What is the real advantage of Saipan over lexington?
MRGTB replied to steveraptor's topic in Aircraft Carriers
I think it needs a very slight buff to plane regen rates. I get that planes are T10 planes and they do more damage when you get hits compared to the the likes of Kaga. But still... it seems to suffer too much from running out of planes to use unless you play it slow and very carefully. Basically you're using F key after one attack to save planes all the time so you don't run out planes mid-game. As trying to turn in flack for a second run usually results in you losing too many planes doing the turn which leads you suffering bably with plane regen rate later on deck because Saipan has really bad regen rate So I still think Saipan does need a slight buff on plane regen I play both Kaga and Saipan. Kaga because of its great plane regen rate and large squad size, means you have have much bigger impact on a game - than you can in Sapian. You just feel like you're stuggling in Saipan all the time having to take it slow and make sure you have enough planes to use all the time. So using things like engine boost becomes a no, no mid game because you reach target too soon - getting planes killed faster - then find out the CV regen rate can't keep up with it at all. So you end up not really having the same impact on a game like you can playing KAGA due to not worrying about plane regen rate with it. I can play KAGA with the right skills to further boost plane regen rates and for 80% of the game use torp planes all the time. Something wrong when you can do that? And it drops 4 torps as well same as Saipan, but I can get either 2 or even 3 torps runs inl. So.. it doesn't add up that you get 1 torp run in with Saipan and then have to F key out to save planes (KAGA ends up doing more damage with torp planes) for 80% of a match using them, because you usually get 2 torps attacks in each time before you need press F key -
That is what I think also. Had enough of these really slow BBs when grinding the UK line at the start. Was glad to leave them behind once you got past QE ship. But more to the point. You might get away using these slow ships in low tier matches, when cruises at that tier all tend to have a limited shooting range with no option to extend it further. But seriously... 23 knots at T10 is just not going work. Completely different once you get past T8 using slow ships like that in matches with Cruisers that can shoot over 20k having the extra module slot to do it from T9 upwards and many using IFHE skill. My Azumo with modules can shoot 22k and even further when plane is launched. It would just be a joke doing 23 knots in T10 matches, lol. I mean... I'd expect if they can only do 23knots at T10, they would have a 25k shooting range at least. But giving them a limited shortish shooting range as well - that just makes them HE damage farming ships for DD and Cruisers (nothing more than that). 40 second reload trying to keep a DD off you doing 23k. Oh boy! Hope this ship comes with the best secondary guns EVER that can shoot 20k
-
There no high skill level about it. Shortish range guns I'm reading on a ship that does 23knots. You're going get wasted by both Cruisers and CV with torps No skill will help you out if you get in HE Cruiser range doing 23 knots trying to escape
-
So basically, a new line of Nelsons.
-
Big guns... but very, very, very slow reload, rubbish side armour and a slow speed to boot. No thanks... you already know they will be terrible to play. Plus they will turn like a brick as well because they are slow.

I already have her as well. Does it not get listed if you already have the ship? Usually it's listed still but says "you already have it".

Hmm... Don't see Pommern listed in Armoury for coal. Read somebody else say other day that it would be up for sale for coal when released, but I don't see it listed for coal?

Many will be doing the German directive missions using it in COOP towards getting that Iron Cross camo. As the only other way to get that Iron Cross camo (apart from doing the missions) is paying £140.00 for both German ships, CV and BB that come with that Iron Cross camo. -
That would be a good idea in theory. The option to play in games with CV or not. That said... how many DD players are going to opt out playing in matches with CV in them? Same can be said with Cruisers to a certain extent. So can't see that ever happening because games with CV would most likely struggle to get any DDs in them - I'm guessing... and maybe even a lack of Cruiser to some extent.

Enterprises planes are weak - not as weak as Kaga planes maybe. But Kaga has the bigger squad of planes and better regen, it always gets a least one attack run in, even two most times. I found you can't say that about Enterprise planes when up-tiered to T10 matches. they just get obliterated I thought too much compared to KAGA planes still being able to cope well in T10 matches due to the sheer size of the plane squad. Each to their own I guess? I know most think Enterprise is completely OP for a CV. But I just couldn't make it work for me and thought it very average really. I wouldn't know about Saipan compared to LEX stock USA CV. Not played any US stock CVs to know. I still think Saipan could do with a slight buff to regen rates on planes. It's an hard CV to play because you can end up de-planed way too soon in a match if not played at a slower pace to the likes of other CV with a much better plane regen rate. -

Kaga for me is the best premium CV to buy out them all. And I have bought all 4 T8 CV from the shop. Funny thing is I hated the Saipan CV most at first because of it's very poor plane regen rate (even if it does have the strongest planes) of all 4 CV. But now the Saipan has grown on me and you can do well in it if played carefully. I really just don't rate the Graff Zep or the Enterprise though. No idea why they pulled the Enterprise from sale... I don't rate it as being an OP CV at all, the only reason I think they pulled it from sale. Was not for being OP really, but because it could damage DD ships too easy with the large amount of rocket planes and fast turn speed of the planes to come back again. That was about the only OP thing for me with Enterprise I think (it used against DD ships). Other than that, there was nothing that good about Enterprise for me. Funny, as the two cheaper T8 premium CVs for me ended up being better than the two most expensive ones. Kaga and Saipan are best - Enterprise and Graff Zep are worst (but most expensive) -
Oden needs a buff to the secondary guns. I get it that they give it GK secondary guns at T8 with 32 and 38mm pen to make it slightly different. But the secondary guns are just so underwhelming to use for a German BB - that is sitting in the same tier as the likes of Tirps, Bismark and Matty. But the secondary on Oden seem rubbish in comparison for using to them ships. You get nowhere near as many hits with them, which just makes the secondary seem rubbish No point giving it 32 and 38mm pen on secondary, "but with a slower reload of those guns" - as a selling point - then making them have odd shooting angles also. The problem I see here is those two 38mm pen secondary turrets. They have the slowest reload and just make it seem like Oden hardly fires any secondary guns that often.

Shikishima... I guess is a nice alternative to playing Yamato, as a T10 BB still. And it takes the mantle off Mushi now as the only alternative to Yamato. Which for a long time has been the only contender to Yamato as a premium JAP BB. Not seen many of them in matches, just the odd ones now and then. Those I have seen in-game playing it has mostly all gone in front-line and ended up wasted fast because of it.
-
It's actually not that bad a ship to play. I have a few T9 premium BBs. Like Bajie, George, Bart and this one. I'd sooner play this BB than the other 3. Also have Oden (T8), got that first but this is better than Oden for playing. Although... I think both are pretty good, but the Pomm just has way better secondary hits coming off it than Oden.

PR is the worst ship I have ever spent money on to buy. It's an absolute load of garbage. Only thing good about this ship, it look nice. But there is nothing what-so-ever good about this ship. HE is rubbish and hardly ever starts fires, dispersion is rubbish, AP pen doesn't do that much damage either most of the time. The guns are just rubbish on it shooting at range, which you have a hard time hitting anything with the terrible dispersion it has - topped off with floaty high arc bullets It's just a terrible ship to play and is so big that it's just gets wasted fast once you get focused on. The only real use for this ship. Is playing it in COOP to do missions seeing as it has decent secondary guns and can cit other COOP AI ships at close range. But playing it in RANDOM matches against real players is a waste of time. It's useless.

The problem is with the GZ. You get suckered in because of the good secondary guns the CV has because its German. But thing is, you can't fully spec both secondary guns and planes also - you don't have anything like enough skill points to play around with. Torp planes are okay on GZ, but the bomber planes are rubbish and it's been well highlighted about it on the forum. The rocket planes are a bit meh, it doesn't really shoot enough even if they do hit a bit harder. The best premium CV is the KAGA. Hands down and is better than Enterprise. Saipan is also good in the right hands, I have that also. But you need play it more carefully or you'll get de-planed easy. But with KAGA - you just have unlimited planes basically, it suits noobs best of any CV. Personally, I would say in order of best to worst CV 1 Kaga 2 Saipan (but its more for experienced CV players) 3 Enterprise (nope, shock horror - I don't rate it as the best cv at all) 4 GZ -
Hmm... I would have to agree is doesn't make much sense having a weaker armour belt than Shorn. It should have more HP than Shorn as well, it's a tier higher than Shorn meeting T10. I must admit though, my main complaint about this ship having played all the best secondary guns ships there are in the game. I'm not getting as many secondary hits as I'd expect using Manual Secondary skill also to pick targets (the poster - two posts above is right when he says is Steve Wonder shooting these secondary) guns. Some games using it I'm only getting between 40 and 50 hits. Really? Come on! 40-50 secondary hits only??? That's bad when I'm also using manual secondary skill now. Most I have managed to rack up so far in secondary hits has been around 90 hits tops while using manually secondary skill (but rare). But that's still on the low side really not topping over 100 secondary hits fully specced out with skills and modules for secondary guns

First impression is I like the Oden and have played about 50+ games in it so far. It's a just a general good all-round ship to play. Guns feel comfortable for using, and the 11k secondary at T8 is a blast when fully specced put with skills and equipment for distance. It's also a pretty durable BB, which you do expect with a German BB. Tried using HE to see what it's like and notice it does have a lower fire chance than Tirps - but does have the extra gun though. Not that good using HE (same case for Tirps and Bismark). Might be worth sticking fire chance skill on it really, seeing as the guns are not a high calibre and much like Shorn guns. One good thing is the secondary guns are like on GK with 32 and 38mm pen. So you don't need stick IFHE on it - freeing up 3 points maybe to use on boosting fire chance skill

This has got me annoyed! So I've just unlocked the Jutland after playing the Lightning DD. I went on WIKI beforehand and read it said that you need the 4 skill point (Inertia Fuse for HE shells) for the guns to work. So okay, maybe a bit of an "exaggeration I thought" posted on WIKI, seeing as no other British DD leading up to Jutland needs that skill, so it's not a skill you're going to do leading up to it in the DD's before it - not even with the Lightning because it isn't needed for the guns to work. So basically, you now expect the British who use British ships most to suddenly buy doubloons to change all captain skills after the Lightning - for the Jutland. Because I have played 4 matches in the Jutland so far without that 4 skill point (Inertia Fuse for HE shells) and hit ships in the upper parts (weakest parts) and I'm doing no damage. About 40 shots hit upper part of ships and only doing 400 damage, WTF? Tell you what, this is ridiculous and you obviously expect that people who play the British DD (mainly Brits) will fork out money on doubloons to redo all the skills again once you get to the Jutland. Because I can see after only 4 matches, without that skill (you wasn't kidding on WIKI about it) - a skill that was never needed for any DD before the Jutland. That the ship is basically totally f'ing USELESS firing it's guns! 4 matches and can't even do over 2k damage with guns using a 14 point captain with a crap loads of shots hitting ships upper parts of structures

Just removed this game from my PC and not installing it again. Updated the game yesterday and now getting error, game won't run. Tired of the constant problems with this game, I'm done with it now.
-
Too many make the mistake of trying to kill a Smol using HE shells. Use AP all the time on Smol, it's very weak to AP
-
Makes little difference removing the torps from Smol. if you're in a BB he'll still burn you down from full health before you get anywhere near his smoke screen. Mostly because it has good range to start hitting you from before you get anywhere near his smoke screen.

I hope they do the Space Battles again. I have some space camo's bought but don't have the space captains now. Let them go before I bought the T10 space camo for 2 ships. So wouldn't mind getting another chance to get the space captains required for them two ships back again
