ST 0.10.0, changes to new skill system (DB 104)
Miragetank90 replied to Tanatoy's topic in Development Blog
Still no interest on the part of you guys to implement build templates to set up and switch between, even after all these years. Something which is at this point a basic MMO feature. -
It's less to see who is firing at you and more for giving intel about DDs and when they have fired torps or are about to, as well as quick snapshot about who is aiming before you do something to help influence your decisions on the fly for the better. You're welcome. As above people have mentioned, it's an option to drop EM for High Alert or another useful t2 skill like AR or JOAT since the base traverse is already good. If you have Honore tho I'd use EM anyway to take advantage of his better EM skill.

Also an option, I do it that way on my second Repu captain(not Honore)

PT is a useful skill in any situation for almost any non-CV ship as it provides useful info and from that, you can make certain educated guesses and deductions you would not have been able to otherwise. PM is good for Rich and ships like Repu, but I would not part with PT. So the build I optimised for my use takes both. Rudder is good but not for a beginner if you ask me. Better to mitigate fire damage for now. Speaking of, do you know what is low-key the best? Propulsion. But that's another topic and not something I would recommend to a newbie or the inexperienced. Fire Prevention's strength comes from the merging of the 2 central fires into one, that's it. The firechance reduction it also gives is far less important. In any case, I think it's better for newbies to aim for this skill to help with staying alive and a bit more forgiving experience, because it helps. Personally I don't take it on many BBs, including 10s, because I find I don't need it and thus have 4 points to use in a different build aside from the standard mould.
-
For you, for now, the standard. For 10 points, I'd take this order. When you have a bit more experience, you can throw bog-standard out the window and mix it up some more. Until then, try this for easy effectiveness. Quick tip: Don't be that guy who sits still bow on or just reverses all game. Use your boost to get into advantageous positions quickly and relocate as needed for maximum effect.

You'll see the same thing happen if you mount the Serious Unsinkable Sam camo on Ark Royal. It's cute.

Good question. And hopefully for coal or FXP, that's what I'd want at least. Zuiho, Hiryuu and Taiho will return as an alternate CV branch on even tiers. Taiho will be a 10 alongside Haku. Essex and the rest will get similar treatment.

Have you tried CVs yet? Yes, there are many cruisers that can do that, for instance. To put it in simple terms, it depends on the armour schemes of said cruisers and the penetration of the BBs in question, as well as whether said BB can overmatch your hull plating or not. Besides that, you still have your HP to play with and the ability to dodge salvoes or make him overshoot by adjusting your speed and rudder. If you play properly, you'll very rarely get completely devstruck in a Cruiser.

Pinnacle of Boredom: Watching Competitive Play
Miragetank90 replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
I don't watch much, usually any little watching I do is for analytical purposes. Not because I find it boring, but because I prefer to do other things with my time. Watching other people play video games(or non-combat sports for that matter) is not my thing. An exception to this would be watching horror gaming on Youtube. This, I like doing. Also, my internet is too to watch streams most of the time. -

CB Season 11 : Feedback & Discussions topic.
Miragetank90 replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
I'd be interested to know how the 37,300 games this season stacks up to the numbers in previous seasons if anybody has the info Could have been just me but it feels like queue times have gotten longer, at least in the top leagues. -

The AI has found a way to neutralise CV threat

And if you had armed them, they could probably still shoot and damage you I guess? Wow this strat is OP as hell -

Miragetank90 replied to thiextar's topic in General Discussion
It's just my take in the end, not everyone will think the same way and might get more use out of using Roosevelt, depending on their strat. In any case, I agree Haku lost its top spot and it now goes to one of those 2. -
I always pick coal. Rarely, I'll try my luck at a supercontainer. But if you're brand-spanking new maybe credits and flags are more useful. Idk. I joined and played up the tiers before there were containers

Will Somers render the Shimakaze redundant?
Miragetank90 replied to Hannibalurg's topic in General Discussion
In any case the answer to this thread is: Yes But it was less to do with CVs and more to do with Russian 12km radar Somers is also more favourable in some other relevant ways, like better torp reload and much better smoke for example. That is, if you wanted to take something other than Halland in CV meta I realized after the fact that I wrote this with strictly competitive perspective, Shima is ofc fine in randoms -

Business practices aside, it absolutely is worth it tho, Smaland is amazing and one of the strongest, most competitive DDs -

imo in the context of CBs - compared to MvR, FDR is not that great honestly especially if you face a competent team and their CV is also competent. It's gonna get blocked hard. MvR is far more potent: - Speed to get anywhere it needs to be quickly, fighters on all squadrons for spotting or covering. It's the superior supporter. FDR is really in trouble when it comes to fighters as the planes are slow as hell and combined with the low detectability of MvR fighters... yea. Add to that the large squadron sizes of FDR, you will lose a lot of planes if you're not careful and even if you are, you will end up being blocked. Fighters are not nearly as big a problem for MvR. - Much more manageable squadron sizes, without needing to hang around forever for follow up strikes. - Massive damage potential on bombs that is very difficult to recover from, targets can be killed very quickly with focus fire and dropping. Strikes happen faster and are far more efficient with fewer amounts of planes. - MvR is far superior at mitigating damage taken from flak. TLDR FDR is good at dealing damage and better suited in some ways to directly attacking Hallands, but MvR is the superior CV overall in the competitive setting, and is still able to apply big damage(and wherever it is relevant to do so) much faster and with greater efficiency. -
