Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
The thing is, if MM was truly random, it would not account for player skill. Which it does not. But because of how machine intelligence works, it can never create true randomness, but can approach that. It does not take skill into account. Also twenty in a set of a million is a very small streak, so naturally the chance is much higher than if you were to flip it a hundred times. Chance scales with size. If we say the average WoWs game is 10 minutes, that means six matches in a hour, occupying the time of 6 x 24 = 144 players. That would also be 144 matches in a day with, assuming all of them are unique, 3456 players. Of course the average playerbase on at any time is more in the direction of 20k. So your numbers might start to look different depending on the size of your sample. For WG spreadsheets and similar statistical tools, the saying goes: ''Numbers don't lie, but liars know how to count'. -

I know he is a good player and every single good player will underwrite the lack of quality in the playerbase. But you cannot just say ''30 loss or 30 win streaks are common'' like he did. Your post in itself is confusing. 38% is relatively high for a percentage of chance, but you still describe them as not normal. I would say these streaks are rare if almost non-existent, but a 70%+ winrate is doable in long streaks, with good play and a good division mainly. So I contest the ''30 in a row'', but I ascribe the high winrate streaks. The matchmaker is random, but machine intelligence cannot create true, unexpected randomness in our definition of being utterly random. It simply mashes the classes and tiers together where they roughly belong. -
Examining my Port, I find ......
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Aethervoxx's topic in General Discussion
Examining my port... I find more than 300 ships. I appreciate each and every one of them, although some more than others (Hello, Royal Navy!) A clan chat that is still active and a great bunch of boys and girls to play with. Many pretty camouflages and a myriad of flags, which are my pride and joy. Few things better than being sharply-dressed whilst terrorising the virtual oceans. This game has been in rough water for several years now and I hope to see it enter fair seas once again. (Although I wonder how long I my hiatus will be once Warhammer III drops tomorrow...) -

Without proof, it will remain nothing more than a opinion. You should not present opinions as facts. You can come back to contribute by 1) abandoning the claim or 2) bringing visual proof that it happened. The sad part is, you are only marginally better than the people you complain about, but on the right path. Put more energy into improving instead of complaining. -
Just remember: other people will have the wisdom (or lack of it) to buy these containers, so you do not have to.

Please provide proof of people losing and winning 30 times in a row. Otherwise we cannot hope to take this claim seriously. -
And nothing of value was lost. In fact, there is a miniscule chance that something might be gained from this.

[POLL] Will you participate in "Lighthouse Auction" for Gremyashchy (10.000 Doubloons MIN) and 100K Coal (25M Credits MIN) ?
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Well, the only difference is that they moved marketing ploys from the real world to digital when the internet came into being... So it is toma-to/to-may-to to me. Not very picky in the things I like and the things I denounce. -
Historical ships you would like to see

Because Nelson is the class leader. Only American ships have the privilege of getting every single member of a class (or close enough) into the game. -

That... is exactly what I said? Directly after where you cut off, so I don't hope you just stopped reading there. WG tried something scummy, got caught, then made people fall for it by being more transparent. -

I'm almost at the point where I have all the tech tree ships (excluding CVs of course), but I have been collecting flags since the start. I just find them a lot more interesting. I want WG to release all the flags they ever made that are not event-exclusive for credits. -

No no, that is what you do with NFTs, paying money for a picture of it that you can also copypaste. Unlike those, you can actually claim ownership of a singular flag and display it on your ship with a free currency (ignoring WG owning everything on your account). And unlike NFTs, I have never heard anyone using WoWs as a way to launder money. -

I wouldn't typify putting down the things someone collects as crap as being curious. More an attempt at being rude, although the reply was equally so. Is someone who collects beer bottles always a drunkard? I do not believe so. Lots of ordinary people collect unusual things, so the unusual and sometimes downright special people of this forum have the right to collect virtual flags in peace. -

British battlecruisers are already announced, which I am super excited for. I assume the line will be: Invincible (T3) -> Lion (T4) -> Tiger '13 (T5) -> Renown (T6) -> Admiral-class 1920/Anson? (T7) -> Admiral-class WWII Refit/Howe? (T8) -> G3 battlecruiser/Jellicoe? (T9) -> G3 battlecruiser WWII refit or K3 battlecruiser (18 inch guns but slower)/Beatty? (T10) I'm using the naming schemes that were either suggested for the Admiral-class (Anson and Howe were not used until KGV, we already have two KGVs) or the King George V-class (Jellicoe and Beatty were changed in favour of Anson and Howe) Other than that, Dutch destroyers could probably sprout from the Dutch cruiser line at one point, with Hr. Ms. Tromp taking the role of a T10 (given that she is similar to French and Italian destroyer leaders) and Hr. Ms. Jacob van Heemskerck as a likely premium, with 10 102mm guns, which is an incredibly large amount of firepower for a DD. ''Oude Jacob'' (Old Jacob) was also considered to be lucky or even blessed: not a single convoy in her protection was ever harmed. -
WG would unironically get more money it functioned more like an actual auction (Ebay) where you can see what the lowest winning bid is at that moment. Because people would be much more competitive in it. The Gremy bid would definitely not be winning below 11k in that case. *edit*

Update 0.11.1—Pan-Asian Cruisers: Part 2

Pretty hard to milk me when my attention span and self-control is strong enough to last the two weeks before she goes from crates to coal. Otherwise: guilty as charged! -

RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Technically the 2020 Christmas crates were not rigged. They just did not announce the shortlist, which they had done all previous years and no one complained about until they failed to conveniently supply information that was vital to know. So it was a (probably deliberate) miscommunication. Solution: Release drop rates and make big crates more appetizing. Result: I assume the profit margin was even greater in 2021 than in the years before, considering people got that grain of trust from the drop rates and more expensive crates were more advantageous per unit of currency. Putting Forrest Sherman into crates before releasing it for coal shows that one should never trust WG, but nor should one make up accusations on the spot. Leave that to morally bankrupt streamers and YouTubers squabbling for clicks. Also you are dodging the matchmaker question. If people would actually know how it works and how the game works, less people would feel that way. It has nothing to do with WG reliability. People have complained even when WG was still doing a great job at WoWs. -

I got all the flags I wanted so far (Thunderer, Somers, Moskva). Didn't care for the Immelmann flag, which went for an exorbitant amount (probably because it is German). Flags are genuinely something I look forward to. They are a sense of progression and completion that getting a T10 does not express enough. -

Sooooooo... You are really gating the Forrest Sherman into an early access container scheme before adding it to the Armoury? Interesting. -

RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
You say that, but we have so many people below 48% winrate with tens of thousands of games. Unicums are (and should) only really be counted by solo winrate, which is the closest thing to a skill measurement you can find. If you can be a unicum in this matchmaking, you are a damn good player. The fact that there has not been a whistleblower despite Chief Windbag EarlGrey having left years ago and with more than enough motivation to reveal the entire thing, shows you that there is 99% surely not a rigging system. The matchmaker is truly random. Nothing is certain. There is no need to rig it when a lot of bad players rig the matchmaker for everyone else simply by playing. Unicums do not care, their skill will always shine through and deliver a good result for them. I think people would complain a lot less about the matchmaker if there were proper tutorials for all the mechanics in the game and players were conscious and realistic of their own impact per battle instead of blaming everyone else. -
You have already won. There was a significant period of time where you could find the I-401 in the tech tree using the extended tech tree mod.

Incomparable out of NDA

If ranked popularity was an indicator of how potent a ship is, it would mean Shimakaze is overpowered and Ragnar is terrible. Neither of those statements are particularly true. What matters is the person playing them. -

Yeah. It might do really well in randoms, but most likely will not be as useful in CBs. -

Glad that you timestamped the video, that way none of us has to listen to 11 minutes of drivel before the real stuff starts. Sevastopol looks really strong so far on paper, but as always: we have to see replays to know how unbalanced it is in the hands of good players. But I somehow suspect that it will echo what is on paper.
