So just want to know if there is also a direct link to the updates or only via the client?

Let me rephrase.... In WoT I can either update via the client as normal OR I can download the patch file directly and copy it into the patch folder and do the update. The 2nd option is better as it is usually faster and I can share it with friends who come from work and then need to still download. Now I checked the update/download area and there is no such option I can see but I might have missed it.
