissBoiler's topic in Battleships
I don't mean anything bad, but every so often we get similar threads in here, saying ''X ship feels different now since patch'' or something along those lines, when the ship in question wasn't impacted at all in that patch. So, I'm thinking it's probably confirmation bias on your part, or a string of bad rng instances making it seem worse, when it in fact, isn't. As for the instances described in the replays, it's difficult for anyone to comment on these without seeing it for ourselves. I will say, however, that it's impossible for 380mm guns to bounce off a Gearing, since 380mm AP over-matches all armour 25mm and below. (EDIT: Well, I guess 26mm and below now, since 26mm became a thing)- 51 replies

To answer your question, absolutely nothing happened/was changed about them, other than their secondaries, which got a slight buff. For example, you can now penetrate certain USN BBs deck, upper belt, and side plating(38mm) with the 150mm secondaries now(w/o IFHE). i.e, Iowa, Montana, etc.- 51 replies

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"

I find nothing terribly wrong with Bismarck, so yes I am. Bismarck is good ship, even more so with the all the buffs lately. Others might not think so, but eh. *shrug* -

That is 2 month stats? I'm looking at that screen now on wows-numbers, I thought this shows total games, not 2 months. Was I mistaken? I mean, I don't see anywhere it specifies ''2mths''. The number of battles are really high for such a short period as well. Nevermind, I understand what you were saying now. Yes, but this has nothing to do with the comparison you made with Yama/monty to Kremlin, which still doesn't have enough battles to make a fair comparison to the other 2, which have ~8 times more and 6 times more respectively and have been around for years. That's why I wanted to see the recent stats comparison, meaning the stats of these ships during last month ONLY, or last quarter ONLY. You can actually find these on maplesyrup, but I hate the UI on that site and I always get lost. This is the more accurate representation of performance. Also, the number of battles has nothing to do with ship balance arguments. No? -

I like Kurfurst more in randoms, but never in competitive - in this case I'd rather be in Kremlin. -

Kremlin was the top pick mostly because of the cyclone meta, not because it's better than every other BB. And Yama has always been and always will be among the most solid picks for BB in competitive. Also, before comparing Yamato and Montana to Kremlin, look at the vastly different sample sizes. Kremlin has only a fraction of the total of either ships, which have been around since day 1. Show me recent stats, then we can have an argument. This is not proof of anything. -
How did you get killed by a CV right at the start in your spawn? A detonation?

Depends what you consider ''real''. The Sovetsky-Soyuz class was very real, but the three ships that were started were not completed. -

Highly debatable. My best ships per tier are not even Soviet... -

You seriously believe that there are no other strong ships in this game apart from Kremlin, Stalin and co.? -
No no, what we need are player controlled characters armed with magnetic mines and riding jet skis
-
Yeah. It was a useless skill though. IIRC 3pts, and considering everything else you need to take, not to mention the fact that even half-decent positioning makes this a non-issue, and you are usually not on fire most of the time, unless you're the last player left or you get caught out, for example.

@CptBarney Tagged you here because I didn't want to go OT in that thread, which is more about CVs in CB. Look at this. These are all my CV games since returning to CV play after my 3 month CV ''Hiatus''. Pay special attention to Haku relative to other CVs. Yes, the sample size is small. But idk if I am just bad at Haku or all the trash players you were talking about play on my team when I'm in Haku. When I play Midway though, everything is just so much better. In both her and even Audacious, I find it easier to carry. Is it because I just generally dislike Haku? To be fair, most of these Haku games have been nigh un-carryable. I'm not the greatest CV ever and I make mistakes, but NOT on the level of these teams. It's been really, really bad. Especially since I never div. It's pretty depressing to look at.

Addition of CVs to CB next season
Miragetank90 replied to GulvkluderGuld's topic in General Discussion
Haku is a top pick for ages for good reasons, but personally I don't like her much. To me, the way the torp squadrons are designed is annoying. Yes, you can blap with AP bombs, etc. But I'm just not really into Haku. Midway is more up my alley. -
Local dockyard? Not sure what you mean, but the ''Dockyard'' was part of an event that took place last year at Christmastime, through which you could obtain a Puerto Rico. You can't create one. It might come back in future, however.

Drydock VS advanced ingame camera controls
Miragetank90 replied to FukushuNL's topic in General Discussion
A simple: ''Hey guys, let's have a free camera in the port, so we can properly admire the models'' would have been both more succinct and non-confrontational... Even with something as innocent as Dry Dock, WG is still somehow the villain. People are so funny. -
What kind of players are you meeting, that don't react to your CV at all, Excav? Can we switch? Yes. Even if it means they'll eat a full broadside from multiple ships. I mean... what.
-
It's not bad. You just have to take it into consideration when using it. It can be useful for getting your torps on target when giving lead to fast ships, and ships in a turn. That being said, you need to keep in mind that taking this skill increases your torpedo arming distance(the yellow bar). IMO It's pretty useful on ships like Audacious and Midway, who's torps are very slow. It's less useful on ships with already fast torps, like Hakuryu. Myself, I take it on Haku anyways(along with Aerial Torps Mod. 1) because 58kt torps are kinda lulzy, but Hakus' already huge arming distance increases to a whopping 772m. That's a little iffy. In the end, it's down to personal preference. There are pros and cons.
