Ah so Gearing was godmode with the possibility to stealthfire by lobbing her Shells around the moon to come down at BBs in max range? Tell me more. Yes stealthfire wasn't needed and a dumb mechanic, but you also fail to see that it wasn't by far as strong as certain players (mostly playing BBs) make it out to be. Those sneaky CL (and CAs for that matter) can't hide that well anymore which they did far more often than BBs outside of ranked. This is resulting in more easy targets to shoot especialy if the 5 BBs aren't all in the same spot. (which also means you can't just kite and dodge everything @OTECa1) On Topic: The fundamental problem with BBs in this game is that it actualy combines all the good trades of the usual classes you would also get in a RPG. It is by default intended to be the Tank, but it also doesn't need a healer because that is included too (yes most Tanks get slight heals in RPGs too but those aren't superior to any other form of healing like in this game - just look at the RN BBs) and to top it off it also is the most effective Damagedealer most of the time. Yes DDs with their Torpedos can in theory do more damage than BBs but how often do they get to do it with Radar and Hydro in play? Yes cruisers usualy get better DPM with their faster reload + fire chance but that doesn't mean crap if the BB just deletes them via overmatching their armor (even from the front if needed). They also get most of the Tool that were reserved to cruisers earlier. They simply are a too much of a multitool that makes most of the other ships redundant if not for change in gameplay.

Just type in google "world of Warships" and read the full text on the Hyperlink. Then you know how much they do to prevent overpopulation of BBs.... Inb4 Wilka a forummember sees this and rushes in to defend: Battleships got some nice treats lately. For example Submerged Citadels or with Turtlebackarmour making them practically impossible to citadel (except IJN BBs because reasons) or the buff to Tirpitz lately for their secoundaries to Bismarck levels, or the powercreep from the recently added RN BBs. Following that trend with the citadells on the new coming french BBs i guess it is safe to say the situation won't change much anytime soon™. So you either join them (too boring for me), or you are one of those diehard cruiser/DD- players that stand against to this. Edit: Damn too late! Yes and then they repair 100% of the damage if they aren't too bad to use the damage control + repair and get 3/4 permanent fires.... Yes same with the cruisers that don't actualy need smoke like the RN CLs (careful! irony) and without changing much for the DDs..... BBs can still use smoke to turn and they still survive WAAAY more than any other class....... Or to say it in the style of a certain player from the forums: If it is a nerf to everyone, it ain't a nerf for BBs.

Stalingrad - Clan Wars reward confirmed
Miessa3 replied to Jethro_Grey's topic in General Discussion
I know what you mean, yet I also can renember evenings when i was "forced" to gimp my effectiveness by playing cruiser (DM). Sadly we 5Crub didn't make it in time for me to get the flag even though I was 2. most active player last season (beaten by only one match - Damn you MrWastee) I still tried to make it to every CB even though i knew i won't get anymore rewards out of it due to time restrictions on my side. OT: I understand it also like it's just as ranked battles, as there are also other similarities. -
I figured as much... Just a friendly hint to make your openingpost 100% waterproff or more like impossible to misunderstand as you have been so throughout on other possible problems too. Also looks like the secound price is the one i want most after the third (I Already have Blys, swim in credits, like the blue flag more and could use a free Tier VI ship)

Wait a minute! Do really only the two qouted forums count or can i score extrapoints for being german? https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/forum/633-neueinsteiger-fragen/
-
That sounds like fun. I want to participate too. Sadly i won't have much chance because i can't write answers and check the forums all the time as I am a fulltime employee. But I'll gladly take the consolation price.
-
Of course i meant priority target. (Damn those CBT days still haunt me)
-
Nooo! Don't remove my Awesom-o! Izumo was holding my alltime damagerecord over most of my games! (until that cheap op ship Missouri crashed the party) It is a fun ship and useful all around. Why would you want to remove it?
-
Congratulation to your new ship out of a SC! (I only got ships out of paid xmas containers so far... ) No It is not a Leander. As far as I heard, (don't own that ship myself) it is more similar to the Perth (another premiumship which i do own AND LOVE) which has a rather unique playstyle you won't find in any other sivership (yet). The whole idea of the moving smoke is to first get into a favourable position (best in/near caps) to shoot stuff without having to fear the Targets might be out of range soon or an island will block the line of fire, then activate smoke and Hydro (it is save to move in smoke at 1/4 speed) and at best spotter plane too (if you have, i dunno), punch holes into everyship you see in range. First target DDs (that's why you want to go near caps), then other cruisers if they are near you (best if you can punish braodside with AP), then BBs (that is very effective with IFHE), other cruisers further away (harder to hit then BBs), then sometimes you get to shoot cvs (but this should be rare because either the cv is in a very bad position or you are out of position do be effective or the game is about to end. The most important thing is to keep an eye on the smokeduration and know when to run. When you got smoke for about another half minute it is time to turn away from danger and start accelerating (just before smoke runs out) kiting the enemys until smoke is back off cooldown. Rinse and repeat. The trick is never to be seen unless you are kiting away (then the trick is to not get hit) and never stop moving if you can help it. So no it is very unlike Leander in terms of gameplay (If Perth is any indicator how to play this because Perth got a very similar smoke) Perkwise I already got a19 Point captain but the first 14 points you really should get are: 1: Flightcontrol center if that ship doesn't have a spotter then take Situational awareness 2: I use Last Stand because i am very used to it as DD main and you REALLY don't want to lose your ability to steer in that ship or lose all speed due to engine failure but Adrenaline Rush is actualy the best 2 pointer performancewise 3: Super Intendent for more smokecharges 4: Concealment expert to use your superior (for a cruiser) concealment and sneak closer before you activate smoke for maximum effect 4: IFHE to really hurt (hightier) BBs the Last 5 points is to add more flavour to your liking. i got these: 2: Adrenaline rush (because i also use Last Stand like said above) - High alert or the enhanced smokerange can be useful too 3: Demolition Expert (to negate the debuff on your Firechance from IFHE) - Survivability Expert to mitigate the poor hp pool or Basics of survivabilty can be useful too You can also go with Advanced firing training (4) and preventave maintanance (1) (AA Build) or any other combi you can think of. Edit: Looked into the wiki and corrected my post. Also using the special module for smoke and Hydro (if you have) and the premium Smoke and Hydro consumable (don't bother with the Torpedoreloadbooster) is advised.

0.7.1 - Removal of premiums from tech tree and shop
Miessa3 replied to Aragathor's topic in General Discussion
Baltimore and Chapayev would like to have a word with you..... Check your facts. You can't find Tier X with Tier 7 ships unless you are in a Fail platoon.... Also anyone can reach Tier X easily. Without premium you just need a bit more time. -
Well I can agree to that. As I said the perfect noobtrap. But isn't that much op anymore once the enemy DDs start to think about their actions and become smarter.
-
Do you even read what you write yourself? Why double 15 Torpedos? 15 is all she gets with 3x5 torpedos. Yes adding TRB makes it 30 (not 60 - you better do your math pal) but you are ignoring that this makes her extremly vulnarable to their predators as she can't smoke up and still is slower than most of them. Also these amounts of torpedos may sound really impressing, but then you realise those are 5er Launchers with BB size gaps between the Torpedos after only a few km, also are either really bad at hitting because of low concealment (the 20 km ones) or you need to get really close like the 12 + 8 km ones. (yes you don't hit the 12 km ones over 12 km because of mentioned gaps. You effectively use those either at 10 km or 6-7 km respectively which is welll inside radarrange and very likely close to the enemy DDs hunting you which you can't run from) So no those Torpedos aren't any good in their current state and i would gladly trade against the torpedoset of the Tier FIVE Kamikaze (3x2 Torpedos) with relevant damage/reload for Tier X. It actualy is both. Again if you take the two consumables out of the equation what does Lo Yang better than any other DD on that Tier again? 400m is actually all you need. Yes it won't help you if you are moving directly towards him, but if you are any good in IJN DDs you know how to expect where he is (or use RPF for that) and can kite in that sweetspot of 400 meters all day. 400m is more than enough. Well maybe they overdid it with the 5,4 km range but that hardly makes her op. What is the gamebreaking difference about that 1 more km again? 1) which is all they need to eihter permaspot him (IJN) or kite away from Lo Yangs Hydro (all other DDs) 2) Jeah i shouldn't have said "RU DDs" but only Kiev. I forgot what a bad ship Ognevoi became. (I unlocked all RU DDs before the split) The Aki is bad in other Areas than DPM? Which do you mean? HP Pool? Concealment? 3) You underestemate the Alpha of those guns especially when using AP.... The whole skill from playing KM DDs is getting those AP Pens on enemy DDs.... You are cherrypicking again. The Kiev (or any other DD for that matter) don't need to bother with Lo Yangs HAS over 6 km either. Every engagement over those magical 5,4 km is unfavourable for Lo Yang which can be easily forced by said ships that have better concealment as Lo Yang because Lo Yang has worse concealment than Hydrorange. It doesn't matter much if the window is 400m or several km if the stealthier DD-Player is any good (like i said above). But somehow that doesn't matter as in your mind the DDs will close the distance no matter what. Don't underestemate the speed of a Kiev and his skill to use islands (common tactic to hide their aproach in RU DDs).

The point is to read the map an not go to the open cap without support and high likelyhood of Lo Yang being there. Yes the Lo yang could be at any cap, you can't know 100%. What you do know however is that he is cut of his support at a and that your support is right behind you. No Lo Yang survives that for long not even with smoke + Hydro. You are rather shooting yourself in the foot there, bringing Shima as an example for op gimmicks you have to play around..... https://wows-numbers.com/ko/ship/4282267344,Shimakaze/ Just look at the WR compared to other Tier X DDs..... Oh you must have played another game this ranked season then. For me there was a radarship on each side for like over 80% of all my games. (If there were cruisers in our game - the BBs and DDs only matches are the reason this % is so low) The Point of the Hydro (which KM DDs also get just not as far ranged) is that you can bully other DDs out of caps that you want to cap. You are very vulnerable though if you are in open water or your Hydro + Smoke on cooldown. (most use it at the same time) Yes you might have great DPM at almost Benson levels, but that doesn't do much if you are constantly outspotted by Kageros and Harekazes spawning a rainfall of heavy BB and cruisershells on you. If they didn't have Hydro especialy Lo Yang, it would be just a very uncompetetive DD as it has: 1) worse Detection than most DDs on that Tier. 2) lower DPM than benson and Kidd and especially aginast RU DDs 3) KM DDs still would have Hydro then There would be literally no point playing Lo Yang over any other DD (same with KM DDs if you take HAS away) which literally makes it the whole point in playing those. Get it now? Yes easy prey as i said above most DDs outspot her (or getting close to it) and hence can decide when to fight her. If you can actualy outspot her safely like in the IJN DDs you can just let your team do the dirty work. (and don't come with that it takes more that one again as it also takes more than one to kill you if Lo Yang hides behind an island near the spawn to Hydro you) Also I want to see you outshooting a Kiew in a Benson especially above 6 km..... (oh and don't come with superior stealth NOW as you don't seem to count that point against lo Yang)
-
1) Yes Lo Yang is first because too many bad DD players try to go in with a DD in ranked anyways and as I said Lo Yang is best in punching holes in Noobs. (Which is also the reason why i chose lo yang this season too) Now look for the WR of the Lo Yang in Random games....... (doesn't look that bright anymore without being constatly TopTier and so much focus on caps right?) 2) Wow Kid got like 0,63% more WR than the next silvership (Aki) which is totally blowing her out of the competition with superior numbers especially if you consider that Aki got almost twice the gamecount of Kidd (1,9%>1%) Also by that logic Enterprise is THE superior CV over Shokaku and totally op! Same with Alabama! Right? 3) Oh look a silvership which wouldn't fit you agenda, so here comes the excuses...... Funny thing is the same can be said about the point you made about Kidd or the Enterprise example i made..... 4) Well in my list Benson isn't that far off from Akizuki with 0,69% less WR but over tripple shipusage.... Also Harekaze which i consider at least equal to Lo Yang as it can outspot him all day (even with Hydro on Hare could just pop in and out of range without much harm) is very low on the list because it requires more skill to use to its fullest and doesn't farm as much of the stupidity of the enemy (DD) players. What a surprise.

funny thing you mention Mountain Range and Hotspot, as these are the two maps where you could hide in the "neutral" cap behind certain islands for all day and Lo Yangs Hydro won't change that. If he comes in to get you then he is screwed as he: 1) can't smoke up while closing in much 2) Leaves most of the cover of his team 3) you still got the DPM advantage over him in a Benson. The Name of the map with the A/B cap you were looking for is "Sea of Fortune". Yes for that map you should go C as you are in trouble if both teams have support on that cap and he is west in A behind that island where he can Hydro the whole cap. BUT he will only get a like that. The thing is if he dares to go b (which is quiet open which is the whole idea of this double cap) he can easily get annihalated if he gets spotted by anything which can be the following: 1) A spotter plane from any BB or cruiser. 2) Radar from a cruiser 3) Hydro from Bismarck or a cruiser behind that island near the cap 4) an enemy DD that have the same ballz than him to move into that cap 5) planes from cv If he pulled off a cap of b so he could 2 instead of your 1, then he took a great risk and got rewarded for it. Seems fair doesn't it?
-
Yes because Lo Yang looks only as op as here in ranked because it is always toptier. Good observation on your side. It was a certain death in that situation. The best tactic would be to push him with radar in cover + support or use a CV. It wouldn't have been a strategical advantage if in OPs example he would've just caped the other cap instead. No it isn't. Why? Name me just ONE example except the Hydro which another DD can't do better..... We also established that you can play around Hydro, even with Radar if needed. ....Which is the reason Lo Yang seem so powerful.... It's the ultimate noobtrap. .... not if radar is around.... or CV.... or you know a coordinated push as a team. If he is alone, then he can't do anything against any cruiser especially with active hydro himself. Which is kind of the whole point of the Lo Yang (and KM DDs) isn't it? If Lo Yangs Hydro and smoke is on CD he is easy prey for the other gunbased DDs.... What about a pushing Bismarck with active Hydro?
-
The distribution isn't automated and only given manualy hence why it always takes several weeks after ranked to receive the prices. Also no, Lo Yang isn't pay to win, it is only the best in punishing bad DD play (of the enemys) turning them into punching bags. If you are any good you can do just as well in Akizuki or Benson or Kagero.

Best commander skills for each class? (generally speaking)
Miessa3 replied to krazypenguin's topic in Newcomers' Section
As you can see Adrenaline Rush and Concealment expert are considered usefull skills no matter what you play. Other than those skills depent on the ship you are using. Like a cruiser with 155mm and below Armament for example (IFHE) But i agree with most what was said above. I can also recommend Situational Awareness for cruisers. (rather cheap prize for showing you how many enemys want to see you dead) You can argue that this skill can be accounted for with skill, but it still sometimes warns you about the boarder hugging BB in the distance changing his target to you rather than the BB in front of him which can yield a nasty surprise given RNG dispersion. Oh? Giving up already? But you haven't seen the best part yet. (Emerald) -
......Or a T7 Season with Saipan and Belfast... (oh just imagine the salt) But even then I would still go for the dirty, trolling "i get to keep my star" Sims.
-
Darn... (or maybe not) I am fighting with myself if I buy the captain Bundle or not. I already have a Akeno and Thea and the cat camo but am indeed interested in the extra voiceovers of the other crewmembers and am keen to vote with my wallet for more Anime in our society. I also already have plenty of skilled IJN Captains and plenty more unskilled (ARP for example). I also can only use one voiceover at a time and have an already huge selection with the ARP ones. Dunno if I do it but having voice for those (for ARP voiceovers for example) "missing" commands instead of awkward silence may have pushed me to buy it...
-
Btw did they fix the missing lines in the voiceover? (at least for the 4 new captains) You know the ones that were added later like "need intelligence data"?
-
What are you talking about? Use anything but IJN BBs and once you are Hightier you can broadside all day long without getting punished. I hear RN BBs are best at that with their submerged Citadels but you might want to try Montana and Kurfürst too. (salty Yamatocaptain speaking) On Topic: Jeah i also got many Die Hards in DDs too. I can particularly renember one in my Gremy. The enemy went like wtf?!? Op Ship! I extra went for the ram on you to kill the most op enemy ship and you still survived?!? (I was using the signal for ramming reduction just for the sake of using them because they are useless.) I was laughing my A off. And farming Dreadnaughts in Khaba is stupidly easy. In fact it is my go for ship to farm those for specific missions.
-
Well even if you don't like to play it (which is a fair point to sell it for Dubloons which was possible recently to get another more fitting premiumship for you with those dubllons) keeping it is an option to prevent it from dropping out of a SC again and get another ship instead. selling premiums for credits is rather dumb, because you can just grind those credits but you can't (normaly) grind those specifc premiumships. You also never know when some mission shows up which kutusov fits perfectly to. (like doing massive damage in cruisers or start fires)
-
Because my point was only that stat, because that is the only thing that you might argue about if it makes the Lo Yang op like seemingly claimed in this thread. Yes i know Lo Yang has more DPM, but that is because it is practically a Benson and not a KM ship. The KM DDs have large 150 caliber guns with huge alpha and in general very good penetration on AP shells for that. Yes the Healthpool and Torpedos are superior in KM DDs hence why i said Lo Yang also comes with shortcomings.
-
No. Like I said it is a one trick pony. Yes it is vastly superior in rushing in caps and bully out other DDs with their HAS + smoke combo, but that is the whole point of Lo Yang and KM DDs! You fail to understand that those advantages come with shortcomings you seem to willingly ignore even though pointed out to you in this thread multiple times... Yes Lo Yang has superior Hydro than the KM counterpart which is ridiculous and may be debatable if WG buffed it a tad to much if you compare those two DDs directly, but the fundamental problem you are describing here is just as true with any other KM DD that comes with HAS. And again Lo Yang only shines so much like in Ranked when being Top Tier....
