Re-grinding the original German DD-line
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Sub_Human's topic in General Discussion
It does have the dual gun turret. So five guns in total but four turrets. I actually love the German DDs. Great AP (most DDs go broadside to me anyway because ''muh DPM''), hydro and reliable torpedoes. Overall a great package. The key is to play like you are always outgunned and then be pleasantly surprised that you can tear up some of the popular DD picks because they underestimate you. -

How can he be a fanboy when he routinely questions and criticizes WG? Or do you simply drop all evidence to the contrary because he dares to tell you that you are wrong? -
Omg HOW bad poor Zao is....
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
The problem I have with that is being sent to port is already very easy for any IJN cruiser going broadside. It should be the ultimate risk-reward, and I personally believe the possible reward is good enough for taking the risk. (But seeing Atago torpedo angles, WG please). But it is madness to use your torpedoes when spotted and with people aiming at you, in my opinion. Which is why most of my non-yolo hits are usually on accident. I certainly sympathise with you, but I do not believe it to be absolutely needed for Zao. I also cannot really see much difference between the two except a bit better angles for Ibuki facing forward, but that may be my bad eyesight :( -

RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
They still are. You just have to choose your moments. There is nothing wrong with damage output, you functionally melt anything you see. The armour requires you to not turn blindly where a touch of fate can prevent you from being citadelled. If you make the Zao too easy to play, you get even more people farming in the back contributing nothing to your team. Preferably you want your Zao to assist your DDs whilst keeping enough cover to not get slapped. You help your DD and then your farm everything else. If there is a problem with Zao, it is definitely not the torpedoes. Torpedoes on IJN cruisers are always secondary armament as long as you have very accurate and high damage HE. They are more of an area denial weapon when unspotted (you have 2.1km between detection and torpedo launch) and a ''You fucked up by going broadside, try to get some free damage with torpedoes'' consolation prize. Concealment makes up for a lot here, as does agility. -
Udaloi is probably my favourite T9 DD and it still holds my DD record! So I whole-heartedly endorse any kind of buff or turning it into a premium.

RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Andrewbassg's topic in General Discussion
The torp angles are not that much different from the other cruisers in the line. The true challenge is resisting the urge to go broadside to get your torpedoes off. They are still only a secondary weapon, and they are very good when they hit and when you can drop them safely. Although it would not hurt if they were as good as Atago's angles :) -

I think that Japanese cruisers are good to great ships... for Randoms. The buffs for Zao were welcome, but by far not enough to turn her into CB meta or a better pick in Ranked over the top cruisers. I find them fun to play with an element of challenge, but I would never burden my team by using them in competitive gamemodes. -
[POLL] Has wargaming made the playerbase indifferent?
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to OldSchoolFrankie's topic in General Discussion
People did not care because they already broke the Tier 9 premium for sale promise. So Tier 10 is a small step from there. Also it turned out that a lot of concerns were unfounded because people in T10 tech tree ships are bad enough as it is and ARP Yamato players were collectors and veterans on average, yielding better results. -

The comment was not smug or underhanded. We are trying to explain to you that your data is sound, but the way you draw and extrapolate conclusions is wrong. I generally don't assume people to know everything or be perfect. Which is why I reserve the right to ask critical questions. Why are you on a public forum if you cannot accept that you might have misconceptions about what your data shows? It was calculated a while ago that the average player winrate is at 48,something% because of draws. WG states exactly what we experience in the matchmaker, as far as any of us (and some have tried for six years to discredit that) can see. The only advice we can really give is some points to improve your observations and to improve your gameplay. The better you get, the more impact you have. A unicum can have more impact than the 11 other people on their team, but those 11 other people can also lose him the match. Not one game is the same. Generally I shy away from statistics and focus more on what I could have done better, and I ended up landing me with 57% winrate in less than 4000 games. -

RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
WG has never claimed balance in anything except mirroring tiers and ship classes. Random also means that skill level is random. And it cannot be 50% by default because draws exist. Thus 48% is the average winrate of the playerbase. You seek for balance in the wrong places. Randomness (or close enough to it, from what machine intelligence can produce) is random ships with fixed tiers and ship classes. It has nothing to do with skill level or winrate. If it was guaranteed to be 50%, everyone would have 50% and there would be no distinction in skill level at all. I dare even say that you are getting the long end of the stick: 53% of the time you have a better team. And some people would kill for a better team 47% of the time. WG is not picking on anyone. Either your model and assumptions are incorrect or you overestimate your abilities. That is not a bad thing, a lot of players do that. To get better will improve your winrate. You know your data and your numbers, but you simply do not know enough of the workings of statistics to effectively apply them. Same data sets with two different approaches can lead to radically different outcomes. -

RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Is the burden of proof not on you, considering you were the one questioning how fair it is? If a whale gets 45% winrate and a unicum with 60% winrate is free-to-play, should it not be the other way around? There is no reason to letting paying customers get worse results. The goal is to frustrate, let someone buy something, they leave because they are not skilled enough to use a high tier premium for example, rinse and repeat. -
Preussen - One hit "No" wonder
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to BaZiNgA_69's topic in General Discussion
Honestly, I think your percentage is being generously low. Played Preussen in Dirigible Derby, managed to do pretty well pushing the objective when the rest of the team died, not very close to the objective. I still prefer GK so far, four extra shells to maybe hit something with. -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
WG has no need to entice you with good matchmaking when 1) you already payed 2) matchmaking is the same for everyone. Lots of whales with 45% winrate and free-to-play unicums with 60% winrate. 48% is in fact average for this game, since there are also draws. Random does truly mean random in the most random possible way for the matchmaker. Random ships and classes but a fixed maximum of classes. Not taking winrate into account. -
Preussen - One hit "No" wonder
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to BaZiNgA_69's topic in General Discussion
Pretty sure you are exaggerating. WG has no bias against German ships, it is mostly down to the players. Should you not be making your umpteenth topic about a minor inconvenience again? -
Where are the people on all those ships?
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to anonym_ntfKigmJ0k9e's topic in General Discussion
You sound like the people who complained on Warhammer III's launch that Cathay does not fit the setting despite it being a first edition nation. Because it is ''pandering to the Chinese''. Even though SEGA lost all advantage that would have gotten them thanks to a terrible marketing campaign in China. Point is, there was diversity in WWII as it stands. African Americans served on warships (See Doris Miller). Asian Americans served in the Pacific, against the very nation their ancestors came from (See Daniel Inouye). Diversity and inclusion are vital so that everyone can feel represented (although game representation should be at the bottom of the list), and most of the alienation comes from people who feel threatened by the very idea of representation itself and go to great lengths to misrepresent what is happening (and because a lot of things are done by clueless Americans). There is precedent for this in WWII naval combat, but because of the age rating, we will not get and do not really need crews. -
[Poll] How do you like new "Dirigible Derby" Tier X 12 vs. 12 game mode?
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I will re-iterate: from what I have seen, teammates do not actually push. DDs will suicide as usual. Cruisers will get blapped as usual. The fact that even in normal games, friendly ships do not go for caps or circles (especially Epicentre circles), shows that a lot of players do not understand the concept of even the most basic ''capture the flag'' gamemode, let alone a ''push the cart'' gamemode. How you have such faith in this playerbase after your amount of games is stunning. And I never claimed to be more intelligent than anyone. I could easily be amongst the 70%. But WG made a lot of mistakes that could have been predicted with ease beforehand. We knew the problems with Asymmetric Battles from the last testing session, and WG made the same mistake. They very rarely learn. And players in this game will happily do the wrong thing a thousand times because they want to have ''fun shooting a few things and logging off''. For a gamemode that requires teamwork, there is no teamwork or goal-oriented mindset in the player base. So yes, I do believe that we know somewhat more than you do. If you cannot handle that and resort to petty insults (including starting discussions on profiles, which you tried on mine), there is the door, do not let it hit you on the way out. -
[Poll] How do you like new "Dirigible Derby" Tier X 12 vs. 12 game mode?
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I mean, if there is any incentive in this mode, I wonder where it is. A good push the card mode (which TF2 had) does not really work in a game like this where BBs insist on sniping in the back instead of getting closer. I have to be honest, I'm not an exceptional player. You do not have to be an elitist unicum (does that even exist?) to see the problems here. If you enjoy it, good for you. But random teammates hinder the mode more than help it. Yesterday I met someone in coop who was convinced that WG controlled the bots and that they talked to him. I can see how it might be enjoyable, but with these teams, it mostly does not work well. More people will always have less of a clue of what they are doing than those that do know what they are doing. 70% of humanity has below average intelligence, and a lot of them found their way into WoWs. -
[Poll] How do you like new "Dirigible Derby" Tier X 12 vs. 12 game mode?
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
Bold of you to assume someone with 13k games and a great competitive track record does not know what he is talking about. The idea of a lot of WG's gamemodes is nice, but the players don't always conform to them, so they turn out much more boring and frustrating than intended. -
Are you guys for or against stat-based "Seasons" while still keeping life-time stats?
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to TheNubination's topic in General Discussion
You exemplify everything that is wrong with this game at the moment. No teamwork, only ''playing for fun'' and ideas that are terrible in practice. But at least you admit to griefing your team, so I hope something is done about it relatively soon. -
Shimakaze is a great DD. A bit less so in Ranked for me but very good in Randoms. (Stats not representative due to small sample size)
-
This has been said for 4.5 months now. You need to research the new Tier X. But you will have a perma camo for her because you have a perma camo on Kurfürst.
-
No? It was known for 4,5 months that you would have to regrind them with FXP or with the Tier IX ships. Since it is not a case of changing the tier of ships like Cleveland or Fubuki. You didn't get Nevsky for free either, right? On a more serious note: I had to open a ticket, since I was credited compensation for GK, but I did not receive either a Khabarovsk or compensation for it EDIT: Khaba was returned to my port in ten minutes. Not sure if coincidence or good Customer Support work.

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Well, randomness implies that skill is indeed not counted... So the MM is indeed random then, it sweeps together ships and tiers. True randomness is way too complicated for machine intelligence at present, because the patterns we make for randomness are flawed. I think the matchmaker is random enough and sometimes too random, if my team is filled with too many bad teammates. But that is the name of the gamemode and certainly what it does. -
Schlieffen: Let's discuss this BB.
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
I assume it was the insane secondary power, mayhaps combined with the torpedoes. In close quarters she is both at her most dangerous and most vulnerable. She is not Incomparable levels of fragile, which is what keeps her alive for so long. -
Examining my Port, I find ......
RuruushuVuiBuritania replied to Aethervoxx's topic in General Discussion
The reviews are accurate so far. Changes were made, not all for the best but most are, bugs will be there that might be fixed on launch, still overall looking to be a competent game. As one would expect of the few bastions of competent monetization (If you ignore the blood pack cut-out when there are literal blood fountains and nudity in the game already...)
