Why this CV rework is FAIL

I think the Lex will end up being nerfed. Many are saying it's to powerful for a t8 CV

Why this CV rework is FAIL

Really? I play mine a lot. And in the last but one game played tonight there was two of them, me and another one on the enemy team. I think many have simply moved on up to the T10 Brit CV by now that bought early access to the Implacable, you see quite a lot of the Audacious in T10 matches used - why you might not be seeing as many playing the Implacable now. I have the T10 Brit CV fully researched also but have dropped back down to playing the Implacable instead for the time being until I get the perma camo for the T10 CV. As I have the "Crown" perma camo for the T8 one.

    Sensible CV change incoming

What does it matter either way. This time delay is going to fix nothing. Just another stupid idea WG have come up with to try and tweak CV effectiveness. WG know the main problem lies in CV able to spot their own targets and not having to rely on other surface ships to do it for them. Not the same way Arty has to rely on other tanks to spot and give them targets to shoot at in WOT limiting their effectiveness. That cannot be fixed with CV, not so long as they're able to spot their own targets. CV will always break the game concealment mechanics and make DD class useless as spotting ships now because of it. Adding a 30 or 45 second delay at the start of the match is going to fix what exactly? When planes can still do the same thing once that time is up.

    Sensible CV change incoming

CV may start a match too close to caps and need to be moved further away from them. Checking the team list at the start gives you a good indication of what targets are best to go for, or avoid. Yes, I'm aware you can do that once your planes are in the air heading towards enemy side of map. But this delay only means you'll do it now instead prior to planes taking off. At T8 CV level, the 30 seconds delay spent doing that first is nothing.

    Sensible CV change incoming

Yep, hate to say it with me playing CV at times as well. But the biggest problem is that CV can spot their own targets, which also spoils things for DD because they are basically no longer "spotting ships" now (CV planes have taken over that role). Not to mention CV plane spotting has broken game concealment mechanics. Arty works in WOT because they have to rely on other tanks in the game spotting targets for them to shoot at which limits their effectiveness in the game. So arty can never be OP in the game in that respect. I know it makes no sense to not have CV planes able to spot their own targets - as planes can obviously fly around and spot things from air unlike Arty in WOT. But there lies the biggest issue with CV in WOWS, that they can spot their own targets and don't need rely on other surface ships to do it for them - and no 30 or 45 second delay at the start of a match is going to fix that issue.

    Sensible CV change incoming

I play T8 CV right now and honestly 30 seconds delay for T8 before launching planes doesn't bother me. I can spend that 30 seconds at the start of a match checking the team list fist, then map next to reposition my CV before launching any planes. That's pretty much 20 seconds of the 30 seconds delay used up doing them two things. What this will mean is that DD ships will see this new time delay for CV as an opportunity for them to rush out and try get some spotting ribbons early on. Which will only result in more DD ships over extending themselves going "solo" at the start of a match for CV to blob more easy.

    T8 Premiums need protection

Better to pay the extra and buy a T9 premium, than buy a T8 premium. T8 ships, both stock and prem are just cannon fodder really for T10 matches, whereas at least a T9 prem ship is far better suited to playing T10 matches. The only T8 prem worth buying to avoid that cannon fodder syndrome, frankly, go buy a T8 CV. Then you can sit safe on the map line and send planes across the map at everything. Not even a Yam or Mush can out-range you.

    Why can't I shoot ?

Yep, I grinded to the Pensacola, but only because of the Space camo got for it, and intending to go further past it for the higher tier cruisers I have the space camos for also. But it's a bad ship to play because of that slow turret transverse and weak armour scheme.

    CV Rework Discussion

Too many DD players though are sailing around with their AA turned on all the time that gives them away too easy. You can get away with doing that if it's a DD with only short range AA that is less than the DD concealment to planes (Icarus for example is one, 1.5k short range AA bubble, which is less than its 2.6k detected by air). So you can keep AA turned on all the time, as it's only going to fire anyway after planes detect you. But some DD ships have medium and long-range AA that reaches 6k and they keep it switched on when their DD concealment to planes might only be 2.6k. if you use a DD with long-range AA, they should keep it turned off and only switch it on if detected by planes. Otherwise, if your DD has long-range AA reaching 6k and you keep it on all the time. That means your concealment to planes is not 2.6k, but 6k because the AA will shoot at CV planes giving you away when they come inside 6k long range AA bubble activated on the DD. CV planes then have a nice 6k distance to turn around fast and attack you easy , ample 6k distance to do it. The Kidd is one DD for example that has detection range to planes at 2.6k. But the AA shoots 6k distance. So I never turn AA on with the Kidd unless spotted by planes at 2.6k, or I'll turn it on to offer AA support when grouped with BB ships. But when going solo hunting to torp, I turn it off until a plane detects me

    CV Rework Discussion

I did wonder why they still have the "provide AA fire support" as an option when you press the B key. Now that CV changed from the old way of being able to send out fighters to attack enemy CV planes. It seems a pointless choice with the B key now to use, as CV can no longer offer fighter support - yet people still use it in-game asking for fighter support? The only way now a CV can offer any fighter support. Is if your sat right at the side of the CV ship and he presses T key to launch extra fighters. But think it only covers about 3.5k range

    Jean Bart build

I would defo go for reload boost also. I have the Vanguard which has decent AA and honestly. Using the AA module still doesn't stop CV planes getting through to you, so why bother using it when the reload booster will be far more useful for doing more damage and earning better credits?

    Jean Bart build

Doesn't Jean Bart have decent secondary guns though like Massachusetts. So would have thought a similar build to that ship really aimed around getting the most out its secondary guns

Good DD players - Asashio - yes or no?

Please don't try and fight other DD ships in an Ashasio, or spec it as a DD ship that can brawl other DDs. It isn't a DD vs DD brawler
  14. That's not an option to do now with the CV rework.

    Fellow DD players...

The Le Terrible is fun for the LOLS because of it's fast speed and pretty decent guns. But that's about all though, not much use for anything else really. It has poor concealment with no smoke screen to use, making it easy picking for any CV to target in the current CV game meta. It also gets just about every module knocked out each time any enemy gun hits land on it, the engine gets knocked out with pretty much every shot making it hard to escape any incoming fire in the Le Terrible and not even like you can drop a smoke screen when it happens each time .

Audacious, anyone made her work well yet?

I don't really use torp planes as much as the rockets/ bomb planes on the T8 Brit CV. It only drops 2 torps and chances are only one of the two torps will hit most of the time doing pitiful damage from one torp hit. So I don't like to boost the strength of torp planes with that module, not when I think bombs/rockets are more useful for using more than the torp planes. That module to me is better used on rocket or bomb planes instead, which you find yourself using more than the torp planes.

Can someone review a CV replay?

Expecting a bit much I'd say to average 100k damage from a T8 premium. Just not going to happen, you don't even average that playing some T10 CVs. If you're doing 70k damage on average right now in that Lex T8 CV, that is actually pretty good. I'm not averaging that in the Brit T8, nor was I in T0 CV before. By averaging you mean doing it in most games, hitting 70k or higher.

Good DD players - Asashio - yes or no?

The guns are short range (10.95) unless you use AFT skill to extend it further. The DD itself is also pretty weak and not that manoeuvrable either to dodge incoming fire once you get spotted. The guns are better used when you have an advantage, such as being able to smoke screen up at same time you shoot used for cover, and it's a lone enemy ship isolated from the rest of the pack you attack that's low on HP and not too close that it can rush your smoke screen. You have to keep in the mind that the ship is both weak, not very manoeuvrable to dodge incoming shots. And also doesn't have the greatest gun range for a DD. I would say use AFT skill to anyone that gets the ship. The guns are not floaty with an high arc like some other DD's are when you use AFT to further the shooting range, so AFT works well on it and gives you a safer distance to shoot from in smoke to play around with.
  19. A typical DD that tries to cap will do so by only just passing the capping circle markers. All a CV needs do is follow the cap circles markers on the enemy side and if any DD is capping he's sure to be spotted pretty easy. Because a DD doesn't want to venture into the middle of a cap (to cap it). He will want to put distance between any other possible DD's lurking around by only just stepping over the cap markers on his side. Any decent CV player knows this and where to look for DD ships.
  20. Not as hard as you might think to attack a DD with a CV. When spotted you can hit the brakes on the planes (S key) slowing right down and then circle back to the area again now going slow and start the target aiming before seeing him, giving you time to target and drop the payload once he pops up spotted again.
  21. The main problem for DD ships is when they try and get close enough to enemy ships to use torps, then get spotted by CV maybe only 8k away from the enemy (which could be a group of enemy ships). A DD has a hard time then trying to get away when so close in without being killed. That really is the biggest problem for DD play at minute. One thing WG should consider doing now is increasing the smoke screen charges DD ships carry. Especially those DD that only come with a very limited 2 smoke screen charges by default. 2 smoke screen charges with the high chance they have now of being spotted by CV close in (often) while trying to launch torps just isn't enough any more. You can use them two smoke screen charges for cover in the first 5 minutes if you have two CV in a match playing a DD. I think even without the skill and module used to increase smoke screen charges they carry. Any DD that has 2 smoke screen charges by default - that should be changed to carry 4 by default now, and 6 charges with the module and skill taken on-top of that.

    What carrier should I get

And the HE bombs get a 40% fire chance as well I believe said in the first video. So it's basically a CONQ/Nelson (CV).
  23. MRGTB

    What carrier should I get

I will most likely get it also. Just noticed watching some YT videos on it, there's no torps? Only rockets and bombs. But the planes are fast, 190 base speed and 260 with engine boost. One thing bothers me about both videos though. In both hardly any planes can be seen lost to flak from ships AA. Really? That just seems a bit false to me in these videos?
  24. MRGTB

    What carrier should I get

There isn't really that much different between the T8 and T10 CV, but that is probably down to the fact that the T10 CV is facing much stronger flak from ships in matches far more regular than the T8 CV. Of course the T10 CV is better in general, but not by much on the "score card" results , both feel like they're somewhat underperforming. They are also doing better on damage than the T10 Brit CV as well. Only managed to get over 100k damage once so far.

    What carrier should I get

I dropped back down to playing the British Implacable today from playing the T10 Brit CV. How weak does the Implacable feel now after playing the T10 Brit CV, but even with a premium account running it's costing me 100k a match to fund playing the T10 CV at times, which I'm not going to keep funding that much credits per match all the time. But I'm pretty shocked at how pathetic and weak with planes the Implacable now feels after playing the T10 Brit CV.
