I've just started to get myself back into WoWS again after being away for some time (I was a CBT back in the day so I'm well out of touch with the current situation). I've started to grind out all the BB lines from tier 3 and I've found myself up against 2 tier 4 carriers on each team in pretty much every match and usually end up being torped to death and going around in circles trying to dodge incoming air attacks - achieving pretty much nothing except to watch my health pool disappear more rapidly than I would like. My AA does nothing and I turn and go forward so slow that I'm a sitting duck. I'm left with the conclusion that the only way to guard against air attacks is to park next to my own CV's and try to use the fighter cover they inevitably seem to give themselves. Is this the current low tier meta or am I missing something? Getting a little disheartened. If it is the meta - does it get better at higher tiers with better AA?

totally agree - but if I can limit it a bit I consider it a small win. It's just a shame I'm having to resort to this in order to get past tier 3 and 4 BB's.

but most of the stat padders won't be playing co-op I suspect - so that limits the pain I'm hoping!

I can live with being overmatched by higher tier BB's - that's a mechanic I can live with......but these air attacks I just can't take much longer. I think I'm gonna play against the bots until I get to tier 5 then try again - it will take a while longer but I might just keep my sanity. I know the bots are a bit rubbish and tend to suicide all over the place so I'm ready for that. I have some free xp stored up but I refuse to use it on these low tiers - saving it for module grinds on some of the worse stock mid tiers (i'm sure there are some as this is WG - and they have form).

Thanks guys. So it's pretty much a matter of getting to Tier 6 BB's in order to weather the worst of the storm - at least AA get's better as i climb the tiers a bit. It's a bit of a joke at Tier 3 from where I'm sat. Interesting it's just the Hosho though that's considered OP. What's the advantage that carrier has over the others? I would play it to find out but I have no desire to play with planes.......I'm here for the ships.
