  1. The Shima is still a beast. The others are just so much better at hunting DDs (and even at Torping)... She is all about those 3 lauchers x 5 Torpedos and the IJN Torpedo damage. The shima is still dangerous with 12 km torpedos and especially the 8km ones (prepare for an awful stock grind with the 20 km ones for those). But to use them both of them need skill in form of map awareness positioning and dancing around radar/Hydro. Back in the day the 20 km Torpedos where just as dangerous because they were just as hard to dodge and there were no Radar and Hydro back then. That lead to everyone grinding for "the op ship" so the matches got crowed by Shimas which resulted in the infamous "torpedosoup" (you can imagine how it was with 5 Shimas per side each with 15 torpedos every two minutes that would run 20 km until they run out). This resulted in nerfing them because WG didn't like the doing massive damage while never being in danger to be spotted. The shima deserved the nerf back then, but it was applied to all IJN DDs. Then they got powercreeped by things like radar, HAS and PA DDs (which are ridiculous as those contradict what WG was using as a reason to nerf IJN back then). I always played the IJN DDs for what they were advertised for. The stealth torpedo game. I was a fan of the first hour and Shima was also my first ever Tier X. Then after the nerfs hit i learned that i should've grinded the USN line as those were the ones more close to that gameplay now. I felt kind of shafted. Then the PA DDs happened.......
  2. Well sometimes it is the right move to run for it to survive and fight another day (as in 3 minutes later into the game). The HP difference is the big part. It always triggeres me hard to see IJN DDs running desperatly from a 2-3k HP gunboat DD after missing their torpedos only for the gunboat to catch up and gunning them down without much resistance. Don't get me wrong I like IJN DDs too. Thats why it broke my heart when RPF was forced into the game even over the rightful concerns of the community. I adapted and changed my playstyle accordingly. I still bring out my IJN DDs that stayed in port (namely Fujin, Shinonome, Shiratsuyu, Akizuki, Harekaze and Shima) to have some fun torping straght lining BBs into oblivion. I know i will do so again tomorrow to get those 90k dmg with torpedos mission from the current campaign. But I am sad seeing them as a shadow of the Ships they used to be. (well except Fujin for reasons ) I like the concealment game too. But you have to be good to do that. Staying in the sweetspot to spot the enemy DD without being spotted yourself while having the patience to NOT pull the trigger. But then you still rely on your team....
  3. True. Just like in the BBs there are some very bad DDs out there. It is usualy easier to see bad BBs because they live longer even though they are doing it wrong and due to bad positioning (and because there is more of them due to the BB numbers) but the keen eye will spot those baddys in DDs easiliy. Those DDs that will: -go straight for the cap no matter the enemylineup and smoke up as they arrive there even when not spotted and stay in smoke. -Launch Torpedos at destroyers with a few thousand hitpoints left even though said DD is spotting and shooting him instead of using their own guns and kill the enemy DD in a matter of secounds. -lauch torpedos from 2. line at targets out of their torpedorange at targets not even moving towards them. -in a gunfight where two opposing DDs ran into each other except the baddy will just get scared dump of the torpedos in the enemy DDs direction pop smoke and run (not using the guns) no matter of the hp difference. (especially the rare captains left on IJN DDs are prone to this) -ignore caps to flank all the way around the border to either get the enemy CV or better torpedo angles on the BBs. (and getting murdered by DDs with RPF) - manage to miss all their torpedos from under 4km range... I have seen a lot of mindblowing stupid things from friendly DDs (after i died). BUT the fact that good players will farm those baddies even in IJN DDs doesn't change the fact that DDs of other nations are (mostly) just flat out better and will be the deciding factor when captains of equal skilllevels meet.
  4. ...not if they have RPF which they should if they are any good especially on Kidd (because premium). They will find you, they are faster than you and you will turn into cheese once they see you. The only way to outrun them is because they have to bail out because you are hiding in the spotting range of your team. Sometimes when I know there is a IJN DD that doesn't have teammates left to hide behind in any of my gunboat DDs i make fun out of it and type in all chat: "just give up. You can run but you can't hide"
  5. But...but... they have high damage torpedos! AND can hit (and mostly sink with one torp) enemy DDs stupid enough to get hit. That most be worth something right? And you can totally use your superior stealth when most gunboat DDs use RPF nowadays....... /sarcasm off The problem isn't that good players still can make IJN DDs work and that there will always be baddys in BBs. The problem is that most IJN DDs (save Aki) on average can't do anything the Fletcher can't do even better. The IJN DDs due to getting their Torpedos hit so hard by the nerfbat got powercreeped by other DDs (especially the new PA DDs if you don't count the occasional torpedohit on a DD). The only reason IJN DDs are still doing "ok" and are fine according to WGs data is because they are played mostly by the "good" players now and everyone else (of the regular players - not counting those grinding the line or only picking IJN for some mission) just left and most likely went to BBs or other DDs. Though some playing the Shima didn't get the memo i guess, maybe because "lol 15 Torpedos!" Yes Kami sisters are OP (which shows how they nerfed Tier V DDs as Kami was the same as Minekaze back in the day). Akizuki is a strong pick for Tier VIII. Shira may still count as strong torpedoboat even though that was nerfed hard by having her choose between smoke and TRB. Everything else is just meh and you will find a DD on every Tier in another nation that is just flatout better.

Most Fun and Least Fun Ship & Why

I think I'll do it per class and name two so here we go: For a fun time the ships i go to are: -DD: Fujin or Chaba -Cruiser: Perth (my absolute favourite ship) and Atago/Takao -BB: Missouri and Yamato -CV: Saipan i guess? (not really a CV player) The real stinkers per class for me are: -DD: the low tier RU DDs. 4 km Torpedos and mediocre at best guns, what to like about them? -Cruiser: The Emerald and Pepsi (damn i was so glad after i was past those) -BB Myogi and RU Oktober Revolution -CV dunno old Bogue maybe?

    Bag of basic questions

MK= Mikhail Kutusov On Topic: I am kind of surprised you don't like Atago if you liked Budy. Atago is basically the same longrange HE playstyle only that Atago comes with the stealth to disappear and reposition and a rare (for Tier VIII CA) heal. Perth is a very unique ship with a weird kind of playstyle. The special smoke mod is almost mandatory and as long as smoke runs you go in up and personal to hunt DDs and cap. Then when smoke is about to run out you widen the distance and keep kiting until your smoke comes off CD. I would say Perth playstyle without smoke is also kind of similar to Budy, but you also have to master the smoke phase of playstyle which requires excellent positioning to get out alive and in time. Oh and it comes with a cute Koala easteregg. Be sceptical though, because Perth is my absolute favourite ship in the game (even though i am normaly a DD main) so i am naturally heavily biased.
  8. As far as I renember tanking in BBs get rewarded already. There is an extra stat called "potential damage" for a reason....

Aftvent SC hype: what did you get?

without today there are 5 missions left.

    Battle of North Cape

just play Gunboat DD or even better RN BBs and fire at enemy DDs. easy
  11. The thing is only ONE player going for the skill is enough to ruin your day trying to flank (or cap near the enemy fleet for that matter). What are the chances to have one ship in the lineup that can spare those 4 points? (like any BB osessed with killing DDs) Even if it is to costly for you. The chances are high it isn't in the mind of any of the other 11 (or 6 for ranked/CB) players. On Topic: Nothing changed. This skill is still as broken as on the first day it saw the light of the day. I am using it as DD main because it is giving such a good edge in a number of DDs but I won't cry if it were finaly removed. Good Ridance that would be.
  12. Even if you ignore that taking away roles of the cv doesn't mean it makes it less likely to get stomped by a simply better player and said better player will be just bored more often, it opens up a can of whole new problems. 1) What do CV do against cv sniping? Should WG give them no fly zone AA? 2) What to do about Saipan which would become essentialy useless overnight or with premium cvs in general? 3) good and better CV players still would dominate the match against bad cv players anyday with good crosstorps, choosing right target, etc. because you only change the ships but the skill imbalance remains edit: 4) oh jeah and what about the Tier IV and V CVs without Alt attacks? It literally can't get anymore boring than this then.
  13. If after the relogg the mission still shows the third stage then you didn't fished it yet. And no you didn't finish the mission in your example in the first post. (or more like you chose the wrong tab to prove it) The mission requires you to do 50k damage with mainbatteries. If I were someone that would bet money i would place my money on the 6 fires doing more damage then 2.151 resulting in you doing less than 50k damage with mainbatteries.... Just play higher Tier or BBs or do more damage with your guns....

Please reward teamplay not only DMG

There actualy is skill in those. Planekills is all about positioning in a non cv as those planes are faster than any ship and most cv players are (hopefully) not so stupid to fly their planes over Kutusovs and Baltimores multiple times. With CV i guess you aren't disagreeing that killing lots of planes is very much skill dependent with all the strafing going on. Yes there is RNG involved but so is with every shot you fire from your mainguns (in non cvs). Same with capping. You don't just "sail inside a circle" (sadly that is exactly what most bad DD players do though) you have to survive and don't get hit for at least 30 secounds..... Yes you have stealth if you don't use RU DDs but the enemy may have radar and Hydro (and enemy DDs ofc) too and some of those you won't see coming like Belfast and Chappy or Lo Yang. On Topic: I am all for rewarding teamplay and creating a teamorientated enviroment (that is why I enjoy Ranked and the recent Clan Battles so much) but to be fair WG is already giving plenty of xp for teambased actions. As far as I understood it WG won't just give out more xp then they do now either so it would take away xp from other players which is not WGs goal either. (see DFens_666 comment)
  15. If you don't swim in credits (like i do) and/or are a player that never uses premiumtime/ships the Missouri is a good option. (i got it anyway because it is such a strong ship) It is basically a Tier IX BB that it is impossible to lose money in. Even exploding immediatly after your first salvo should give you decent credits. Apart from that it is a VERY strong Tier IX BB on top. Most rightfully say it is OP as it is the only BB with radar (should've never happened really) and has pinpoint accuracy to delete even DDs reliably. The only reasons i can think of to not go for it are: 1) you don't reach 750k freexp by the time it gets removed and you simply refuse to invest ANY money in the game. 2) You are swimming in credits (50+ million) without any foreseeable creditsinks like a Tier X to buy and don't like the ship. 3) You refuse to play any sort if USN (BBs) ships for whatever reason. (even then you could argue that it is a good investment creditwise because you can just bot and still get lots of credits) 4) You (may) SUCK at aiming and hence will never hit good salvos because of the pinpoint accuracy

    Random December Challenge

Jeah that would interest me too. The price is awesome (I may already own Tirpitz but I wouldn't say no to an Atlanta and De Grasse bought with the Dubloons) and i did try to get lucky but the stars sadly didn't allign for me.... Is there a winner or will we get the new challenge? *uses sumnnoning magic* @MrConway @Crysantos

how can i DISABLE ship explosion sound

You can't really disable only the ship explosion without modding the game. You can however lower the volume of the SFX sounds (should be this one) or the general volume. It will effect other sounds too though. If that isn't to your liking you can try to replace the file in question with an empty soundfile. (aka modding the client) I can't help you with that though.

Holiday Lottery - Try your luck!

Oh and ofc i hope you are alright and recover quickly
  20. No seriously..... I feel really dumb for asking this but somehow I can't find a topic on this so I am either really dumb or the only one that really hates to hear those horns in the game and made the effort to get rid of it (and actualy use the forum) So how do i do it? I tried to remove the check on the option "enable ship horns" like you can see in the picture below (that is how it is suppose to work i guessed) but all it did was making me unable to use MY horn by pressing "n" but i can still clearly hear my teammates banging away on those (imo) stupid and annoying ship horns...... Am I alone with this? Am I the only player that don't want to hear this? (especially with the hohoho) Is that working as intended? What is going on? I hope you can help me. (If I am the only one with this problem please say so so i can rather ask support about it but i doubt that is the case as i play a vanilla client)
  21. If you would've reached rank 1 last season those first two wins would've been enough for Rank 12..... I know what you mean though. I clearly renember some heartbreakers when you lose several ranks especially in ther rank2-5 region. Didn't had this this season so far but i didn't play that much yet though. I reached rank 12 easily this season with said two wins. I am at rank 10 with 0 stars now.... I hope I can get that fourth first rank to be in grabbing range of the USS Black next season.
  22. jeah i know this too. About three secounds i use to look in the right direction (using the sight field on the minimap) and aiming under the smoke that is already visable. Then the model appears and i can estimate aimpoint by giving lead and pull the trigger faster that way.

[SCRUB] The Scrubs - Recruitment thingy

I agree there are good, bad an awesome openings which i am rather picky about too. But there are also those that aren't actual that good but have something to it that makes them addictive and will burn themselves into your mind if you hear them too often. The first of this kind that came to my mind:

    High school fleet?

Don't get me wrong. I am a big fan of Anime too (duh with that Avatar). I am just getting triggered by those fools hating on Anime for no real reason (the Collabships in this game give plenty of "reason" for them) while being so ignorant to even get the name of the thing they hate wrong by calling it "hentai" etc. Those people throwing the "weeb" word around like there is no tomorrow aren't helping either as i also get triggered by people using special words without actualy knowing their meaning. Japanese orientated talk like that only fuels the fire and spawns more of those morons (and attracts them to said threads only to keep hating on something they don't understand). I actualy read some pages of the thread you posted but sadly Kankolle is not my kind of taste (as a game that is - I am really liking the WoWS Kankolle Ui and reskins though). I only watched ARP and even that barely passed as "okay" anime to kill time so I feel kind of lost in there. (and i am scared of the jailbait that is the Shima ) (picture straight out of our scrubs recruitment thread follws)
